I adored this place! Just a classic diner with good breakfast and lunch options! It's a bit small haha, but seated a decent amount of folks! There was no wait on a Friday around 11. Didn't know I was going to find my new favorite breakfast spot in a cute little unsuspecting building off the highway. The decor is so precious, farmhouse-esque with cute chickens and roosters everywhere. You can smell the quality of the food before you even get inside. There's front and back parking so plenty of space for everyone and a front and back entrance (back entrance has two steps in case of accessibility). We were greeted with a smile and told to sit wherever. Our server had the best breakfast recs and filled us in on all the menu favorites. She was so friendly and brought our food out so quickly. She kept my coffee hot and our water topped off. The stuffed French toast with sausage was 10/10, perfect balance of sweet and savory and the red potatoes had the best seasoning on them. My friend had the raspberry French toast with fresh strawberries and bananas on top. The French toast was crispy, light, and full of flavor with an added egg to make it a fritter style toast. Whatever raspberry drizzle they put on top is unreal, some of the best I've had and it nixed the need for syrup. The bacon was crispy and the blueberry wild rice sausage was an absolutely standout. I'd come back just for that blueberry sausage. It's local, fresh, juicy, and doesn't have the weird texture of ground meat. There were probably 20 blueberries in the sausage and the wild rice was a great texture addition. I can't recommend this place enough, absolutely will be back and it's worth every minute of the drive. read more

A very friendly place with lots of menu options. All of of the menu items sounded very tempting. The waitress was absolutely the best that I have ever had. I must have felt very hungry because I dove right in and forgot to photograph my plate. The only thing I can complain about is that I seem to have developed the ability to pick up on the taste of other foods in the oil that ends up being used to fry potatoes in. I'm not sure if that is because restaurants are being more frugal with their supplies or my taste buds have become more discriminating. Maybe I use less pepper Tabasco and ketchup now. The pie to go seemed a little pricey @ $25. My wife seemed to think they had a great reputation for their pies. I'm going to suggest you get your whole pies at Perkins both because they are a better value but also the taste much better. If you are going to try this place on a Sunday go early or be prepared to wait. read more

This is what we have been looking for! My husband and I have been looking for a diner that has that good ol' classic, off the highway look and this is it! We've been here about half a dozen times now. The service is spectacular! Wow! We were immediately charmed by our waitress: great smile, peppy attitude, and attentive service! The food -- delicious and priced just right! The coffee has that rustic diner taste to it that brings a nostalgic aroma. They have very reasonably priced breakfast and lunch plates. My husband loves the Build Your Own Breakfast (BYOB) and I absolutely enjoy the Stuffed French Toast. It's their French toast made into a sandwich with egg, cheese & sausage and served with hash browns. The sweet and savory combination is to die for! Peg's is an institution in the area I live so I had to try it out. It's packed on weekends so be prepared to wait but once you get seated prepare for some good eats. The caramel roll was warm and gooey. The coffee was flowing. Service was spectacular with many regulars who the staff knew by name. Excellent home cooked diner food! We mostly go here for brunch and order breakfast foods. I've had the daily specials too. Meat & potatoes with gravy. Good, hearty Midwest fare. Today we ordered slices of pie to go. Heavenly they were heavenly. Like all the amazing baking grandparents came down to make the best pies you've ever tasted! Made with all of the butter and lard and sugar in the county. State Fair blue ribbon deliciousness slices of pie. Now we need to go back and try their sandwiches and go through their menu. read more

I've been eyeing this place up for quite some time now and I'm glad I had the chance to finally check it out! I wanted to love this place, believe me I did! Walking in and feeling the hometown vibe and how cute the rooms are decorated. How you feel like you're eating at someone's home and the comfort that it brings. When the food came out I thought it tasted okay, but nothing that stood out to me. I had a farmers skillet that had some interesting and not too bad flavor combinations. I think that was my pick over the blueberry pancakes. I was thankful for the prices of the food. If you're over in the west metro, you need to try Peg's Countryside Cafe. We lived down the road and it had been my on my list for awhile, so we came in for Sunday brunch. The country style look of the cafe is so darling, and the chicken outside is an eye catcher. My boyfriend had been here when he was really young, but since it had been so long, it was a first experience for both of us. It was fairly busy as it was Memorial Day weekend. We were given menus right away, and I laid eyes on the benny's section (benny's are my favorite brunch food) and knew I had to get the Corned Beef Eggs Benedict ($9.90). My boyfriend got the Farmer's Skillet ($9.75) which comes with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, AND ham. All the breakfast proteins. It also has green pepper, tomato, onion, and cheddar cheese on top of roasted red potatoes. Can't forget the toast on the side. We also shared a warm cinnamon roll ($3.50). We loved everything we had. You NEED to get a cinnamon roll, it makes you want to happy dance upon first bite. It's soft and oh so delectable. I noticed the corned beef was canned corned beef, but I thought the saltiness of it worked really well on a benny. I wish the corned beef could have been on the pan a little longer, but past that, I really liked it. The poached egg was perfect. My boyfriend's skillet was great and the only small critique he had was that they didn't actually put that much meat in the dish despite saying it includes 4 breakfast proteins. He got more veggies, potatoes, and cheese than meat. Peg's Countryside has a parking lot and is right beside McDonald's, so don't get confused and accidentally turn into their parking lot; the two lots unfortunately don't connect. read more

While we visited for lunch, it's hard to say no to their breakfast menu! I regularly order over-medium eggs and receive over-easy or hard. Today my eggs were perfectly cooked. There was ample meat and potatoes as well. By far, the highlight of this visit was the pie. We ordered Coconut Cream pie and - WOW! The filling was the perfect consistency. Not pudding at all, but smooth and sweet. The cream was actually cream; kind of crazy, huh? There were enough coconut flakes to make my slice perfect. We had a brunch for 16 people at 11am. While they weren't able to hold seating/make reservations; they were able to make it a very short waiting time. Page and the serving crew were amazing! We had no waiting time on ordering and our server was professional and speedy. They kept the drinks coming and we had someone in our party with a lot of special food needs and they were wonderful! First place we've been to where my husband could eat an entire meal to his fill. The food was delicious! No one in the entire party had a single complaint! Wonderful blueberry rice sausages, eggs, pancakes, taco salad, hot tea, coffee, French toast, hashbrowns, English muffins, toast, and more! The decor is adorable! We're so lucky to have found this little cafe as we're from all around the US here for a wedding. It seems to be a local favorite as it was packed!
