Even though the HSR tech who was scheduled to do my service called in sick, the HSR owner was able to make other arrangements to get the work done the same day it was scheduled. Beware of bait and switch practices…read more When I contacted customer service and was quoted a basic gutter cleaning for under $300, it was not made clear it was a two part service of an inspection followed by the cleaning, to be made at a later date. The confirmation email stated that the service for December 29th was a basic gutter cleaning.  On the 29th I was contacted by James, who was at our property. I was only then informed he was there to do an inspection and the gutter cleaning would be at a later date. I live 20+ minutes away, which I let customer service know several times, and asked if we could discuss the inspection over the phone when he was finished. He said that it was really important I was there to go over his assessment in person. My husband left work in Walnut Creek to drive out to Benicia and I called Maria at customer service to schedule the actual cleaning. I expressed my irritation at the situation and she assured me it was to assess roof safety for their employees, which seemed reasonable. When I talked to my husband afterwards, he felt it was a complete waste of time and we were only needed out at the property to upsell additional gutter services. Later we received the new estimate for $1,211. I cannot believe what a ridiculous waste of time this experience has been. My husband went out Friday and cleaned the gutters and downspouts himself and it took under 2 hours. Luckily, my husband knew these upsells were unnecessary but I'm sure they've had many unaware customers pay hundreds of dollars more than they needed to. Shame on your company for these predatory business practices.
