Went to split rail On Saturday with a group of friends after seeing the photos posted on Facebook. These photos portray nothing but complete falsities! When walking into the Pro Shop it seems as though it will be a very nice course, that is where it ends! First of all the course charges $70!! There is no military or first responder discount nor any discount for the course being in absolute disrepair!! The front 9 is almost UNPLAYABLE due to how heavily the fairways have been torn up by tractors and most are impassible due to the mud mounds and dirt piles. The fact that this course is still charging $70 is beyond me! I am so glad that we did not spend an additional dime in the pro shop as we were absolutely taken to the cleaners on the green fees! I will say again DO NOT GO PLAY THIS COURSE!! THE GREEN FEES SHOULD BE $35 TOPS FOR THE CONDITION IT IS IN! **Edited to add the singular photo I took of this horrendous experience. Also to add the Golf course only seems to reply to those that leave a 5 star review of the facilites such as pro shop. They seem to be just fine to take your $70 and move on. read more

Great layout, but unfortunately, not in great (or even good) condition currently for $70 Green covered in circular 'crows feet' and fairway grass real thin or hardpan. Would love to play again, under better conditions. read more

Split Rail had the potential years ago to be a great golf course but something happened with money, management, ownership or all of the above. Half of the fairways are hardpan dirt, the greens as so hard and fast resulting in putts that are simply unfair. The staff has historically been what you would consider, unfriendly to downright nasty. All this is subject to change if an owner has the resources and desire to turn it around. read more

By far the worst that I've ever played. The course is under major repair on every hole and no warning about the playability of it when I booked it at $70 a round. Under its current management, it won't be long before this course will close down. You cannot treat people like that and expect them to come back. talked to the owner of the course and he was a complete jerk. read more

At one time was a great course that had the ability to host US OPEN qualifiers. Now it's the worst course I've ever played. Second cut is 8 inches high. Greens are slow af and not true. Fairways are total garbage. Only the par threes seem to be decent. Save your money and time. Go play Cross Timbers, Sugar tree, Canyon West, Oeste, White stone and Squaw Valley. Even the Benbrook par three course is a better course. Sadly this course is less than a mile from my house and is the most convenient. But I will play elsewhere. Played there 20 years and am ready to find somewhere else to play. after four years of shit coming out of the great freeze, it's now a disaster because they forgot how to mow. too many balls lost one and two yards off fairway. I was surprised to see the course had devolved into a goat ranch. Most fairways had numerous rock and dirt patches or high grass where water leaks occurred. Greens had weeds growing in them. Hole 18 looked like a a practice range for our Air Force. This course needs a lot of work. read more

This is an up-and-coming golf facility located in Parker county Texas west of Fort Worth. The staff is super friendly the beer is cold and the layout is spectacular . Turf issues are improving and I think you and your friends would enjoy this facility . read more

Course is in terrible condition. Every fairways is patchy and greens are taken over by Poa Annua weeds. I was also shocked at the price of $65 for a green fee considering the condition of the course. I was not told of the no more senior rates on fridays when I made the t-time. They should also let patrons know the condition of the greens and patchy fairways and let them decide to either play or maybe play for a lesser rate. Nevertheless, it will be a long time before we return, I'm sure for that that price i can find a much better conditioned course in the DFW area. read more

By far the worst course in DFW. Looks like they spent every penny on the clubhouse and didn't spend any on the course. Greens were like putting on a gravel road(way too bumpy), there was not on hood patch of fairway or tee box or rough. Weeds everywhere. Please don't waste your time here. Im never going back. I'm going to preface this review by saying that I'm sure the rough conditions were likely due to the harsh cold weather we had recently. With that said, the fairways were so-so but the greens were pretty shot. Some of them felt like you were putting on glass. I was disappointed to pay $60 for early afternoon with conditions as they were, but it is what it is. The layout is truly unique. Each hole gives you a different challenge. The bunker placements are a test, especially around the greens. The greens have a lot of undulation, and some are tiered. The location isn't too far from Fort Worth and worth the drive. There are reviews that mention the ornery customer service. I have to sadly concur as we felt a little put off at check-in. Also, they need to update their pricing on the webpage which has rates from 2018. They have twilight starting at 130 on the page so I was disappointed that it is truly 230, which would be fine but it is not as advertised. read more

Course is always fantastic. A bit pricey for my taste but conditions are always great and far better than most in a 50 mile radius. My only complaint, the pro-shop guy (check in) is a total jack wad both on the phone and in person. Absolutely the wrong individual in a customer service position. Great course, very challenging and always in great shape. Nice practice facility and clean carts. I love playing here. Grumpy old men in the pro shop have been a little less grumpy as of late, they're still hoping the club will gain enough membership to go private and close its doors to the public I think. read more

Great course, great club house, wonderful practice areas, except: 1. Greens are not in good shape at this moment (May 25) 2. Even though "Slow play is not tolerated", make sure you are ahead of woman's groups or it will be painfully slow. read more

The course was in good shape, and the greens were really nice. The new clubhouse is a big upgrade. However, they need new staff. They were rude and disrespectful to us on the course. It has so much potential, but when people who are in customer service treat you like it's an inconvenience that you're there, it ruins it. I'll go back, but only if I'm forced to. read more

The staff is rude...not the girls but the old guys running the place. Hey, how about a never ending guy on a golf cart with a leaf blower following you around not blowing leaves. The course is nice but the slow play and crappy attitudes of the staff make it a never come back. read more

Decent priced ($35) public course in good shape that has ample room off the tees and pretty fast greens. Routing was made to take full advantage of the wind making it play much tougher. Pace of play for a foursome was around 4 hours. Only complaint was the hideous Hershey kiss mounds on five or six of the holes. Otherwise, I would play again. read more

Split Rail: Not bad, played it for the first time with a friend of mine who lives out there. Not that easy to find I was coming from Hurst TX, and we have quite a few courses in my area so going to this course seemed like a long way to go even when I got off of the highway. When I got there my friend was on the golf range so I asked the guy behind the counter what I could expect (Mike). He was pretty funny and extremely helpful he gave me a quite a few hints about the course. The club house looked good it has that Irish or Scottish look to it inside and out , We didn't get anything to eat so I wouldn't know what food was like. Now the course, great layout well maintained greens and fairways. We played from the Blue's (6600 yards) next time I'll play from the White's (we had a little bit of wind) This course is very respectable and what I needed to challenge my game. I want to thank Mike for his humor and descriptions of the course and what to expect. I'll be back. read more
