I went to write a review and noticed I wrote one 10 years ago!!!! I must say the only thing that changed is maybe it got better ? Still the same family runs it. Such nice people . All working anytime you go in. We got some food catered for Mother's Day yesterday . Simple only a couple of us . It was amazing ! We have went to brunch or dinner or lunch other places spent a lot more and it wasn't good. The sandwich platter and salads were all so delicious !!! We actually went to have dessert with family came back and it was still amazing . My mom said sometimes chicken gets weird . This chicken and veggies and bread are so fresh . If you get a chance come in for a sandwich you won't be disappointed. They actually have the best eggplant sandwich. I'm so sad there is none left over lol! Their spinach dip is insane. They serve it with warm bread . I've made it from scratch and it's just not the same ! It's just abnormally good. This place is the best butcher and deli on Long Island ! No competition ! Personal service with a smile. My husband was craving some beef bone-in short ribs. These are hard to find at a regular supermarket. The first time I stopped in they were sold out. But the butcher said to call and he'll hold them on the side for me. They were bagged and ready for me on my next visit. Excellent quality of meat, so fresh and they cooked up marvelously. This place has high quality prime meat and they make great sandwiches. Recently for Valentine's Day I decided to buy some prime boneless ribeye steaks to cook up. At $45/lb, 2 of them came to $82. Normally I would never spend that much on meat but figured it was a special occasion and I also wanted to see the difference between prime and what you get at the grocery store. I reversed seared the steaks in a cast iron pan with butter, garlic, and thyme. They were steakhouse quality and the absolute best steaks I've ever made. Worth the price for a special occasion or if you're a baller. The sandwiches are awesome too. They're like $13 but big enough for two meals. When I go I just make something up and it's always good. I really like their chicken cutlets and their eggplant. Definitely a step up from a standard deli. There's usually a line, which a sign that it's good. Whenever Babylon has a street fair, which is pretty often, the meat market cooks on a grill outside. They make awesome sausage and pepper sandwiches for a fair price. This is a review of their prepared foods and sandwiches, though their butcher side looks awesome. Before the first time I went here, I thought I knew good roast beef. Not boars head, but good homemade stuff. And I used to go on and on about this one sandwich I liked in NJ near where I grew up. My wife got tired of hearing this and said I had no clue and needed to try the roast beef sandwich here. I did, and she was right -- it was so much better. This place is so great I can't believe I didn't know about it sooner. I went in for the first time a few months ago for some chicken to make soup with. The owner actually explained to me the diff grades of chicken so I could pick out exactly which cutlets I wanted, then cut off every piece of fat as I asked him. Not only was this a huge help, but it turned out to be the best tasting chicken I ever had when I came home and cooked it. I also bought a pound of their homemade turkey, sliced up for sandwiches, but ended up eating half of it right out of the packaging he put it in. Tastes just like Thanksgiving Day turkey and so fresh! I could never stand slimy cold cuts so this meat here is complete opposite! Since that day, I've been in here numerous times and quality is always the same. Incredible. They have tons of fresh, hot food coming out all the time and I see they do catering every day. I've now learned that this place is not just family owned, but actually operated by the father, mother, 2 sons and others there. I have always seen this meat market when I am in babylon- for years. In fact I was out in Babylon on the right day a few springs ago and it was warm and blooming outside and they were grilling some pretty delicious burgers out on the sidewalk- that was super fun. Free burger? Im in! I decided to go in yesterday after breakfast at Glens dinette and ask for an obscure item my husband is dying to have me make - fresh rabbit. The butcher was very sweet and told me he did not have it on hand but would be happy to order it for me and would have it in a day or two and it would run approx $11.00. Duly noted- I will be back for this (its a 25 minute drive but its the only place I have found who will accommodate my request for a fresh rabbit.) I also noted they had a nice variety of not only meats, but hot prepared foods and some nice breads- oh yes, and produce in baskets. Big giant produce. I have never seen carrots the width and length of my forearm- They must get it from a giant farm with giant farmers. Huge carrots picture does little justice. Everything fresh. This place had been here forever and Its my first time going in- kind of makes me wish I live a block away because Id be here all the time. Go check it out- there is something to be said for the small mom and pop butcher, over the supermarket for sure...Do we know where they get our meats? The butcher will. AWESOME SANDWHICHES! We order from this place on a daily basis at my office and we are very impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the sandwhiches here. They do primarlily operate as a meat market and carneceria but wow are their sandwhiches top of the line! My favorties are of course the JERRY LEWIS which is your standard pastrami and melted swiss with spicy deli mustard and on thick hearty Rye bread. I have to give it a 10/10 even though sometimes the pastrami is a little fatty. Some days a touch fatty some days perfectly lean, this is to be expected with a quality pastrami. Second favortie has to be the crab cake wrap. Three or four large crab cakes, tomato and lettuce mix in a nice roasted pepper wrap. The perfect amount of roumelade sauce and high quality crab with little filler makes thes an easy 9/10! If you are in the area they deliver too! read more

