Couldn't wait to drink some before taking the pic - oops

Moon Hollow is another one of the many great breweries around Blacksburg. Unlike some other breweries, they do not serve food, but there was a food truck at the brewery as well as a Mexican restaurant next door that delivers food right to your table. The drinks were fantastic - I got all of the sours, which were really good. Ambiance and vibes were also really nice, although not as open as Eastern Divide/Rising Silo. Not quite as much outdoor seating, either.

This little hidden gem of a brewery was such a fun discovery! Not only was the backcountry road drive to get there beautiful, but the vibe and ambiance here was super chill and enjoyable for some quiet solitude. I absolutely loved that they had open-window barstool seating facing the patio and adjacent farm. It was such a great way to enjoy my flight and breathing in the fresh air! Staff were super nice and I liked how they priced their flight options. You could try as little or as many beers as you wanted for a fixed price for each option! The beers were great and I thoroughly enjoyed my time here! If you're ever in the area, or just passing through, this place is definitely worth a respite! Great beer, atmosphere, and staff! I can't wait to visit again! Parking is super easy and plentiful. A quick drive from Radford or Blacksburg.

Visited for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it! This place was absolutely packed and they seem to be handling it well for the first few days of being open. I tried the sour beer they have and the ginger beer (non-alcoholic). Both were delicious and I would recommend them. The service was really great and quick even though they were very busy. The workers here do a great job of being personable to guests even when it is hectic. The location is really interesting since it is the site of an old school. You drive all the way around to the back to see them! They also have a nice outdoor area with tables and food trucks that visit - nice! My only recommendation for the management here are to consider getting heat lamps or some sort of coverings for outside during the cold months. The space can definitely be utilized but it's hard when guests are cold and just want to be inside. Parking was also tight but I attributed that to the ongoing construction nearby and an easy fix for once this place takes off in popularity. Hoping to be back soon and bring more friends here!

We discovered this new brewery on Yelp after looking into breweries to try for a week in Blacksburg. The place was beautifully decorated with a simple and chill vibe. I am a fan of lighter, fruitier beers and I was really excited about the variety they had in that selection of beers. The flight I got included the Smoothie Talker (a nitro beer), Mountain Mist Hard Seltzer, Ebb & Flow Pale Sour Ale, J&L Tropical Vacation Saison, and J&L Lavender Fields Sour Saison. My top favorite out of that flight was the J&L Lavender Fields Sour Saison! I wanted to take this drink home with me because it is such a summer vibe! Also the staff are phenomenal and helped me create an amazing flight specialized to my likings. Moon Hollow was quite a gem and definitely planning on coming back to try new taps!

Lavendar black currant sour - yummy!

While visiting my mother in the Blacksburg area recently she mentioned she had noticed that this place had opened up. We stopped by, and what a great visit it was! In normal times, the friendly staff, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and tasty beer, combined with the occasional food truck, make for a pleasant evening. In COVID times, they have gone to great pains to space out interior tables, open windows for a flow of fresh air, and make plenty of outdoor seating available with heat lamps. It feels perfectly safe. But the beer. THE BEER!!! I live in Seattle, where I am surrounded by first-class microbreweries. I have become quite a beer snob. The beer brewed here rivals anything I've had anywhere else. There are plenty of IPAs and other crowd-pleasers, but I was most excited to see the creative items on the list. We had Lavender Fields, a sour brewed with black currants and lavendar. It had a lovely color, and one of the most interesting, innovative, and delicious flavors I've ever had. I saw the upcoming tap list includes an orange cardamom amber. We liked this place so much that we went twice on my visit to the area. On the second visit I spoke with the taproom manager, and she told me the head brewer is female. Did you know that only 4% of head brewers are female? I love supporting a local business, a female in a male-dominated field, and a product that inspires creativity. They even have a "pay it forward" list where you can pre-pay for a beer for an upcoming visitor. There were several to individuals who must be regulars, but there were some for "a hard-working health care worker" and my favorite, "a phenomal black woman". We contributed a couple of beers to the latter. There is everything to love about this place. I'm so glad we discovered it.

