Dr Shin and the Functional Restoration Program is not a miracle fix or cure. If you are looking…read morefor that, then all I can say is good luck! If you are dependent on medication and want to seek that route, then his philosophy, research and programs are not for you. Now, if you are tired of losing the life you had and want to get it back and can handle discomfort with physical effort, then this is something to look at in depth. Dont do this with a close mind, a dependency on medication or because insurance/attorney says you have to. Nothing comes easy in life...success no matter what takes effort/consistency! I have been seeing Dr Shin for 2 years and yes I was skeptical and frustrated. I had opted for Surgery after 19 months and the frustration of the pain. I can say with the PT, my flexibility had returned, but the pain had not subsided. I wanted my life back and did not want to rely on medication! I ended up with a fusion and cage inserted into my lumbar area. The recovery was not easy and took work, but as I said, I wanted my life back!! Due to the fires and threat of evacuation, i overexerted myself and brought alot of mental fear as well as physical discomfort back. Dr Shin said I recovered from my surgery and I had to move to show my mind and body I could recover. I am not a weak person and dont like to sit on my ass and pity life. I wanted my life back! I was enrolled in the Keystone Functional Restoration Program, which is 7 weeks. Yes, I was skeptical but You only get out of life, what you put into it. I set goals for myself and went with an open mind. I will admit at first, I was like this was bullshit, but stayed open. The staff was very open and friendly. The environment is outstanding! You will attend a class with other people who understand and can relate to your trials and tribulations. You grow, develop and motivate each other. The Staff supports and educate in many ways that keep you motivated. You will exercise and be sore at first and if this is not you or you are scared to work hard for an end result or are just negative, then do not attend. This is a blunt statement, if you want pity or make excuses, stay home and accept your life. The classroom classes are for the most part informative. The Health education and Physical Fitness/Training are outstanding! I can say Im not cured, however i never expected to attain that. I knew going into this, that at this point an injury never fully recovers. I wanted and could accept 80% of recovery so I could snowboard, jetski, mtn bike, jiu jitsu and just be somewhat active again. After 7 weeks and completion of the course, I have a better mindset, physical condition and have almost eliminated the daily need for ibuprofen. Dont get me wrong, I still have discomfort (dont use the word pain anymore) and get sore, but I am now becoming more active. Dr Shin gave me the green light to try snowboarding again and my mindset is right to do it. Its not a miracle cure, but if you miss your old life and mentally can accept a challenge, then if given the opportunity attend this class.

One thing I neglected to mention in my previous reviews is that they will use your pain as weapon…read moreagainst you if you make a medical decision they don't like or if you fail to inform them of receiving a pain medication in the hospital. Now I have ALWAYS informed them of any and all pain medications I've received in the hospital due to having amputations. On another occasion though, I used a medication prescribed by another doctor that was not for pain and they revoked my pain medication as punishment for apparently what they perceive as "wrong-doing" of some sort... It's not huge deal as I'll be relocating to another state soon and will be hiring a competent doctor that doesn't play these kind of games. That said, it galls me that I have to spend my own money on Vodka when I have insurance coverage for my injuries. Thank God for Costco Vodka! It's actually distilled 6 times and is an excellent quality pain reliever. If need to see this doctor for something that doesn't involve pain or need pain medication, then you'll probably be alright. However if you have a condition that may require pain medication, then I would very seriously tell you to consider seeing another doctor. The only doctor that I've ever dealt with who was worse is Michael Levin. You would not want to see Levin unless you were spewing arterial blood and going to die in the next few minutes.. If you need to see a doctor for a serious injury covered under "worker's compensation" then you have my sincere sympathy and I pray for your recovery. I have yet to meet a doctor that takes worker's compensation insurance who was worth a darn. They prey upon those who are desperate for relief because you are a captive audience and other normal patients would never waste their time on such reprehensible "care givers".

I had a chance to help a homeless man to come in and get service from This Business. The Building…read morelooked like a rundown business. It's cold for a Medical Office Building. Staff are cold and treated all these patients like they need them more than The business needs them to stay afloat. The Young doctor who just inherited This business from his recently passed away Father doesn't look like a professional doctor at all .He just sits there flipping over pages of file his dead father had noted on this patient never once looking up to see how his patient was doing not putting on any stethoscope on the patient to at least check him out.He was having a cold on that day and his nose was running. He wore gloves on that day and he was trying to clear his running nose by using those gloves as tissue and dappled on his so called short blouse , but actor was his shirt All in all he looks like a kid wandering from somewhere and got into this examination room to do medical work which he didn't perform at all . At the end he spit out 2 referrals phone none of them bothered to give us a call back. I feel sorry for those patients who were examined in this office. It's sad when I have to give a review like this.

If it is my first time seeing a doctor, I would hope the doctor listens to my concerns and not just state that I am lying. I am deeply saddened that my care was delayed as it caused me additional mental distress and financial issues as I was not able to work yet the doctor refused to listen to my concerns. Although I am in a better place now, I hope that no one seeking help has to endure what I did. Please look elsewhere for medical needs. I am still traumatized by the treatment I received, every time I drive past this place. Please save your time and money and go some place else.