When I say this is the best deli of all time, know that it's not conjecture. I make it a point to try any and all delis in and around anywhere I frequent. They are all varying degrees of ok, for the fundamental deli things; sandwiches of various sorts from breakfast to lunch. Not the babylon meat market.. When you come here, you get fresh meats, prepared, seasoned, and cooked in house. Ham? A huge hunk of fresh roasted honey ham sliced to your liking. Pulled pork, fresh turkey, London broil, roast beef.. Not cold cuts, home cooked. You can be normal, and boring, and get a traditional deli roll; they've got them - but they also have a large selection of baked fresh (sourced) artisan breads (and cheeses to match) not in the mood for a sandwich? They have at least a dozen different dishes prepared daily, sausage and peppers, chicken marsala, roasted vegetables, carrots and onions, meatloaf, beef stew.. It goes on and on. Hand made dips, sauces.. Even their own line of beef jerky, I'm not making this up, it's what every deli should be. It doubles as an actual butcher shop, and sort of farmers market for the biggest freshest veggies you've ever seen and a litany of unique sauces, spices, and ancillary food items. Oh, and they cater. It's family owned and operated, and I've never been there a day there wasn't multiple generations greeting customers by name. It's not only a fantastic place to eat, but it's got a very local feel. That being said, it's old school inside, and easy to overlook. Parking is difficult, use the back parking lot (behind Mary Carolls and Barrique) and find the hidden entrance tucked behind the smoker and meat racks, mildly difficult the first go around, but makes the subsequent trips you're sure to make much easier. All of this mouth watering goodness doesn't come cheap, but if you're on Yelp you're at least moderately discerning, and this place won't dissapoint, a true gem. read more

Outstanding sandwich trays, interesting mixes of flavors like a coconut crusted chicken wrap with what tasted like jelly or cranberry sauce, tuna was delicious even the basics like turkey and cheese were made to perfection. Beautifully arranged on a large white platter. Best of the best is their London broil platter for a party with their specialty horseradish dipping sauce which comes in a green pepper on a platter surrounded by thin slices of beef joined by paper thincucumbers. We order this every year for a Christmas Eve party and it's always a hit. So impressive to show up to a party with one of their platters but the real lucky ones are the ones that can feast on the platter leftovers the following day- if there's any left. Stopped into the Babylon Meat Market this morning to pick up a gift card for a Christmas present and while waiting just started checking out the displays my hunger kicked in. While I was being served I jokingly asked Lenny and David if the french fries I had seen on FB were as good as they looked and was told better. Next thing I know I was ordering a cheeseburger and french fries. 15 minutes later I was devouring both life someone who hadn't eaten in a week. I have always loved the meats and catering from the meat market but for some reason iI have not tried them for lunch, after my burger and watching other sandwiches being made this has become my top spot for lunch. This placed is so overpriced it's insane. It's always busy so you would think it would be a well oiled machine when it comes to sandwiches. Well it's not. It's a mess. When you walk in there is a counter in the middle and a counter in the end. When you stand at the middle counter a lot of the girls are working on catering orders and usually take about 10 minutes to acknowledge you. And when then do do acknowledge you they are pretty pissed off about it. Once you get your order in, expect to wait 20-25 min for your sandwich. You can seriously get quicker service at a sit down restaurant. And if you call your order in to avoid the wait, guess what? It won't be ready when you get there. No matter what time you leave The guys at the end counter just sit and talk to people. I'm still not sure what they really do. I guess they get meat orders but they refuse to help or acknowledge the people who want lunch. You pretty much get the vibe, that if your not a regular, you suck. Yeah the food is good. Been going here my entire life for meat and more. Much better quality than the grocery store, you can taste the difference. They also have great dips and spreads for entertaining. Just had my son's graduation party catered here. The food was absolutely amazing. Thanks to the help of the owner we put together a nice menu.
