Splitz has a great concept, but my experience was undermined by poor customer service and a lack of accountability. Staff interactions felt dismissive, and when concerns were raised, they were not handled with professionalism or care. Most disappointing was the absence of meaningful engagement or resolution from management. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds matters. In this case, communication, attitude, and follow-through all fell short. I hope leadership reviews this feedback and takes steps to improve staff training and customer engagement, as these changes could significantly improve the guest experience. Below is the formal complaint that was emailed and submitted, however, there has been no response: Good morning, I am submitting a formal complaint regarding a private event held at Splitz Bowling - Gainesville, FL on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The reservation was under the name Josie Jackson, and we paid $435.38 for a private section with four lanes for two hours. Lanes 27 and 28 experienced continuous technical issues throughout the reservation period. While I understand that having more than six participants per lane can sometimes contribute to delays, lanes 27 and 28 did not exceed six players during the first hour and were the first to malfunction, confirming the issues were not related to lane capacity or guest usage. During the final hour of play, lanes 29 and 30 also began experiencing issues, further reducing usable play time across all four lanes. Additionally, our dedicated server was present for less than an hour and did not return, and multiple staff members were disengaged despite a busy venue. Management arrived 30-45 minutes later and offered minimal remediation (initially 15 minutes, then 30 minutes across all lanes), which did not resolve the technical issues. No meaningful follow-up occurred despite assurances. On-site security staff were inattentive. I came here for a fun Friday night of bowling with my friends. We booked ahead online since we weren't sure how busy it was going to be. Overall the bowling and the game was fun. We were mostly not impressed that the lane kept having technical malfunctions then when we went to renew for another our lane stopped working completely and they had us wait 10-15 minutes just to wait for another lane to open up in the boutique area. FYI,This review is going to be a long one that I have ever written. If there was an option for zero star, I would be so happy to give this place a giant one. We went here for arcade games and bowling. We did play some air hockey and it was fun. Later, we went over the counter to pay for the bowling lanes. We were left unattended even when there was a staff standing next to us for choosing the shoe size. They were very unhelpful and were talking amongst themselves when we needed assistance. Then, when we went over to the lane, the balls weren't coming up. So I went over the counter to ask for help and the lady just ignored us first and then said she fixed it. And when we got back, it was still not working. So we went again to the counter, and she just said something [not audible] and went back of the counter. So we asked another male staff who came all the way to the lane with us. He went back of the bowling alley and came back to the place where all the balls are kept. He had to open the floor to check the wirings and informed us that that lane needs to be fixed. At this point, my patience and my mood was totally ruined. I don't know why this place even exists. The customer service was the worst like I have never seen anything like this. I came here with my sister to chill and relax just before our summer classes start. But the staff here ruined it. Anyway, when we asked for a refund, her excuse was that they were under staffed even though clearly that wasn't the case. I would never recommend this place ever again. One girl employee was very rude to us. I am pregnant and asked for a 6lb ball and she threatened to kick our whole party out if anyone else used it. Which I understand but seems a little crazy over a bowling ball. I stepped out to use the bathroom and my Sis in law was using her 8lb ball that was pink. My ball was orange but she stopped our lane in the middle of the game. She sent a separate employee to explain that my Sis in law was using my ball and our game was over. My Sis In law was mid throw and showed him the pink 8lb ball. He said sorry for the misunderstanding and walked away. The other man and woman employee here are super nice but she tried to make our playing experience miserable. My whole party said we do not want to bowl here again after dealing with this employee. I asked the employee why they messed with us when the family beside had the mom using my 6lb ball. Her answer was they had talked to them several times and they did not listen. Then she showed us a broken ball and said they had someone break it. The point was we never violated their rule and was treated wrongly. They also never came over and talked to that family because we were sitting beside them. They threatened to kick us out also not just talk to us. Came with kids ranging from 4-17 to get out of the Florida heat. Place was nice, clean, and there was good customer service. Everyone was nice and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. The only drawback was that