They also did a terrific job with the food allergies - no issues for even the complicated allergies. I'm giving 3 stars because they did in fact provide the service for which I paid. However this particular caterer is extremely distasteful and doesn't not pay attention to provided details. They ruined my wedding. 1 gave a child a food item that could have potentially killed them - after being warned 2 took the food I paid for at my event and gave it to their staff, they brought a HUGE staff for a very small wedding 3 failed to pay attention to the listed allergies for a party of 60 - seriously considering booking a large event with these people 4 refused to allow me to use an isle runner at a venue that is not there own 5 changes sales people 4 times - in the course of 2 years forcing me to repeat everything over and over 6 made several promises and did not follow through with any once asked 7 in turn blamed the bride for not providing guest with allergy information, excuse me? 8 promised menu items and did not serve them on the day of the event read more

Vinwood (we worked with Jami and Rick leading up to the event, and Irene the day of) did an absolutely fantastic job at catering our wedding in July at the Rockport Art Association (Rockport, MA). They went above and beyond in their preparation, and were very knowledgeable in the venue space and proper flow of events (even more so than the venue staff). They helped us work through every detail and resolve a space issue that came up the day before the wedding. Overall they made the day very stress free, and had a plan for everything. The food was also delicious! Multiple guests commented on how good it tasted. We had several guests with food allergies and sensitivities/restrictions, which they were very accommodating and flexible about. They also displayed the food beautifully, including a donut wall we used for dessert. In addition, they managed the bar and let us supply our own alcohol, which saved us a lot of money. Gary and his team did such a phenomenal job catering my wedding that I honestly cannot adequately describe it. He was joyous to work with in the months, weeks, and days leading up to the date--he was responsive and flexible with all of our myriad concerns. The lead-up alone would lead to me leaving a five star review...and then my wedding happened. They knocked it out of the park. The wedding was well staffed with an absurdly professional group--everyone was friendly, effective, and frankly delightful. My husband and I had a personal server the entire night (which we didn't know was the plan!)--they made sure we ate by providing us with a gorgeous platter of appetizers during the cocktail hour, and timed our dinner specifically so that we could eat. Gary's coordinator, Barbara, was absolutely wonderful, and basically acted as my wedding coordinator, as I foolishly determined that I could do it all myself. The room flip of ceremony to reception went flawlessly, and they executed my DIY centerpieces absolutely perfectly--the room was a dream. My wedding was running so smoothly due to their professionalism...and then we hit the cake fiasco. My wedding cake never arrived from the bakery. We said we could make do with the berries and cream that was part of our catering package, but they insisted--they ran out to BJs, got an assortment of cakes to echo the assortment of cakes we'd ordered from the wedding cake bakery, and even decorated a small cutting cake for us so that we would have a nice photo opportunity. Not a single guest knew what was going wrong--the people I told the next day were floored. Gary, who was supposed to leave after the room flip, insisted on staying the whole night to make sure nothing else went wrong. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Vinwood. They embody everything you would want from a wedding caterer--their food is utterly delicious, the staff is professional and delightful, and it is so obvious how much they care. We had a wedding for 105 at the Smith Barn. Working with Gary in the planning was fantastic. He made many helpful suggestions and helped us prioritize for our budget. The day of the wedding Barbara was there and her crew of 17 people worked like a smooth machine- lots of servers!!! Plenty of passed appetizers and everything was cooked right on site. From the moment I reached out to Vinwood to inquire about their services, I could tell they were extremely professional and detail oriented. Our wedding was at Hammond Castle in Gloucester and has a unique set up. They were able to cook AMAIZING food onsite and everything came out promptly and tasted so good. He was so detail oriented and experienced, he really put me ay ease before the wedding, and throughout the entire day. My son and daughter in law just had their wedding at the Carriage House at Lynch Park Beverly with Vinwood. From the start Jessica from Vinwood was the most responsive of any caterer we contacted. She was very professional and easy to work