Wait was super long, even for take out so we decided to do pickup. Ate it and immediately realized why. It's amazing. I got the cinnamon roll pancake. My wife got the Fried Stuffed French Toast. Hers was good. Mine was GREAT. The fried exterior of the French Toast gave it a funnel cake taste to it. Would have been even better with some powdered sugar! There's was probably more filling than I'd like but I'd rather it be overfilled than under. I've tried a lot of places cinnamon roll pancake interpretations and this might be the best one I've had. First of all, it actually looks like a cinnamon roll. It's a little crispy but soft and fluffy inside. The icing is just enough and the cinnamon sugar caramelized perfectly on top. Yum! We will definitely be back. Probably for take out again as they get booked up pretty quickly. read more

We enjoyed a great brunch at Spoons. The place felt busy, but not too hectic. Service and food hit the mark. Hubby and I were both in the mood for something savory. I ordered the 3B Burger and he tried the Southern Benedict. We loved the burger. They cooked it to a perfect medium. The cheese and egg worked well, and there was even a bit of spinach to make it feel healthy! The benedict also hit the spot. It came with a good amount of pulled pork that added a lot of flavor. The egg yolk on one was nice and runny but the other yolk was overcooked. The side of breakfast potatoes was fine but nothing special. We arrived around noon and waited 20 minutes for a table. Not bad for primetime. The place pretty much cleared out around 1:00, which will be good to know for the future. Parking can be difficult (like anywhere in Fed Hill). read more

I think this is my new favorite breakfast /brunch spot. If you love breakfast like me you have try the place. I've gone twice in the past two weeks and both times were awesome! It is definitely a cafe, small space like many of the federal hill establishments but they make good use. Beautiful artwork and a relaxed atmosphere. And then there's the food First time my friend and I split "the beast" and pancakes. The beast is savory and delicious, the only thing I'd change next time is cheddar instead of American only because I'm not a fan of American but even with American it was still delish! I also got the turmeric latte which I highly recommend...I was skeptical but it is so good. It's tastes like a sweet coffee based spiced latte but it doesn't have any espresso in it unless you want. This past weekend I tried the French toast with fresh fruit on top, open faced omelette and grits. All if it was fantastic! Service was excellent both time. First time we waited about 20 mins and second about 10 and both on Saturday. Next time you want a big, delicious, savory breakfast...don't hesitate! I wish I could go back today. read more

My apt mates had ordered take out from here several times but we had never actually eaten at the restaurant. Finally went last weekend and it was phenomenal. Staff was super friends, prompt with water and coffee, and made it easy for us to split the check. I got the chicken and waffle with a side of the grits. I grew up in the south and it's rare to find restaurant grits that are any good but these are the real deal (and no doubt full of cream, butter, and cheese)! The waffle was cooked well, and the chicken was fried perfectly. Only small complaint might be that the amount of powdered sugar on it made it a bit too sweet, but hot sauce fixed that right up. The rest of the table got the cinnamon roll pancakes, the southern Benedict, and the breakfast sandwich. All came out really well. There are a lot of great brunch spots in fed hill but this is one not to ignore! read more

Went here the other day and it wasn't the most inviting feeling we received upon arriving. It smelled of garbage outside of the restaurant and while waiting inside the area in the front also smelled pretty bad. The food didn't have any flavor and was very pricey considering. We won't be returning and I'd highly recommend others don't either. read more

Even on a rainy morning this place turns out a crowd. The bar is first come first serve so luckily my friend and I only had to wait about 20 mins to sit. I had been wanting to try this place for quite a while. I was very impressed. The service was pretty good for how busy they were. The food was amazing. We split the risotto Benedict and the beast. We also ordered the pineapple mimosas which were super refreshing. I can't wait to return to try some other things on the menu! read more

