I had the Prawn dinner-- the coconut almond crispy coating was delicious. My one complaint-- why the side of frozen french fries? I'd substitute either hand-cut fries or a baked potato. read more

To be honest, I found this place because I was looking for a dog-friendly restaurant to grab food and this was the only thing in the area that seemed promising. That being said, the food, service, and location completely blew me away! I stopped by with my bf and some of his friends. We had a party of 4 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. Since we brought our dogs along, we had to sit outside. They have a really cute seating area by the lawn, but it was chilly out and the heat lamps weren't working in that area. Instead of having us suffer in the cold or turning us away, they made it work by moving us to the patio area and got the heat lamps in that space working. We didn't have a 'normal' table, but I'm so grateful that they were willing to make it work by bringing seats to the coffee table so that we could all be comfortable and dine together with our doggos. Our waitress was also very thoughtful and brought out a bowl of water for our dogs. She was very attentive and it was this act of kindness for our fur babies that pushes this review to 5 stars. In terms of the food, everything was on the pricier end, but was very delicious and had great quality. Between my bf and I, we had the calamari, fish & chips, and the prime rib sandwich. The calamari could have been crispier, but overall, it was delicious and I enjoyed the tasty vinaigrette that it's drizzled with. I didn't care so much for the coleslaw that came with my fish & chips, but the fries were hot and crispy and the fish pieces that came with my order were huge, juicy, flaky, and crispy. I had a bite of my bf's sandwich and their food is consistently solid across the board. They actually serve you vegetables that they grow out of their garden, which is a huge testament to how fresh everything is! Lastly, the location is so beautiful if you sit outside to enjoy the view! The inside of the restaurant and hotel seemed kind of old and dingy, but the outside seating area is very quaint and cute with a great view of the water. read more

If I could have given it zero I would have. Went there for Thanksgiving Dinner last night. They charged $75 per person for the worst buffet I've ever had. The hot food had clearly in sitting in chaffing dishes for hours so the meats were stewed, overcooked & awful. The hot side dishes overall disgusting looking and weren't even hot. The cold sides looked they'd been prepared several days ago and left outside to dry out. The rolls & muffins looked like foods the local restaurants & grocery stores rejected. And the desserts were dry & bland. The server did her best, but there was no saving the food. read more

We showed up at 7 on a chilly Friday evening without reservations and were promptly seated. Service was attentive but unobtrusive, as it should be. At least one of our servers was a resident of the transitional housing that's part of the facility. The food was excellent. The house salad relies heavily on their on site garden and greenhouse and was really good. The clam chowder was great and the shrimp, fish and crab cakes were good. The bar had a good pour and also used their home grown produce where applicable such as the mint in the mojito. There was also a duo of doghouse bass and piano clearly audible from the lobby playing instrumental jazz standards. A pleasant repast in an attractive and comfortable environment. read more

Wonderful experience! My best friend & I made reservations for Saturday Brunch on my birthday. I hadn't been to Spirit Bar & Grill since before Covid, but I remembered that I really liked it the few times I'd been there. It was a nice day, so we decided to eat outside under the umbrellas. People were laid back having a good time. Some even had their dogs (who were really well behaved) outside with them. I ordered the French Toast with scrambled eggs & bacon, which was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the cucumber sandwich. We both had drinks with our meal. The waitress was amazing. The restaurant & the experience was even better than I had remembered. So happy we went there on my birthday & can't wait to go back. After our meal we walked through their beautiful gardens. Food was delicious, the ambiance is beautiful and peaceful and the service was awful!! We had reservations for 7:00 pm, we were welcomed by a nice young man who was the host for the evening and he seated us immediately but then no one talked to us for the next 30 minutes. We had to ask 4 times about a waitress and I was ready to pull the manager to speak to him when Melissa finally and reluctantly showed up to our table. No apologies, no introduction, she did not even speak to us to take an order; she just stood there uninterested. Lady, find a different job. You are obviously are not made for this one. I love this place. My grandparents used to come here for some big charity event each year, and as a kid I aspired to go to what must be such a classy place. This venue lives up to my hopes. The Old Alcohol Plant continues to try to improve its product. Last year, the restaurant was managed by Exec Chef Albert Chitwood and, while Chef did talk a good talk about his expertise and successes, the menu ended up being rather schizophrenic. Most of the offerings were "ok," but nothing spectacular. Now, renamed "Spirits," the restaurant continues to try to find its way, in my opinion. While my husband and I like to come in for apps and drinks, there really wasn't much on the starters menu beyond seafood. Calamari was pretty good but how it's served doesn't completely click. This last time, we opted for the burger and I have to say it was an improvement. The fries..ok, they are BANG on! And, a generous portion. The burger, while good, just was still average. We haven't yet actually ordered the more major entrees, but perhaps we'll have to give that a try. Was really pleased by the service this time; servers and bartender were very attentive and pleasant. I think Spirits has a lot of promise, but it's still looking to hit its groove. read more

I had doubts about this place as it is restaurant at a hotel. We were a party of four and we had made reservations. They gave us a choice of outside or inside and on such a beautiful evening, we sat outdoors. It was a garden type setting with wild herbs and plants in bloom, surrounding the patio, which overlooked the bay. Our waitress was prompt and helped with a wine selection, which included many locally made. She offered two specials for that Friday evening, The salad especially sounding delicious. ( they grow most of the vegetables themselves). Three of us selected the Panko breaded Cod and chips, one selected the pork loin. The fish was fresh, light and flaky but a little smaller than I expected and I wished i had upsized to 3 pieces. The fries were better than most. The pork loin was generous, cooked properly and served with a bed of fresh vegetables and potatoes nicely seasoned. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. I was very happy with this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone visiting the quaint Port Hadlock area. read more