with. As the wedding date approached we also worked with Gary who was great to work with and was a wonderful day of the wedding manager. He took the worry out of anything before it became a concern. They were both awesome to work with. The entire staff at the wedding were great. The chefs, waiters and waitresses as well as the bus boys and clean up crew to the bartenders were all professional, friendly and extremely helpful. The food, what can I say about the food...The kids wanted a bbq and Vinwood offers various buffet themed events. We went with the Western BBQ which included salad, bread, steak tips, ribs, sausage, chicken, corn and potato salad. All were excellent and our guests were raving about the food. There was something for everyone which was great. Prices for the buffet were very reasonable and lower than some that we looked into. We used Vinwood Catering for our July 7th wedding at Smith Barn, upon receiving a recommendation from a family friend that had been a wedding planner on the North Shore for many years. We knew when starting along in the wedding planning process that the food was very important to us. To say that we were satisfied with her recommendation would be an understatement. Vinwood was more expensive than the other caterers we were considering but we truly believe that the cost was well worth it for the quality of food we received. No one in the greater Boston area needs to look any further than Vinwood for a caterer whether it's for a wedding, home party or beach clambake. The food is always delicious. The set-up tends to be prettier than what you've even imagined. Imagine the raw bar set up in a somewhat miniaturized dory-boat filled to the brim with crushed ice and topped with all the raw seafood you've chosen. Very fun presentation and a good surprise for me. A few weeks before, I had contacted the administrator of the Barn to talk about details. She happened to mention that she was throwing a party for someone, and that despite the fact that almost every catering service in New England wanted to cater the party for free, she went with Vinwood and paid full price. That's how good they are. Their staff is a well-oiled machine, courteous, efficient, and exTREMEly helpful to everyone. We asked for an extra plate of apps to keep at our table. Not to worry, it was refreshed every few minutes. When we wanted to sit down and eat, the staff fixed us a plate. And the food. Oh my god, the food. We had a clambake with lobster (perfectly steamed with drawn butter and broth) BBQ chicken (moist, lip-smackin' and awesomely sauced), steamers, and a bunch of sides. Everything was amazing. Vinwood is nothing short of amazing. Vinwood catered our wedding at Glen Magna in October 2008. The staff was excellent: professional, attentive, and accommodating to a few special requests that came up last minute. During our photos, they followed us around with drinks and appetizers to be sure we didn't miss out. The food was excellent! Along with 6 scrumptious hors d'oeuvres we had selected, we chose the Harvest Salad (mixed greens, dried cranberries, spiced walnuts, goat cheese, sliced pears, walnut vinaigrette) and Prime Rib with Twice-Baked Potato and Green Beans with Cashews for the (plated) entree. Everyone raved about the dinner, and we were definitely impressed. Prime Rib is a personal favorite of ours, and Vinwood did not disappoint! Our experience with Vinwood was truly perfect. When I was planning my wedding, I visited many caterers before making my decision. Although I didn't choose Vinwood Caterers, I just want to share why. Their pricing was the cheapest out of any caterer I found out of our selection of North Shore caterers. They do have great reviews (from the internet, and from people we know) and they did make a great first impression on us. In fact, they made to the final caterers we chose from. They worked with our budget and seemed like they could handle a 150 person wedding with ease. The main reason we didn't hire them? They wouldn't give us a tasting of their food prior to our hiring them. Perhaps, they don't do tastings in order to cut costs but that didn't seem like a valid enough reason for us. We believe that we should experience the product before paying thousands of dollars. We asked them a few times if they would reconsider and they wouldn't do it. Oh my gosh, where to even start with how great Vinwood is? We came into this process of wedding planning very wary of getting ripped off, hidden fees, bait-and-switches, etc. Vinwood happily put up with endless questions, contract changes, etc from us to ensure we were completely happy with our package and knew what to expect. We were a little nervous about the lack of tasting but considering with the menu they send you 3 pages of references, we took that as good enough. Well, our wedding was 2 weeks ago and we could NOT have been happier! The food was *amazing*, the set-up and decor were way way better than any of the details I had planned, the staff