The Draper Mercantile And Trading Company - I've been a NYC and LA foodie for a while and this is one of the best breakfast burgers I have ever had.

It was a bit busy so we expected a slight delay on drinks/food, but our server kept checking on us every few minutes and kept our drinks full. The atmosphere/design is very unique and offers great talking points for the table. You can look around and always find something new you haven't seen before. For food, I got the French dip, my husband got the fried catfish, and mom got the smash burger. Food was EXCELLENT. The au jus from the French dip was not overly salty as I've had in the past, and it was the perfect amount for the sandwich. Not like other places that will either give you a big tub of au jus or ever a small saucer cup. After lunch, we walked around as they have a shopping area inside with soaps, handmade pottery/kitchenware, and local vendor products such as hatch chile cream cheese and pickled vegetables. Price was very favorable too and didn't seem to be overly priced where the business/vendor up charges significantly to make a huge profit. Definitely worth stopping by even if you only have time for Togo coffee, a snack, of just to shop around!

Tucked away in the hills of Draper, the Mercantile and Trading Company restaurant is in a remodeled restaurant that used to be a post office. It is reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel but with more style, pizzazz and variety of products available, from stationery to kitchen gadgets to homemade chocolates. The server seated us and was very attentive to our needs. From the bottomless coffee to the follow-up order for one of those homemade biscuits, our server made us feel like we were her only customer! We loved this! Our family ordered the eggs, bacon and toast, as well as a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the granola parfait with berries, and the kid-sized omelette with a side of sausage patties. The portions were large and no one was left wanting for more food. We had to try the biscuit, so we sampled parts of it but ended up getting most of it "to go." The flavor reminded me of the biscuits my mom used to make when I was a kid. Delicious! We highly recommend this restaurant and know you will find a little bit of something for everyone here. The restaurant has plenty of room for all diners, inside or on the large wraparound porch. The food is served in large portions and the service is second to none. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in the area.

There was ample seating outside the checkout area; about half the seats and tables were under a covered, very large screened porch, the other half is out in the sun with large umbrellas to provide shade. The vineyard itself is small but the view is pretty and the wine we had was very good. The staff were all helpful and friendly. They have one bathroom available to customers but it was very clean, well-stocked with supplies, and the water was hot with good pressure (which is important for hand cleanliness). This trip was a 5 hour drive from where we live, so if we come back again, it would be for another family reunion. But, if you're local or a short drive away, it's definitely worth checking it out.

Reservations are only recommended for groups larger than 6, BUT I would recommend it for anyone who plans on coming as the venue is small. Reservations are 1.5 hours in length. We ordered a Sweet Flight and a Dry Flight as well as a small charcuterie board. The sweet flight and charcuterie board were delicious. The Dry Flight had tasted like it had turned. Staff was nice enough to let us try the Off Dry Flight in turn. They are dog friendly as long as dog is friendly and leashed.

So I was a little unsure whether the wine selection at Beliveau Farm Winery would be for me. But I'm happy to say that these guys are making some great wine. Yvan and Joyce, the owners, know what they are doing in terms of grapes and wine, because they have traveled and enjoyed wine from all around the world. They have a good thing going on here. When I visited, I did a wine tasting, which was paired with different flavored potato chips. So I got to taste several different wines. I'm more of a red wine gal, but one of my favorites at Beliveau is the Crazy Professor, which is a white wine blend: Vidal Blanc, Chardonel, Pinot Gris. They also have a tasty Cab Franc (one of my favorites, too), and another Crazy Professor wine, but this one is a red called The Professor's Crazy Estate Blend, which is Cab Franc, Syrah, Merlot and Tempranillo. Almost all of my favorites in one bottle! So, yes, you will find some great Virginia wines here. You can enjoy a glass indoors or outdoors. I hope you sit outdoors, though, because the grounds are beautiful and expansive. This place is kid-friendly and pet-friendly, too. There's lots of open space for kids to run around, and some big rocks for them to climb on.

Davis is a winery/distillery combo. One side of the massive building is a small wine tasting room,…read morewhile the other side offers a distillery tasting. The middle is a warehouse. Davis has 45 acres of vines - which is actually a huge planting. They seem to specialize in Chambourcin and other hybrid grapes, like Steuben, Marshal Foch, as well as some Pinot Noir (which grows decently in the area) and Chardonnay. Prices were very reasonable, although they tended to serve sweet and semi sweet styles, which isn't my thing The wine was OK, but I LOVED the distillery. I had a very brief, off-the-cuff tour, followed by a tasting. The maple bourbon was excellent and lives up to its name (I bought a bottle). But I also liked their moonshines, especially the apple. The 'heritage' bourbon was spicy, which was interesting but not for me.

We were told we could select 3 wines to sample. What they didn't explain was that my husband and I were to share those samples...we weren't allowed to each select 3. The staff member stood in silence as we sampled the wines, offering no information on what we were sampling. Very awkward and rude. Neither of us cared for the wines we selected. The distillery staff member was a slight improvement over the winery tasting, but not enough to save the rating. He was friendly enough, but didn't care for the spirits either. I wouldn't recommend to someone traveling through.