the lanes we were assigned to did not allow us to customize the use of bumpers for each individual. It was either all bumpers up or all bumpers down. After the down hill service from 2018 during football Sunday's, we stopped going to Splitz, with 2019 we decided to give it another try. On arrival Angel came to the table and took our orders, however after an hour she didn't return to the table. Our party of 7 all had to walk up to the bar Individually and ask for another drink. Sadly enough the specials they offered have been changed. I paid $8.95 for a Burger that has been a $5.00 special for the past few years, after 30 minutes the bartender comes and says it will be awhile for my Burger. When the Burger came it was dry and over cooked, I should have sent it back but honestly I was so hungry I didn't bother. In addition we have been asking Angel the bartender for 40 minutes to have the football game put on. At 4:40 we asked Angel again who was putting glasses away and she said she was to busy. We went to the front desk and spoke to the manager who's name is Nic he was one of 4 people working the front desk, we asked him if he could get someone to turn on the football games and he said no I'm to busy. We cashed out our check and went to Buffalo Wild wing So if your looking for a fun and friendly place to watch football. Splitz bar is not the place. Go to BWW. Took the family here for a fun night after the youngest graduated GHS. I was extremely disappointed at the facility and the service or lack there of! When we arrived, we were told that it was a 1 1/2 hour wait due to half of the lanes being out of service but if we wanted to pay for the more expensive lanes that we could do this with no wait! You would think that with half of the other lanes out that they would offer all lanes at the same price instead of having ppl walk out! We decided to just go to the arcade instead while we waited (where there were a few machines not working as well). Once our buzzer went off, I went up to the counter with the flashing buzzer and the girl said, you have to go to the back of the line! You just buzzed me!!!!! So still I went to the back and waited patiently while she told others that if they did not want to wait that they could spend more on the other lanes or just leave! Once I got to the front (again) I was told "Since we are putting you on the boutique lanes because of the wait, it's going to be more money" I said NO I have been waiting an Hour for the other lane, and her response was "well my manager said that we are losing business" YA THINK???? So if that is the case, make all the lanes the same price so that you retain the business until your business is working properly again! Finally they gave us our lane (12), when we had to manually keep score because the scoreboard kept glitching and not recording pins! While lane 13 next to us, those poor people had to reset every other roll! Again, I understand that things break, but that is especially when you should step up your service, to the manager/owner you are failing your employees and putting them in positions where the customer cannot be satisfied and you can see how that reflects in their attitudes. I haven't been to a bowling alley in a number of years. The last time was in Texas, and frankly that wasn't really a bowling alley... it was more of a bar with activities, one of which happened to be half a dozen poorly maintained lanes. So going to a bowling alley whose lanes have been maintained and updated to reflect the times was interesting, to say the least. I was there with a large group, and we had a couple of lanes rented out for a couple of hours instead of paying by game. The bowling was good, and everyone had a good time. However, bowling is not all that makes up a bowling alley these days. To keep an enterprise like this afloat, there has to be more to the place than just bowling, and Splitz has it. They have decent food (the sundaes are amazing for the price!) though their wings are sub-par. The price per wing is about industry standard, but the size of the wings left much to be desired. Don't bother going here for the wings... go with a burger or the Philly cheese steak instead... you will get your money's worth with those. They also have alcoholic beverages for sale. I didn't really look at them, but they are there, so enjoy! Finally, there is the game room. I have seen a lot of game rooms in my day, and while I get the whole ticket earning methodology that was spread around by the old midway games from Atlantic City and and other boardwalk arcades, I just never really got into it myself. That is what they have here, and not the video games and pinball machines that I so loved as a kid. Yes, you can get lots of tickets and trade them in for various prizes, but looking over the prizes there really wasn't anything there that I would ever want except perhaps the giant kazoos, and really I can go other places to get things like that. I get that it is the fun of playing games to earn the prizes, but it just doesn't fly for me. However, I know that others like it, and it seemed that the folks that were in there were enjoying themselves, so more power to them. All in all, Splitz is a place that you can go with a group of people and have a fun evening, be it enjoying some bowling, eating some bar food, or playing boardwalk games for prizes. Splitz is