I'm so glad I ignored the low star rating and gave this place a try. While their menu is limited and chips and salsa are not complimentary their tacos are truly amazing. We enjoyed corn which was crispy and flavorful. The barilla tacos were the best and came with a dipping sauce that was exquisite. The spicy Paloma's were also so good!!! The inside/outside seating area is a nice option when the weather is nice. We sat just inside the patio area by the bar. TV's were happily on various different things. YUM! Oro Y Plata was exactly what I wanted after a long day of travel. I very much appreciated the simple, straightforward menu that made it very easy for my exhausted mind to study. All the selections sounded delish, and I wanted it all. So, I ordered the Taco Trio (carne molida, pulled chicken and pork guisada tacos served with rice and beans, $21.00). This way, I get a little bit of everything. I'll start with the best - the pulled chicken taco. Perfectly seasoned shredded chicken with fresh toppings cradled in a crispy, birria-style taco shell, I savored every bite. Not only was the chicken incredibly flavorful and juicy, but the crunchy shell made it even better. The other two tacos were also very well seasoned, bursting with flavor and equally as delish. I found them very similar in taste, just different meats. I was also a big fan of the soft, warm beans and spicy Mexican rice, the latter adding quite the kick which I enjoyed when I added on my burritos. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and very patient with me as I made my selection. The prices are a lil steep, but that's to expect in a small, destination town. Don't go here if you're not willing to spend minimum $25.00 per person. There is great outdoor seating right off of Bridge Street to enjoy the beautiful weather and quaint downtown life. The service was excellent. The menu was limited to mostly tacos. The food was good, although I wish I had been warned about the guacamole they put on the chicken tacos. I'm not a fan of avocado,and fortunately, my other two tacos had a small slice of avocado that could easily be removed. Greeting customers by saying we are too busy with a rude tone, snarky like we were an inconvenience, is not what we expected from our "Ex favorite" spot. Brought our elderly parents in to dinner on Monday at 6 and was greeted by three of the rudest hostesses I have ever come across. Completely shocked at the unprofessional staff. Multiple open tables & a handful just left dirty, instead of cleaning them for waiting customers. We were ignored & treated like we were in the way. Left standing at the hostess station while three girls left several tables filthy & unwilling to bus them for hungry waiting customers. They all three had time to socialize & chat amongst themselves. But no time to clean the tables or seat guests? After finally speaking to us, she said I can suggest some other places for you to go eat at? I was shocked at the lack of efforts, they were too busy to seat us or provide us with drinks, chips & salsa? We were confused as to why we could sit & simply wait for service in the 4-5 open tables available since there appeared to be staff on hand standing around? Honestly I was shocked Danny would allow his employees to speak to his loyal customers this way. Completely disrespectful & super rude. Completely Ruined our family night & put a damper on what we had planned for our evening. Too busy to provide service too busy to be nice, too busy to feed guests. If you want to be treated poorly then left standing there hungry & thirsty, this is the place for you. To say this was disappointing would be an understatement. Sadly, more than likely will never go back... Changes to the staff are essential to remain open. Danny needs to re train his girls on kindness & hospitality. My family and I visited this restaurant while we had some folks from out of town with us. We love Bigfork and supporting local businesses. I was completely disgusted with our experience here. We arrived around lunchtime, but the place was completely empty. We weren't even sure if they were open until someone walked up and saw us standing there. We had read the negative reviews on this restaurant, but decided to give it a shot anyway.They have a large patio and as I said, there was not one person out there. We requested a table for four people. I also stated that we have a service dog with our party. Legally, I would be able to sit inside the restaurant, but I do my best to stay outside when that option is available to us. The hostess very rudely told us that no dogs are allowed on the patio. I told her that legally, she cannot deny service to us. I explained to her that she is a full medically-certified service dog, I have a neurological condition and that I have paperwork I could provide if she wanted to see it for proof. She said she did not want to see it. It was clear from her attitude that she did not care, nor was she educated on the laws. I asked her if she could please get a manager to address the situation and she just looked at me and walked away without saying a word. I didn't know if she was walking away because she was done "helping" us or if she was walking away to get a manager. At this point, I walked