Very disappointed in this company. After reading all the reviews, I was sure they would provide great quality and service. However, that wasn't the case for me. I ordered 4 shirts for my husband last August, and 2 of them were made from their most expensive fabric. After just 3 months, one of the shirts developed a huge tear--not even at the seam, but right in the middle! I only professionally dry clean all the shirts, so it's highly unlikely this happened due to poor cleaning techniques. The shirts from other brands are holding for years. Excellent customer service and optionality. I'd recommend bringing in an example cloth/garment of something that fits well so that they can help measure you perfectly. Just a small note that they tend to take their lunch break around noon so you'll want to plan your appointment around that. Not a big deal but sometimes they'll have to pause their fitting so that they can coordinate/let in their food delivery. My shirt (aloha blue linen) fit beautifully and was a great design choice for a festival/concert. read more

Tried their online service. Had a couple shirts made. Couldn't get the fit quite right. A year later was passing through NY. Decided to stop by and let them measurement me to see if it improved the final results. Their place was a bit hard to find. Not on street level. When I did arrive they wouldn't take my measurements. I was the only customer in the place. About 30 minutes before closing. Said to come back tomorrow. I explained I was from out of town and might not be back in NY for years. I've been ordering suits, shirts and now slacks from Proper Cloth for years. Other than made-to-measure at places like Saks and Brunello Cucinelli, I haven't found a place that offers measurements to the tenth of an inch. It allows you to create the perfect fit. You want the left-hand cuff slightly larger to accommodate your watch ... done! To me it's a value play ... I used to have shirts made at Saks for $400 - $500 per shirt; I can have the same quality from Proper Cloth for $125 - $250. I now own perfectly fitted suits, tuxes, slacks and shirts for far less money than off the rack clothing from the name brands that I spend money on ... I'm 6'4" and skinny with a pretty regular torso, long arms, and long legs. Pants in my size (30x36) are hard to come by, and finding long sleeve shirts in S Tall is near impossible (and still won't fit as well as Proper Cloth). First was surprised that there is no off the rack inventory. Everything must be ordered and has a 3-4 week lead time. But that's the only bad part... Few wow things stood out: * personal tailoring experience was incredible; Charlie was nimble, sharp, detailed with every small and big tailoring recommendation he made while measuring me; very helpful and accessible discussion and opposite of a stiff or snobbish experience * general house aesthetic is great and timeliness which shows through in starting styles, cuts, choice of fabrics and items * pricing/ value for money seems right in line with or better than what I would encounter at traditional Brooks Brothers, or more analogous peers like Suit Supply * finally the tech is great. Exceptional service with great products. They don't seem to have as many selections as they do online but you can order shirts and suits from them and they can make any altercations afterwards. Will say we almost gave up on trying to find the place though. There are no signs outside and you have to enter an unassuming doorway a security guard has to let you into, who doesn't move too quick so wasn't sure what we were going to get. read more
