Very mixed experience. While picking out two sofas, we had great customer service. Then the sofas…read morearrived and we found them to be much firmer than anticipated. I phoned the store to ask a couple of questions and as soon as I mentioned the firmness, the berating from the owner began. We were experiencing 'furniture shock', we got exactly what we ordered, he had spend HOURS explaining everything to us, what did I want him to do about this anyway, this is what good quality furniture feels like, we'll thank him in 3 years, did he mention he spent HOURS explaining everything to us, and then a hopefully facetious suggestion to jump on our sofas to soften them up. I never really got to ask my questions and just ended up hanging up. Very disappointing as the store carries nice things and we would have become good customers.

Actually wasn't handmade - it was factory made and machine edged. In fairness the purchase price was refunded. But was an uncomfortable experience and told David it made me not want to return to his store. 2. Glutton for punishment! Went to PM again because they had the style we were looking for. Purchased a leather couch made by Moroni for roughly $5000 supposedly on sale from more than $7000. After about 14 months the finish started to flake off. Was told by PM that wear and tear wasn't covered and anyway that the warranty was only for 1 year. About 4 months later was going through old warranties and getting rid of expired ones when I came across the original tag brochure on the couch in which it stated that the leather was guaranteed for 5 years against peeling or flaking. Contacted Parc Modern again and after an email and 3 phone calls was told that the claim had been rejected because it was a sale item. Phoned Moroni - who have terrible customer service - they don't want to talk to an owner - and it seemed like PM had not even contacted them the second time but just made up a story to make the problem go away. But then they said the couch was no longer made anymore so any warranty was null and void!!! They said they would contact PM and that they would contact me. Still waiting. Lesson is: 1. don't buy any Moroni Product 2. don't expect more than lip service from Parc Modern once you have purchased the product.

For any Vancouverites out there, you will understand this reference: this store is very similar to…read morethe "Circle Craft" store in Granville Island, and a bit like the "Make It" store there, too. This is a higher-end boutique that showcases the handmade works of local artisans: jewelry, paper goods (greeting cards, stationery), lotions and potions, candles, soaps, gourmet foods, some textile goods (knitted works, scarves, etc.), prints, household gift ideas (ceramic trays, small pottery pieces), and more, much much more. I always loved shopping local and supporting local artisans, so stores like this really speak to me. I really liked how there were posted informational cards throughout the store, talking about all the artists who created the pieces. When you shop here, you know you aren't getting a mass-produced item. It feels more "personal" when you get something made by hand by an artist you know something about. As is usually the case, one pays a premium for hand-made artistic pieces. The prices here are high, as they always are for artisan works. But I think it's worth it.

Love this store! So many cute things from local makers that I had a difficult time choosing what to…read morebuy. There was everything from art, ceramics, jewelry, etc, etc, etc. You will pay a little more but you're supporting small businesses!! The gal at the counter was super nice and made me feel welcome. Will be stopping by again later today as I love this store that much!