By doing so I was able to confirm firsthand my suspicion of my amazing finding and wanted to share with the readers of my review so that they too are able to enjoy this golden needle in the haystack never explored, yet in their back yard. But before I begin, I would like to thank and give tribute to the business partners who came up with idea of this place and never allowed their life circumstances get in the way of making their dream come true for all of us, the community, to be able to share and enjoy. Twisted Track Brewpub is more than just a full-service brewery and kitchen, serving upscale food and beverages in a cool and relaxed environment. It is the perfect meeting place and entertainment venue for families and friends to meet and share quality time with each other in a safe and amusing place. First of all I was very impressed by the beautiful, open space architectural design of the building's interior as well as its exterior front seating area patio. They are welcoming and make you feel at home. When you arrive and walk inside you are immediately captivated by the place with tables and chairs all over, and a ramp and stairs that lead to a counter high above where orders are taken and paid for after you've had an opportunity to examine the menus which have been placed on every table. There "just the right size" and quality food selection menu made me want to enjoy all items listed. Especially accompanying them with a side of their very unique and amazing fat curly fries, which they call "Twisted Fries." At the counter, and extremely welcoming and friendly young lady greeted me with a smile and explained the variety of drinking items available, including very creative non-alcoholic drinks, such as the Collective Art Guava Go, which I ended up having. After ordered this and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with an order of Twisted Fries, I paid and was given my drink and a beeper to notify me when my order was ready and to go pick it up at the order pickup counter. After I sat down at a table of my choosing facing a small stage on the left side of the building, the beeper beeped and I went to pick up my order. Again the staff their were very friendly and nice. They even allowed me to photograph other menu items that were waiting on the counter for my readers to be able to view and admire. Then as I enjoyed the food that was amazingly delicious, including those amazing Twisted Fries, I looked around and the clientele seemed to be just normal and clean folks enjoying a good time. There was a group of what looked like business associates at one of the large tables. A family at another table, where the father was playing UNO with his son, using gigantic size cards. A couple at another table and so on. Many seemed like repeat customers. Since it was a Friday evening. Friday, January 17th to be more precise. It was Live Music Night and William Seymour, a musician and recording artist from Noth Carolina was scheduled to perform. He practiced on the stage for a while. Them came down and handed out his very creative square business cards with a QR code to be able to pay for TIPS and merchandise with venmo. He then went up the stage and sang and played his guitar. To conclude all I can say is: What an extraordinary dining and entertaining experience this has been. I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable evening with family and friends, and am honored to be the one who has been able to make you aware of this gem of a place.

Bulls & Bones: Burgers, BBQ & Brewpub has a lot of "B" alliteration going on. I felt like a steak when I visited, so I went for it. I got the USDA Angus Sirloin, which comes with two sides (I chose steamed broccoli and fries). The steak and sides were good and simple, which was just what I was feeling like that night. I visited Bull & Bones with a group of people, and we ordered a few appetizers to share, so I got to taste some things on the menu. First of all, we got complimentary potato chips for the table. Sweet! We also ordered the fried pickles (not my thing, but people were going off on them). Also, we got two orders of the wings: one was boneless wings with buffalo sauce, and the other was regular bone-in wings with Caroline Gold sauce. My favorite were the wings with Carolina Gold sauce, because of the flavor. They were so savory and slightly sweet. For dessert, we got the warm cookie with two scoops of ice cream (yum!) and the blueberry lemon cake, which didn't look like much but tasted amazing. A little bit of dessert goes a long way, and I think you could get away with sharing a dessert, for sure. The ambiance at Bulls & Bones is casual. It's a sit-down restaurant, but it's not fancy at all.

He seemed to genuinely care about us and our orders; extremely accommodating and polite. The place was rather nice inside too for a brewpub! As we sat down our table was given a small sample of their house made potato chips, they were pretty good, would've been even better in some ranch! With that, the main food: I got a Chicken Caesar wrap and added bacon, honestly it was pretty good. The chicken had good flavor, it was very filling, and adding the bacon stepped it up a notch. For the cons, I wish it would've had more Caesar dressing, and the portion for the price it felt a little smaller than I was expecting. Overall a hearty wrap! I also got the 4 cheese Mac for my side. I was so excited to try it because I've heard people rave about it, but it sort of fell flat for me. If you really like a super creamy mac n cheese this is for you! I just wish there would've been a bit more flavor, some depth, for a premium side I just don't think this did it for me. Overall, great service, cute place right outside the big mall area, but I think the food is a little more average than I was hoping for. If there was an option I'd say it lands more at a 3.5 than a 3. Then again, I only got the wrap and mac, and I know they are more known for the bbq and burgers at the moment, so give those a fair chance!
