BLUF: OK, but we've had better…read more I visited Retro Cheesesteaks and Tenders because a friend was invited to a Yelp Elite event here. While my friend picked up a complementary sandwich combo, I ordered the Chicken Breast Stew from the restaurant's Punta Cana menu for $16.30, with tax. The flavors of the chicken, stewed carrots and potatoes were good; but the chicken was very dry, and the rice and beans felt like school cafeteria food. This dish might have been better had it included some stew. The $1.00 Mac and Cheese add-on was bland, and a very small portion. The spicy cilantro sauce was quite good. The server kindly inquired about our parking situation, noting that parking tickets are issued quickly in the area. There is on-street metered parking in front of the store, and as well as a metered parking lot around back. This is a small restaurant without customer-accessible restrooms.

The empanadas were huge these look homemade! The gentleman at the counter made some great sauce suggestions!

Service was nice. Food was hot and tasty. Skip the Cuban stuffed pretzels. It was just one pretzel stick cut lengthwise with some cheese sauce down the middle with minced pieces of pickle and ham sprinkled on top. Street parking, one hour free if you can grab one of those spots. Plenty of flavored draft beers and TV screens throughout. All the tables and chairs are high, so if you're short you may need to hop up.

A little tricky with the parking but there's an app where you can pay your numbered spot. The server helped us out which was a huge plus! The portions are huge here (hence the take out). My son loved the skillet Mac n cheese and the buffalo chicken egg rolls were so filling. For dinner I had the black bean burger and was quite pleased. It was topped with avocado, red onion, tomato, sauce and the patty was homemade and full of flavor. Special shout out to the truffle fries yum yum yum! My son enjoyed the steak sandwich for dinner no complaints!

They also have 5 other locations across Suffolk County & 1 in Queens. The restaurant is small with just enough dine in seating for about 12 customers. Service was excellent from the start of ordering our meals to an employee bringing out the food to our table. We asked the cashier for recommendations to try, and we were not disappointed. We got 2 of their combos, which comes with your choice of any cheesesteak, fries (or other side), and a free drink. We opted for their best seller cheesesteaks- the Chiddy's Signature and Citi Fielder. The Citi Fielder was your traditional cheese steak with just meat, onions and whiz. The Chiddy's Signature included onions, peppers & mushrooms with a mix of provolone and whiz. Both cheesesteaks were cooked to perfection with amazing flavor enough to compete with any original cheesesteaks from Philadelphia. You can satisfy your cheesesteak cravings without making the long trip to Philly by going to a Chiddy's location in NY. We also got a large homemade chili and mozzarella sticks to snack on for later. The chili was flavorful & cooked to perfection with a little spicy kick to keep your taste buds guessing. A good chili usually has more meat than beans, which should always be the standard & that's what they got here. One downside is not having crackers to go with the chili, but the flavor makes up for that. The mozzarella sticks were crispy & cheesy, but there was no dipping sauce to go along with them. Either way, highly recommend.