away with my dog because the situation was getting confrontational, and my dog was alerting me. My family stayed at the hostess stand, not sure what to do in this uncomfortable situation and that is when another person walked out from the inside the restaurant. I'm not sure if she was a manager or not, but she looked around, said where is the dog, shrugged her shoulders, and walked away. It was extremely clear that they either are not educated on the laws or simply do not care. It makes me very sad for anyone with a disability to visit an establishment like this and be treated the way that we were. My dog was wearing the appropriate harness, and as I said, I offered to provide legal paperwork, which is absolutely not required of me to do so. We proceeded to walk across the street to Pocketstone Café where we were treated very well. There was another dog on their shaded patio and they brought our pup a bowl of water as soon as we sat down. We love, big Fork and we will definitely be back, but I will never step foot in Oro again. She was terrific and shared local knowledge, fun stories and truly made us feel like we were "locals". Ground beef & crock pot style shredded chicken is not what I think of when I think of tacos. What they do is akin to Taco Bell style.... cheap, fast & little effort put it to it. The pork wasn't as bad but it still is in that "drive through" category. Drinks were ok. Nothing special. I don't think they have any consistency though. Feels like they need some training in that department. People were friendly & welcoming. Service was fast (off season). Place has a decent vibe. If was already hanging in downtown Bigfork, walking around or something, I *might* stop in for a drink if friends wanted to but not a place I'd grab a drink in my own & I won't ever order their food again. We (my husband, my 3 boys, and I) arrived and put our name on a 90 minute waitlist. We came back after 1 hour and were seated. We ordered our drinks & food. An hour later, after seeing other people sit after us and being served their food, we asked for an update on our food. We were told that ours was coming out next. The next food that came out went to the table next to us that sat 30 min after us. It was well over an hour and we still did not receive our food. Our waitress did not stop by to see how we were doing. I found our waitress and said that we wanted to leave now. The chef was nearby and asked if we would take the food he had in his hand. We said no. He then said that nothing that happened was personal. He blamed the mistakes and struggles on his high school workers. He was the head chef. He should run the kitchen better and not blame issues on his staff, especially in front of them and the customer. Absolute horrible experience. He did offer to pay for our 2 drinks though. Steak- had a hint of heat, but could be better seasoned. Pork- also tender but lackluster. Drinks- average beer selection, Lemon drop- attractive presentation in a coup glass, but could be much better. Obviously just vodka & sweet & sour mix. You obviously have lemons since a twist was on the rim, use the juice, add water, simple syrup, vodka & voila a lemon drop! I'd call this a limited bar with nice ambiance at the bar & outdoor patio. We have frequented this place often and enjoy the tacos for what they are. Yesterday, June 21, 2025, we were shopping g in Big Fork and decided to grab some tacos and drinks ( four of us) at Oro y Plato. My wife is a veteran and has a service dog. A Cream Retriever, and she was told by the guy tending bar that their policy is no pets. Explaining that this is not a pet but a service animal, wearing service badges on her halter and that refusing was a violation of ADA law, the bar tender admitted the policy was illegal but refused to seat us. When we asked for the manager/owner contact info, he gave us a fictitious number as the person answering had nothing to do with the place. I made this call in front of the bar tender and he was very glib about it, saying that was the only number he had. Not looking for them to change anything or acknowledge this post as none of the other reviews have any replies from the business. A shame as we did enjoy this as a meeting place. We did go to another restaurant, Puente Viejo Cantina, and had excellent service and drinks. The staff and owner were awesome. I ate at this restaurant last week with my family while visiting Bigfork. The location of this establishment was excellent and the overall atmosphere was lively and fun. The menu was extremely small; it only had chicken, pork, and steak tacos. I tried both the pork and chicken tacos, and found both to be extremely, extremely bland. Someone else at my table had tried the steak tacos as well and agreed that they were flavorless. I was baffled by how flavorless the food was and thought that I surely had caught COVID and it had reduced my ability to taste. So, I received a COVID test to see if that was behind my lack of ability to taste, but the test came back negative and it turned out that the tacos at this restaurant were really that flavorless. Would not recommend eating at this restaurant. Tacos from any fast food restaurant would have much more flavor and be much more worth the price. read more