more than a bowling alley. It has an arcade and laser tag. The bowling section is pretty standard. It's clean, and there are plenty of bowling balls available in a wide variety of weights. The arcade is definitely meant for young kids. All the games are ticket games. There isn't anything like House of the Dead or Big Buck Hunter. Tickets are exchanged for small prizes. The you can play different games in the laser tag area. You can do teams, king of the hill and other games like that. I suggest a max of 8 people when playing laser tag here. The area is not that large and with any more people you will be constantly bumping into everyone. The food here is the quality you expect at a bowling alley. Save your time and money. The staff only care about one thing, that's receiving your money and then chatting amongst themselves. You spend more time trying to get shoes, drinks, food etc. They failed to communicate that the bar isn't open until 4pm, as well as failing to provide 6lb balls for the children(we had several young children). This place used to be so nice. The shoes they handed my daughter were torn and destroyed. It was absolutely embarrassing but the staff had no issues taking the $300 for the 3 poorly maintained lanes. After speaking with the manager she said she would get the kids smaller bowling balls, and just agreed communication sucked. I can guarantee the staff will not improve. Positives: Cafe menu was varied and really affordable. The facilities were nice and clean. The Saturday night special that includes bowling and $5 game cards per paying person ended up being a good deal. Cons: The lanes need work. They got bowling, a bar with some days of karaoke, billiards, and a mini arcade room! I think it's a great hangout spot. Lots of things to do and if you want you can host your birthday party here. The arcade room is a little tiny for what it is but you can still earn tickets like a Dave and Busters and redeem them if you'd like. On some nights, you can bowl the whole night for a discounted price! Just make sure you get there early so you don't end up being put on a waitlist. The customer service here is less than desirable.. Splitz is a pretty standard bowling alley. They have a large number of lanes, a wide selection of bowling balls to choose from. In addition to the bowling, Splitz also has an arcade (targeted at little kids, mostly ticket machines) and laser tag. The laser tag is fun, but don't bring a ton of people, because the room isn't that big. Splitz has surprisingly good food, especially considering it's a bowling alley. When I was there recently I ordered a Philly cheese steak and fries. The sandwich was good, but let me tell you I was SHOOOOK by how incredible their fries are! However they do not answer phones so I went early today to reserve the couch lanes. Then I arrive today with my party and they are down so they move us to normal lanes not really a problem. The curly haired "manager" that wears mask on chin was rude to a few members of my party to include my wife who is leaving for Air Force Basic Training monday. Pretty standard bowling ally. It seemed clean (apart from the bathrooms) and the staff was nice. We went on a Sunday night so it was not super crowded. On Sunday they have all you can bowl from 6-11PM for a flat $8 fee. The selection of ball sizes were quite slim. Because it was not too crowded I thought this was weird. So... I'm giving them 1 star because of the way they treated a customer... My friend is allergic to gluten, and dairy... As a part of a group of 44 people, she brought rice so she could still attend the event. After paying to bowl, she was asked to leave because she had "outside food". Instead of mgmt, asking her to move to "secluded" location, she was told that she couldn't be here with her food. ( there was no advertisement that prohibited outside food nor do they advertise a gluten free option.) If bowling is your main revenue, then help satisfy those who may have allergies to the food choices served in your establishment by allowing them to have outside food. Saturday night family bowling at this establishment was an upse!! Drove 45min to experience what was referred to me as great place for entertainment. Truth be told it was littered with trash from what looked like an all day food and drink fight on the actual lanes along with shoe rentals scattered everywhere!! I was mortified to find french fries had been stuck to the bottom of my bowling shoe the entire time while we bowled!! After countless request to clean our lanes and fix our lane light which kept conveniently shutting off we finally left! Not to mention lane rental is by the hour! If I could I would give it a 0 I came as a youth trip and we came in and when we got to the bowling alley it was broken then it broke twice after that and then I went to the arcade and got 4 dollars worth of tickets we wanted to do the typhoon and we acábeles the card and it would work it was 3 dollars then it said I had 1 dollar we went and told the dude and he was very rude about it and refused to give us a refund then we had a dollar left so we went and did the other bowling game there scanned it it did nothing so I spent $5 (1 dollar tax) and got nothing. Wow, what a night at Splitz! My husband's co-worker got his office together for a night of karaoke. We had a great table and there was a lot of room for all of us. That's awesome because at other places karaoke seems to be an afterthought where everybody is shoved into a small section. This makes it hard for large groups to get together and enjoy a night of "singing". The server we had was terrific. She was friendly and super nice. She seemed to be the only one on the floor. If so, she handled it totally with grace. As a bar area, I think Splitz is pretty awesome. As a bowling alley, also awesome - nothing like cosmic bowling under black light! And as far as bowling alleys go it was super clean and nice and new. Looks like a place where anybody - families, groups, etc. - could go and have a good time together. So why three stars? 