    Kickin' Shrimp Tacos

I've had the Cubanos from the food truck before and they were awesome, but this was the first time coming to the actual restaurant/bar. We chose to sit in the bar area tonight. Cool atmosphere, fun vibe. Everything on the menu looked great, so it was hard to choose, but I went with the Chicken Esquite sandwich, as it had the corn and the slaw on it, which are two of my faves. Sigh. I didn't want to be disappointed, but I'm afraid I was. It came out, looked alright, although a bit undercooked in my opinion. I took a bite and it was pretty dry. Not like a meaty, saucy, spicy, cheesy melt I'd thought it would be after having the Cubanos in the past. I asked right away for some chipotle mayo on the side as my sandwich seemed to be missing it. That helped, but I think it would have served the sandwich better had it been on the bread and a lot of it, with the cheese melted into it by being grilled longer. I opened up the half I was taking home to put the sauce on it, the corn and tortilla strips were all kind of clumped in the middle, and there really wasn't many of them. On the ride home I couldn't really remember noticing cheese, but I see it in the photo, partially melted. Chips were good and there was a sufficient amount of them. So sadly, I have to give it a 6/10 Ticket on most sandwiches here is $18, as this was. Hubby on the other hand, absolutely LOVED his shrimp tacos. (Me regretting my choice hard now) He enjoyed the tang and sweetness of the slaw, flavor of the shrimp and that the tortillas had a little char. (Haven't seen that before at a restaurant; good move.) I tried his chips; there are definitely better chip choices out there, and a little pico or salsa would have gone well with them to cut the dryness. Regardless, he thought those tacos were , and $15, I believe. Service was good and pleasant, no complaints at all there. Hubby also had some kind of Old Fashioned that looked super cool and SWANKY with the big ice cube and garnish accessory. He loved it. You can definitely tell someone cares here. I noticed the extra touches like the mega-ice cube, stylish drink spears, non-marichino cherry garnishes and a killer, well-thought out menu. These are the touches I really appreciate in a local establishment. All in all, really good experience. I'll get over my sandwich disappointment and definitely be back to try those shrimp tacos.

It. Is. Seriously. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Have been to Miami, had many many Cubanos. This is easily one of the best. If you are debating places, stop, Go here. You will not be disappointed. Service always fast and friendly too

Went to Havana's looking to try new restaurants in our local area. The lighting and colors make it feel like a warm place to be. Staff was excellent! We tried the Diablo chicken and Ropa Vieja tacos. Overall they were great! The Ropa tacos were a bit plain but in a good way. The Diablo tacos were fantastic! Spicy and interesting having the "hot Cheeto dust" sprinkled on. Rice and beans were my personal favorite out of 3 sides we de-sided on (heh). The Mac and cheese is classically tasty, while the street corn cup was unlike most corn dishes I've had. Not really comparable to a Mexican Elote. It was delicious and definitely something new that I will order again. Overall a good experience with a great atmosphere. We will be back here again for sure! We ordered 2 different types of tacos, 3 sides, and 2 drinks and the bill came to $54. Not bad at all these days.

Ok, so this is 2 different review ratings. Take into consideration we arrived just after a huge…read morerush (possibly bus) of people. We sat at the end of the bar in front of the glass wash station. Our waitress was pleasant despite. She checked in with us a few times during our meal. The prices are comperable to other similar establishments but I feel the portions here make it one step above. The wings are the huge sized wings if you like those. The curly fries (for the 2nd time) were overcooked and crunchy. They have 1919 root beer on it's own tap! It was fun to just look around at the decor and play "I Spy". The restrooms were pleasant. Now, the part I hope the owner reads. There was a busboy, whom I feel may be family, "working" there. I surmised this because if I were one of those waitresses, I'd have had some WORDS long ago. I can honestly say this young man is probably costing you way more money than having him there, unless your sole reason is to keep him out of trouble...even so. He was very obviously working harder at not working than actually doing so. I feel like this is a very common example of our youth as a whole right now. He literally, for our ENTIRE stay (which took double the time as any usual meal does due to the kitchen being so slow) basically shuffled in front of us getting in the way of every waitress trying to do their job. He opened the coolers repeatedly turning labels, looking like he was checking stock, etc. I'm certain the bottles ended up being 4 degrees warmer, especially when he left the doors cracked open. Waitresses were carrying LOADS of dishes to the back and only occasionally, when he noticed, would he go back to the kitchen only to emerge right back in front of us. He seemed to like washing glasses though. Just one or two he'd slowly concentrate on them spending as much time as possible. Nothing like someone's face constantly inches from your food. Another time after coming from the back, he switched the big screen from football to car racing, which was also on the smaller TV. People were mildly watching the game. They had to ask a waitress to switch it back. When we were finished with our meals, we neatly stacked the tray/basket/silverware with the napkins on top, clearly indicating they were ready to be taken, at the edge of the bar, pretty much right under his nose as he washed glasses. Nope, the lightbulb didn't go on. A waitress came and took mine away. My Mom finished hers later and did the same. Still he didn't get a clue. I could see the frustration on the other's faces. I was exhausted just watching him do absolutely nothing. PLEASE teach this young man manners, consideration, work ethic, and teamwork. If he plans to go into management of any kind, nevermind, carry on. At the very least, find someplace else for him to be and alleviate the frustration for those employees who ARE trying to do their jobs. On the flip side, if I were to give the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he was doing his intended job of monitoring other employees to ensure everything is on the up and up and to report back. In any case, this seems to be going more into a rant than a review of the establishment. Love Gronk's in general and look forward for an opportunity to stop in when I'm in town. Don't miss out!

The difference is when I saw at the bar, I had a very prompt interaction with one of the bartenders. I was provided fresh pork rinds to try the bbq sauces with. The horseradish was my favorite. They gave me a breakdown of the entire place and stayed very attentive. I try to not bother anyone except whoever my waiter/waitress is, but here it didn't matter. Everyone behind the bar was very kind and helpful. They gave me phenomenal recommendations on the food and drinks. We were swayed to try this place due to other Yelp reviews and are so thankful we did! We started with an appetizer of fries. These were SO good! Perfect combination of crisp and soft and served with tasty sauces to dip in. The main courses were wonderful. I had the chicken burrito bowl which was a flavor explosion of fabulousness! Huge portions with plenty to take home. My husband had the burger and raved about the flavor combination. He would have liked the ability to choose how he wanted it prepared as he prefers more of a medium rather than done burger. My daughter and cousin both got sandwiches and enjoyed them completely. The side items at our table also got raving reviews including the cream corn, the grits, and the fritters. Nothing was sub par! My granddaughter did not like her Mac and cheese as it was made from scratch and not a box and the flavors were a little more adult than she is. :). The only negatives we had were minor. Kids receive a menu with a coloring page but no crayons. Hard to occupy them with just a picture. The second is the inability to have your burger done to your taste. The last was the server was not very attentive. We had to ask for drink refills and she promptly forgot to fill them. Didn't check in enough to see if we were ok. However, the person who brought out the food was super good and helped increase the service rating. Overall, because of the quality of the food we would recommend and return ourselves. They have a wonderful patio for outdoor dining and we would love to try that in the future. Even though we were there during the lunch rush, it was not too loud to hold conversation and it felt very homey! Perfect summer evening venue!