was absolutely lovely. My mother told me they were calling her "Mrs. E" all night and made sure all her needs were catered to (as an aside: *I* was their client, not my mother). The staff was really wonderful to us and did a great job turning over our room since we had to enact the dreaded rain plan for our outdoor wedding. Everything went smoothly and shockingly - there were no crazy overcharges or hidden service charges that we had been warned to look out for with all of our vendors. Vinwood catered my wedding reception this past weekend. The guests had nothing but good things to say about the food. The crab cake appetizers & fish chowder were especially popular. My dad had 2 servings of the baked haddock and wished he had room for more. The servers did a great job dealing with bad weather conditions, as they had to protect food from the pouring rain on their walk from the prep area to the party tent. We chose to go with Vinwood based upon their great reputation, and also because they really covered all the details on their initial proposal. This made the event planning all the easier. Vinwood Caterers did an amazing job! We wanted our wedding to be a party - open bar, fun food and lots of dancing. We wanted everyone to enjoy the food, but not be tied to their seats for 3 courses. We decided to do a cocktail style reception with some tapas style stations. We totally made up our own menu (Sliders & Fries, Chinese Take-Out and Mac 'n Cheese Bar) and Vinwood ran with it! They made some suggestions, added some things and scheduled everything perfectly. We got married at Glen Magna with the reception under a tent...and it poured! I'm not just talking rain, I mean torrential downpour rain! Vinwood didn't miss a beat. The rain didn't appear to affect them at all. Everything came out on time and was delicious. Guests absolutely loved the food and said it was the best they've had at a wedding. During the planning process, you do end up dealing with a few different people. We had two in-person meetings with two different people, and then a third person was there on the day of our wedding. In the planning process, we exchanged emails with a couple of different people, but bottom line, all questions were always answered and everything was taken care of. They do not do tastings, which I understand can be nerve-wracking, but you need to trust the reviews. The food is amazing. Everyone loved it. Besides, what guaranty do you have that the event food will be as good as the food at a tasting? I can't cook, but I could probably make a delicious meal for 4-6 people. Anybody could do that! How do you know it'd be just as delicious for 130 or more people? You don't know that. Vinwood doesn't do tastings and the reality is they don't have to. Their reputation is strong enough and the positive reviews are numerous enough so they don't need to waste time and money on that step. Frankly I was happy to not have to deal with that. There's enough going on with wedding planning as it is, so not having to attend a tasting was fine by me! Also, the staff is incredibly hardworking, very friendly, and easy to deal with. read more

Do not be afraid that Vinwood does not do tastings. You won't need one. I just worked with them on my reception and although I barely got to eat anything, I saw our guests going up for at least seconds. We had so much cake left over because everyone was so full from the wonderful dinner. Luckily they gave my husband and I little To-Go boxes to have later that night. We first chose Vinwood because they were on the preferred list of the venue we chose. Then after speaking with them, they not only had an extensive list of delicious food offerings (including pumpkin ravioli), they said that it was no problem for them to work with my husband's gluten allergy (which they did VERY well). Vinwood is also priced unbelievably reasonably for the quality of food you are getting. They were also priced below all the local competition. Besides the food itself, all of the staff is great too! From before to the day of. They respond to every email/inquiry with efficiency usually within an hour. They have great ideas to work with what your want, but do not tell you what to do. The day of everyone is so helpful and friendly. Vinwood made our crazy day that less crazy. They were a vendor that we didn't not have to worry about what-so-ever. I would definitely recommend them and use them again if I ever needed to. Their only downfall is that they don't accept credit cards. We hired Vinwood to cater our wedding at Groveland Fairways and we are really glad we did. The food was amazing and many guests were commenting about how good it was, especially the ravioli, mash potato bar, and prime rib from the carving station. They were very straightforward with their costs and fees which was great. They also helped us work through a few different proposals when we were considering different menu styles. There were a few times where we had to send reminder emails