1. Most of the music was country ballads. Of course, this is totally due to the patrons, not the DJ (DJ Debbie was fun and lively and has a great voice). But when we didn't sing country there seemed to be less audience participation. For me, karaoke is all about getting the crowds laughing, singing along, and dancing. Maybe if I had done a little Shania Karaoke things would have been okay. But my version of Pink's "Don't let me get me" and Rocky Horror Picture Show's "The Time Warp" seemed to fly over most of the patrons' heads. However, I was not alone. Our whole table felt we weren't in the right place. 2. There were kids in there - restaurant/bar/karaoke area. One little girl sang a few songs while her parents drank some beer. Another young girl was there with her family - although I don't know if they were drinking, we didn't stay too long after that. Karaoke at a bar in a bowling alley after 9 p.m. just isn't a place for kids. Especially when there are drunk guys around barely able to stand up and offering to buy anybody and everybody drinks. Also there was a lot of making out, heavy making out, in the same area. Booze and people and karaoke, how does this make one want to get it on? Do little kids, and I mean like 5th grade, really need to see all this? 3. The last reason I give Splitz a three is for the couple in the parking lot, a space up against the building, who were in their car and doing some intimate things. Well, she was doing intimate things to him. In plain sight of everybody (he looked quite bored really). I don't have kids, but Splitz would not be a place I would allow them to go after 9 p.m. I mean, really? A BJ in the parking lot? Kids in the bar area singing karaoke? I know that the little girl probably had no idea what she was singing (Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats"), but mom and dad and gramma sure did. But this isn't a review about them, this is a review about Splitz. To sum up: As far as karaoke goes, this is an okay place. If you like country ballads - go for it. You will love it! If you like more mainstream and nostalgia, go somewhere else. Like most karaoke joints it was loud but there was limited space to work the crowd. The crowd wasn't really into participating in anything but country. Or raunchy hip hop songs. Which seems like a weird combination. Be ready to see children singing and watching their parents drink and then get up as a family and leave (maybe gramma wasn't drinking, let's hope). Be ready for some real PDA, including some body-parts-hanging-out-for-the-world-to-see PDA. Maybe it's not the best situation to review a business... It was my mother's birthday... We had a group of about 10 people... And it was Super Bowl Sunday. We had reservations. We got there early in the afternoon. There was one other group of people bowling. They left shortly after we got there. We sat in the "lounge" area with couches and a sort of glow in the dark bowling area. They changed the music to fit the crowd, which was nice... I know the "old" people enjoyed being able to listen to some Golden Oldies... But they forgot to take into account Hearing Aids need to have music turned down so as not to drown out all other sounds. Forgivable, since they probably don't deal with the issue often. What was the unforgivable part? For about an hour, we were the ONLY people in the bowling alley. And more times than I can count on one hand, I had to go in search of our "waitress" to place an order. When there are no customers there is no excuse for bad service!! NONE! This review is for their quartermania on monday nights Probably not as cheap as alley gators, but it's much nicer. The cover charge is $10 and this includes shoe rental. After that games are 25 cents, as well as wings, hot dogs, and fries. They say beer is too, but its not really that worth it. Natty Light in very tiny cups = you better not charge me more than a quarter. The alley itself is very nice and almost brand new; they have TV's for sports watching and they turn the black light on for quartermaina. Music is VERY hit or miss; I went here once and it was all 80's rock which was awesome for me since I LOVE 80's rock. Then one night it was all over the place (techno, weird 90's songs, etc). Great facility! Unfortunately, lethargic/indifferent staff and some poor management decisions make it hard to recommend. They recently "upgrade" the arcade with a new system that requires you to buy a card for a dollar then load that card with money to use on the games. Their idea is that I would actually keep this little card in my wallet until the next time I'm there and just reload it. Except that, no. I don't come to Splitz often enough