Maybe I expected too much. Selected here for spouse's birthday and website menu listed pork loin - their favorite. Made reservation - arrive to 5 tables, one departing. Staff tells us it will be a few as they are only person on. A booth is bused for us but table top is dripping wet - when we ask to have it wiped dry we are told we can move to another table. We simply wipe it down with the cloth napkin and ask for clean napkins. The menu is minimal - entrees are burger, fish & chips, fettuccine, & eggplant. We understand that there needs to be flexibility with current food supplies but that means keeping media updated to reflect menu options. We asked about having Alfredo sauce with our bread instead of marinara and we're told entrees are already dished and there isn't extra Alfredo - it was an odd explanation. We had the calamari as an appetizer - yummy, definitely try this! Also clam chowder - good. I had the pork roast stew which was a special and it was good too. I drank the Allure and it was a nice unique gin cocktail. Staff too rushed and hurried - provides minimal and essentials for meal but this creates unpleasant experience and isn't healthy for staff at all. My wife and I stayed it the Old Alcohol Plant hotel for a few nights. On the first night we ate at the Spirits Bar and Grill. The dinner was fantastic. I had the Mushroom Risotto and added Grilled pPawns to it. My wife had Pasta Primavera. Both dinners were amazing and were enough to fill us up. We couldn't stop eating it. Service was outstanding and the meal was delicious. Highly recommend it. It was great to see some of the locals enjoying dinner as well. We came back Friday night after a long day hiking and was great to see both the restaurant and bar full. read more

Let's start with the good. The service was prompt and friendly. The view is beautiful. My New York steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Before I state the bad I must state I'm allergic to shellfish. My review of the Cioppino is based upon my husbands taste buds. He stated the base was thin with too many bell peppers. The seafood consisted of salmon, scallop(yes one), and prawns. The salmon was a whole over cooked fillet. The scallop was grossly undercooked. No complaints about the prawns. My spouse eats Cioppino every where we go (he may be overly critical). We live right down the road. We will eat here again to make sure our experience was not a one off. read more

Nice place! Not exceptional but 4 bright stars. We randomly selected this place for supper tonight, based on reviews, as we drove from Port Townsend to the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal. Beautiful summer Saturday evening in mid-July, we were seated right away outdoors at a high-top with adjustable umbrella to block the setting sun. Service was excellent and food very good - fettuccine w/scallops special and Reuben, and large portions some of which came home with us. Huge portions! The food was great! We are from out of town and considered a number of places all over to eat and picked this location, we were not disappointed. We had the calamari as our app then my husband ordered the Seafood Risotto. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and could not finish it. Every plate that came from the kitchen was huge! Absolutely no room for dessert, but maybe next time. The views are great and everyone followed Covid protocols. It would be a 5, but the gal seating people saw that the water glass was dirty, went to wipe off what looked like chocolate, asked if she got it and was going to give this obviously dirty glass for my water. I asked for a new glass, she was like oh okay, took it to the other gal seating people and talked about it. She came back with a new glass (maybe?). We did not drink from anything she brought. Also, it's a nice restaraunt catering toward older people please check that your staff is appropriately dressed not a mid drift, tennis shoes, and flannel. We called ahead for takeout on our way to Fort Flagler, and were incredibly impressed with Spirits! We ordered prosciutto-wrapped grilled asparagus, which came with a tasty house-grown basil aioli, and the seafood risotto. The seafood in the risotto blew us away- the clams, prawns, squid rings, salmon, and cod were all perfectly cooked, whether grilled or steamed. The risotto was lusciously creamy and cheesy- it was a decadent dish perfect for sharing. The restaurant is in The Old Alcohol Plant hotel, which has a beautiful setting on the water and a welcoming entranceway with lots of plants. They went the extra mile! Because my husband and I are in a vulnerable group for complications from Covid-19, we had not dined out since February. With family coming (and not staying with us), we decided to go out for dinner at Spirits at the Old Alcohol Plant. Knowing that I was so fearful, they went out of their way to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. They even moved two heavy tables away from other guests, so we could be socially distant but close enough to talk. The food, as always, was delicious! We recently had a wonderful "new normal" dinner here and had a fabulous time. The service was great even though you could tell everyone was working hard. Our server was super engaging. The wine list is very good. But the food! Troy is doing an amazing job of bringing his extensive background to bear on creating a memorable culinary experience. My wife's risotto reminded us of the best we've had in Italy. My seafood stew was out of this world. Amazing reduction sauce with the seafood cooked to perfection. We learned later that most of the produce is sourced locally including much which is grown on the property. Save your money. We were very disappointed not only by the atmosphere but also with the food. The decor is very dated and the rug was dirty. We should have known when we walked in and there was only 2 other people in there. The restaurant was very cold which made it very hard to even enjoy the wine. When our food came my fish was dripping with grease and my husbands prime rib sandwich ( which I specifically asked the waitress) about the meat she reassured my it was medium on the pink side did not come like that. It was so well done he couldn't even eat it. It will be a very long time before we recommend or go back. :( read more

We had another great meal tonight at Spirits Bar and Grill at the Old Alcohol Plant. The restaurant consistently delivers delicious food and good service. We have dined there at least a half dozen times in the past 6 months, and love it every time. The menu has some tasty offerings, for example the pork tenderloin churrasco is sublimely good, and I like their take on bouillabaisse. There are often nightly specials; definitely try the shrimp and grits if it's on the menu. For wine I always go for their excellent house red, a cab-merlot blend from Eastern Washington. read more