to get pricing back from them but nothing major. They don't offer tastings, but take it from me, the food is excellent. We were fortunate to attend an exclusive tasting they held at Groveland Fairways and the food was great and really put our mind at ease. I am so glad we picked vinwood as the caterer for our wedding!! The food was absolutely amazing! Everyone was talking about the steak and the mac and cheese bar for days afterwards! They waiters were very attentive and the dining manager made sure that I always had a drink in my hand and made sure I ate! They even made sure that I tried the mac and cheese from the mac and cheese bar, which was our late night snack. I was so busy dancing I didn't realize they had put it out! There was one little hiccup during the night when our champagne glasses were accidentally shattered. Its not often that guests rave about the food at a wedding. Typically the music, the venue and the dress are talked about for weeks after, but the food at weddings is pretty typically forgettable. This is not the case with Vinwood caterers. We first heard about Vinwood after our friends chose them as their caterer for their wedding at the Hellenic center. We knew we had to hire them, and as it turns out, Vinwood is the exclusive caterer of our reception venue (Turner Hill) and after sampling a meal with them, it is evident why. The staff at Vinwood were polite, accommodating and helpful. They paid very close attention to allergies, and special diets, it was almost as if they knew each guest personally. The ingredients are always fresh, and we had about the most tender short rib I have ever tasted. They say that the bride and groom never get a chance to eat at their wedding, but we made sure we did. The staff at Turner Hill works flawlessly with the staff at Vinwood to make sure that every single guest had their needs met. Vinwood is a bit pricey, but they are worth it. the quality of food and service you get is worth any additional money you may pay. Perhaps my favorite part of the whole experience was the after dinner "s'mores bar". It was such a cool and unique addition to our reception that our guests are still raving about. WOW. We could not have pulled off our wedding without Shawn and the Vinwood staff. It was like having a team of wedding ninjas! We used Vinwood for our reception at Smith Barn on Brooksby Farm in Peabody. A month before the wedding, we met with Shawn to go over details-- and I mean every last detail. Her planning was essential to making sure everything was running smoothly and on time during the big day. During the wedding itself, the staff was super speedy. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated this. We only had the venue for a few hours, so it would have been heartbreaking if we lost dancing and mingling time because we were waiting too long in between courses or for plates to be cleared. They were on it! The food was great. We did a cheese display during the cocktail hour (which my hungry guests were super grateful for) and then chose a chicken main dish. Everything came out hot and delicious and there certainly wasn't anything wilted or stale (as someone complained about in a tasting). It was very well done for such a large group. For the Smith Barn venue and our party of 107 people, the h'or deurves were $7.95/pp and the main dish was $49.95/pp, including gratuity, service charges, etc. For this particular venue, that cost also included the linens, plates, tables and chairs, and setup. I did think their prices were a bit high at first-- but when I realized how much it costs to rent all that stuff and have it set up, I appreciated that this was actually a totally reasonable deal. So the food was great, the price was good-- but where Vinwood really shined was their help during the big day. As I said, it was like having a whole team of wedding coordinators on site. Shawn was there from the moment I arrived at the venue, helping me out of the car and holding my dress so it didn't get muddy. Anytime my mom was holding a bag or went to set something up, Shawn was magically by her side. "Here, let me get that for you." And the next thing we knew, she had somehow come up with a box of straight pins and was hanging the garland, perfectly spaced, across the front of the gift table. We had a weird assortment of desserts (mini cheesecakes, platters of Italian cookies, berries) and no real plan for how to set anything up. Yet, Vinwood instantly made a beautiful display out of all the mish-mosh. Even the little details were excellent: for example, there was a guy standing near the coffee station; if a bit of coffee ever dripped out and landed on the little saucer plate, he was right there, immediately wiping it away. Just really nice touches that you're hard-pressed to find in even the nicest of restaurants or hotels, let alone from a catering company. At the end of the night, they somehow had all of decorations and centerpieces gathered by the door waiting for us as