to keep this card with me all the time so that one random Sunday afternoon I stop by, I can play games with that card I bought. Functionally, they'll just be charging me a dollar "admission" to play video games any time I go, because I'll have to buy a new card from them and then load it. We came in on a Sunday night which turned out to be unlimited bowling for $8...a great deal! There was a little bit of a wait (I assume because of unlimited bowling) but no worries - we went to the bar to grab a drink... Ian was the bartender and he was phenomenal! He got us drinks quickly, made great recommendations for food (The wings are great. We did buffalo & Sweet Thai Chili-an awesome recommendation!) and when our lane came sooner than expected, he brought everything out to our lane for us. Front desk staff were great too - fast, efficient, and funny. The lanes are a little tight compared to the alley I'm used to in Colorado but it didn't interrupt our good time. (And it was probably only tight because the lane next to us had so many people on it.) The whole night was great, I really can't say enough about Ian though! I have to say that this bowling alley is set up quite smart,with lanes on both sides.as many bowlers experience, its the rambunctious family next lane to the leaguer who is concentrating on his game that irritates people. this alley layout eliminates that. great restaurant and even a separate game room. easy for bowlers of all types to get their needs. what kept me coming back is the proshop, specifically Tony Warren. had the pleasure of getting to know him on a personal level, and he has brilliance that is hard to find. the word has got out quickly so the demands upon him is great. best, if seeking a drilling from him to expect a lil longer turn around than other places, id say a week to two due to his demand. he truly has a passion for bowling and its best noticed when he isn't overly bombarded. be patient and you will be rewarded. read more

This was my third time at Splitz. The two other times were fine, I even had some fun. However within minutes of entering this time we had an issue. They have recently "upgraded" the arcade and although it sure is sparkly and loud alot of the new games are a complete rip off. When I talked to their manager she was quite rude and crass. I see by some Yelp reviews this facility has a history of bad management. This was my experience by the treatment I got from the female manager on duty this past friday night. It was my daughter's birthday and she wanted to go there. After purchasing tokens she played the "Grab and Win" claw game. With only four bears in the thing we figured it would be worth a shot. We tried 5 times @ $2 a pop. $10 dollars later, no bear and a teary-eyed bday girl. The claw actually picked up the bear 3 times but let it go early. It was almost as if it's rigged to do that. I decided to talk to the manager and to my surprise she completely brushed me off saying "Well that's just how arcade games work." "That's how it is." She didn't even attempt to rectify the situation at all. She kept repeating the same thing. It was so obvious that's all she could say. (Meanwhile my daughter has started to cry) I was shocked, she couldn't care less, when we asked for our unused money to be refunded she quickly blurted out "No refunds". I've been in the service industry 16 yrs, managing as well. I couldn't believe the level of arrogance from this woman. What should've been an awesome start to a birthday weekend turned into a mess. I was furious!!! .....Management is suppossed to care about your experience at their establishment.....All these people care about is taking your money and giving you Dollar store crap in exchange..... HOLY CRAP this place is mean to the wallet. The most expensive bowling ever. The way they charge is also weird. You have to rent shoes ($4.00), then each member of the party pays $4.00 PER GAME. $24.00 overall for me, my girlfriend, and my son to bowl ONE SINGLE GAME. Out of all the bowling alleys in Gainesville, Splitz is my favorite. Their are plenty of lanes here and the facility is fairly new and clean. The music here gets a little loud for my liking, but it's still a lot of fun. Usually they have good promotions running and you can bowl for pretty cheap. read more

We reserved a lane behind the bar at their "VIP" section to try and make the night a little more special. It was really great - there are only 4 lanes there, so it's really private. You have a big screen tv to watch some sports, and some music to complete the atmosphere. We ordered some bar food from the bar, and it was reasonable. We got a pitcher of beer which had absolutely no carbonation, so we asked for a replacement and the waitress was very very polite and gave us a second pitcher (after they fixed the problem). The private area has comfortable seating, and is a great place to hang out if you are not a serious bowling enthusiasts. Everyone that worked there was VERY polite (quite a change from the grungy bowling establishments up north). There isn't really a waitress that comes around to take orders, though - you have to go to the bar to do it. There's a nice little arcade there too, so when you're done drinking and bowling, you can head off for an intense air hockey match. All-in-all, great job Splitz! But please, fix the issue with your flat beer. read more
