I can't possibly imagine (without a certain head start) how it is that there might be a costume…read moreshop happening in the shadows of the West 7th corridor, but here we were, just ambling by, when it was brought to my attention that 'hey, there's a full-on costume shop there!' Don't hold me to the quotes, but you get the general idea. It's a pretty simple arrangement at Harris, where they've been plying their trade in one way or another for something in the area of 63 years (I think that actually may be the real figure), and they're pretty savvy when it comes to helping you sort what you're after. At some point there was a fire, and we'll assume for the sake of argument that it was bad, as this business doesn't exist in those environs any longer. But nowadays they bring the rental side just fine (mental note: there are tons of hats), and the sales side is pretty fun too (if you're in the market for a feather boa they have you wrangled). No time to dig super deep stem to stern today, but quite impressed by all I found in the near term. Here's hoping you find what suits you directly.

They suggested sizing based on weight and height and the suit fit our Santa like a glove and looked great! They accepted payment over the phone and allowed a friend who was coming down from Fort Worth to pick up for us.

I was happy to see that Spirit was open until 10 because I don't get off of work until late. I go in at about 9:25 and pick a few costumes. At 9:40, I'm waiting by the dressing room for somebody to come over so I can try them on and be out of there before they close. At 9:45 I walk around and let someone know I need to try a costume on. I am then told that the dressing room is closed. So I tell her that there is 15 minutes til close. I hate being that person, but I was planning on putting the costumes back myself so they wouldn't have to stay later because of me. She tells me again that it's closed even though it's not 10 yet. I'm pretty upset at this point because I drove 20 minutes to get there and rushed over right after work. I ask her, so I'm supposed to pay $60-$70 for a costume that is final sale without even trying it on? She points around to the store and tells me, "We still have to pick all of this up." Oh I'm SO sorry! I didn't realize you're working for free! Oh wait.. you're being paid for it? I cannot believe they expect you to do your job in exchange for money. How crazy is that! That has to be a violation of labor laws. I will be contacting Texas Work Force Commission to let them know that you are being forced to do work in exchange for pay. Just kidding, I'll be calling corporate instead. I walked out without a costume of course, as did 2 other people.