soon as we needed to leave. How?! How did they do it?! And without us noticing or feeling like we were being rushed?! Oh, we had those special toast glasses for the bride and groom, I hope those didn't get mixed up with the other glassware... Oh wait, they found them, washed them, and put them back in their box waiting for us. Ditto with the cakestand and server. So, in summary: the food was great, the service was indispensable. We used Vinwood as the caterers for our wedding at Peabody's Smith Barn on 5/1. From initial contact until the end of my wedding, these guys were amazing. The staff is easy and helpful to deal with (always responded to emails quickly), their menu, pricing and selection is outstanding and the actual services they provided on the wedding day were amazing. I really can't see how our wedding would have worked out without them there. We had a sunday brunch with eggs, potatoes, mini french toast and a ham carving station, but the highlight was the macaroni and cheese! It took the cake!! Not only are our guests still raving about the food we had, but Vinwood took care of all the details from setting up ceremony chairs to table centerpieces to helping me and my coordinator streamline a stress-free timeline. Definitely one of the highlights of our wedding reception was the food - and our friends are foodies, so that's saying something! Vinwood did everything with perfection. The food WAS delicious (and I hate food served in masse!), well-cooked, and beautifully presented. The staff was professional, kind, and quick - our guests raved about them! We did have two issues, which I hate to even mention because they really set the tone for the whole night, but I feel like it's important to be honest. First, the toasts began and we (bride and groom) had nothing in our glasses! An oversight on their part. Second, and most importantly, we had specifically asked that there be no nuts served with the meal because of a severe nut allergy in our family. When our server came to bring us our food, she asked if I wanted pine nuts and I almost choked in disbelief at what I was hearing. As soon as I reminded her that there were not supposed to be nuts, she said, "Oh right, that was written across the top of our sheets, sorry." I was appalled, knowing that we had promised our wedding to be nut-free and there was a huge bowl of nuts out! Talk about an oversight, it was almost a disaster. I was so, so, sooo disappointed because they really were exceptional in every other way and that was the one thing that made me feel like they were just "cranking out another event" and not paying attention to OUR needs. She apologized and after I said, "get the nuts off the premesis," I think she knew I meant business. Everything went swimmingly after that. Trust me when I say that we were on a TIGHT budget and Vinwood still worked with us to make it feasible. They were so, so worth every penny and we would hire them again in an instant. Where do I even begin? Everyone raved about the food at my wedding this past weekend. I got married at the Elks at Bass Rocks and Vinwood is one of their preferred vendors. Choose them. Really! We LOVED everything. I mean truly impressive. There was a raw bar which was to.die.for. Cheese and crackers with fruit which was tasty and beautifully arranged. The passed apps were BEYOND GOOD! Everyone was super attentive and highly polite. They also served the bride and groom, knowing that if we had tried to walk up to the stations we would be accosted by every guest wanting to congratulate us! One guest commented to me about the fact that they were impressed at Vinwood's ability to cook perfect asparagus for over 100 people! Also, the staff was great at taking away the dirty/used plates and glasses, etc. There were never any dirty dishes piling up. In fact at one point I was getting a cupcake and a chocolate-covered strawberry. Before I even walked away from the table, another cupcake was placed in the empty spot where mine had been only 1 minute before! Amazing. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! read more

Vinwood is amazing! If they are catering your event, you don't have to worry about a thing! My husband and I recently were married and we chose Vinwood for our caterer. It has so many great reviews and was personally recommended by a few friends so we booked with them before we even tasted the food. So glad we did! We did do a tasting but honestly the tasting was not as good as the actual wedding day! On the day of, the food was hot and delicious... great by normal standards, not just great for wedding food! Presentation was beautiful and service was amazing! We had a server that kept checking on my husband and me at our sweetheart table to make sure we had everything we needed. They also brought us out a fresh entrees because we got interrupted for photos while we were eating and our plates had gotten cold! We had the seared filet and the herb crusted chicken. We had many compliments from guests! People are still commenting on the grilled cheese and tomato bisque shooters and late night sliders! Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to taste the middle-eastern tower ourselves but it was a hit with our guests as well. I loved the roasted garlic that was served in the basket of bread! Jessica was our contact person during planning and was very responsive with emails and phone calls and was quick to answer any questions we had. This is more of a 4.5. Vinwood catered my husband's and my wedding and overall, they were fantastic. They came up with what I thought was a great menu, and were _very_ professional and responsive throughout. I interviewed maybe 10 caterers, and Vinwood was the quickest to respond with helpful information, etc. so they got the job. A few small issues we had: The food at the wedding was not hot. It was kind of lukewarm. My husband and I were the first ones served, so if our food wasn't hot, I doubt anyone else's was. That was unfortunate. Also, we had given them two very specific requests in advance (a vegan meal, a person who needed a special seat), and as the meal began, we realized neither of them had been met. They forgot. So my husband had to get up from the table and start scrambling around trying to coordinate with wait staff about which guy should get the vegan meal and where one person should sit. I don't really think the groom should have to do that at the wedding. Also, no tastings. Period. All in all though, I was very happy with them. read more

We used Vinwood for our wedding on September 9, 2012, and we are so happy we did. We had been looking at another catering company that seemed more affordable than Vinwood, but they did not include their fees and taxes in their quotes. So in the end, Vinwood was more affordable and if you have ever been to a catered event on the North Shore, it was most likely Vinwood that catered it and their food is absolutely amazing. Our ceremony and reception was at Smith Barn in Peabody, and our catering coordinator was Shawn, and I cant thank her enough for everything. I made our centerpieces, and also had quite a few things that needed to be set up for the reception and Shawn handled everything perfectly! We also had Erica to serve just myself and my husband food so we didn't have to get up from our table for anything. I am glad to say that we had enough time to sample everything that was served and it was all delicious. We hired Vinewood for our wedding in November 2018 that was held at the Elks in Gloucester. And they were excellent. I give them a 10 on scale of 1-10. Everyone we dealt with was professional and easy to deal with. They made the whole wedding process easier and less stressful. Gary was our main point of contact and he was great. We also had our own server on our wedding night named Jenn and she made our night 10x better by being so attentive to anything we needed. And I've heard from over 30 guests so far who thought the food was fantastic. We had the buffet and selected haddock, NY sirloin, and butternut squash ravioli. All were excellent. We loved working with Vinwood for our wedding. Stephanie, in particular, was a huge help in the months leading up to the wedding weekend. We decided to have her on hand for the wedding day itself which was a great decision - she made sure everything went smoothly, from the catering set up to decoration placement to bus drop offs. It was a stressful couple days before our wedding with a hurricane coming and us working and re-working plans but it was Vinwood that made everything go off without a hitch. I'm not sure how they did it, but they seamlessly turned a ceremony space into a dining room and then into a dance floor. When I entered the room and the candles and flowers were everywhere I was so happy. The food was spectacular, the staff was wonderful and attentive. I truly couldn't have asked for more. Vinwood provides impeccable service and wonderful food at a reasonable price, which is unheard of in the wedding business! Vinwood catered my wedding in March 2013 at Cruiseport Gloucester. The food was delicious. They were very organized and professional. I received many compliments from my guests regarding the food. Our choices were herb crusted chicken, lobster and filet mignon, or ravioli's with red pepper in a cream sauce. All dishes were prepared well. Highly recommend! read more

We were guests (from New Jersey) at a wedding in April 2015 that was catered by Vinwood Caterers at Castle Hill in Ipswich. The venue was breathtaking and it was complimented by the high quality of cuisine and service. The appetizers were "pieces of art" each uniquely created and mouthwatering. The servers were kind enough to frequent our location during the cocktail party! Dinner followed and was consistent with its quality and presentation. We met Evy Gillette, the banquet event manager and we complimented her and Vinwood for their professionalism, first class service and attentiveness to the guests.