I really really enjoyed my brunch today! I was yelp searching and saw Spoons had good reviews AND it was walking distance from my favorite cupcake shop.... winner winner chicken dinner!. I went on a Sunday afternoon around 12ish and we had about a 20 minute wait (they estimated 30). Not bad! And they text you when your table is ready. So here's the breakdown... Location and Ambiance... A adorable spot with a young, hip crowd Small but comfortable eating area Bar area (I decided to have some of their delicious coffee while I waited) You can see into the kitchen in some areas. The bathroom is smack dab in the dining room, arms length from a 4 top table. Obviously I didn't sit there . Service... B- (with bias) There wasn't anything particularly wrong with my service....ehhhh... the waiter just looked disheveled and a bit ..... disheveled He wasn't NOT attentive.... just real average. The first time my eggs came out it was literally an egg patty with a slice of cheese on it, no heat tatTall! Cool, but I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. I hate sending things back because....YOU knoooowww... but I really did want some eggs. I returned it and it came back beautifully! (I had a perfect view of the open kitchen the entire time to ensure...YOU knooowww). So I appreciated the come back effort with the eggs. Food... graded individually... Chicken and waffles - solid and enthusiastic A! Tender, flavorful, juicy, crispy fried chicken breast? Thigh? Perfect thickness like a sliced breast, but tender fattiness of dark meat. Hmm... mystery! Waffles were also thin, crispy, buttery, folded nicely around the chicken like a choco-taco! If there was some type of spin on it... like a flavored syrup, bacon sprinkles...i don't know. That would have kicked out up a notch Biscuits... Bold B- If served fresher it would have probably been better. It was a bit overcooked or possibly sat under a heat lamp too long. Plain pancakes... Absolute A! Great size, diameter and thickness, buttery, right amount of fluffy, Aunt Jemima-esque Scrapple.... Scraping the plate, straight up A!! Crispy, non greasy, yumminess! It took me back to my mom's kitchen with Sunday morning scrapple. I didn't have the abdominal capacity to try the ... Visiting family in Federal Hill and picked Spoons for a leisurely breakfast based on reviews. Basically I was satisfied, although my experience perhaps wasn't quite as wonderful as some others' seemingly were. The food was as described in the menu and well prepared. The biscuit dishes are as good as advertised! The pancakes and scrambles we tried were substantial and served quickly. Not a lot of effort on presentation, but good. I also immediately noticed how good the coffee was! So often we drink it without even thinking about it. It's nice when it stands out. Service was friendly, but haphazard. The dining area is darkly lit and comfortable, and they don't jam the tables together too closely. Room started nearly empty, and by 10:00 AM was hopping. Food prices were high, but not outrageous. Note that they only accept cash here if there is no making change; something I've encountered at several Fed Hill establishments. They do offer convenient online CC payment via QR code. Overall I enjoyed our visit. read more

Wow, our coffee drinks are amazing!! We were lucky that there was just 2 of us and we could sit at the bar. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated for 2 and I am guessing a little longer for a bigger party. We both had the chicken biscuit and shred a side of potatoes. Both were excellent. read more

Cute brunch place tucked away in federal hill, with a very straightforward menu. I liked the comfortable slightly hipster atmosphere, though the tables can be a bit close together. Also, the tea came in paper-like bags; very interesting! Food: Farmers plate with scrapple and a pancake: my BF was quite full after this, so don't underestimate the portion sizes. Pear Brie panini: in the smaller side and with a predominately sweet taste, but pretty good. Solid place worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

Love this brunch spot in Fed Hill! Cute inside and attentive service, combined with great food and drinks. If you're feeling hungry, order The Beast, especially if you're a meat lover and want something hearty. All of their eggs benedicts are great, I usually get the fried chicken one but the Florentine is my favorite vegetarian option. Tip: get the potatoes as a side!! Their mimosas are also spot on!! read more

First and last time here. I ordered breakfast about 1030ish on January 17 for pick up. Wanted chicken and waffles, and chose to try Spoons over another nearby eatery. I was really disappointed, as there was absolutely no seasoning on the chicken, and the grease HAD to be old. Disgusting, and literally inedible. When I requested a refund, the ladies behind the bar seemed confused. Anyway, I was then advised that the owner was not there, and she would have to make the decision upon her arrival. Ok....? Finally, after reaching out via email, I was able to get a refund. No apology, no greeting in the email, just unprofessional. So, if you like good, seasoned, food and you value customer service - dont eat here. read more

I ordered the deep fried stuffed French toast with strawberries no blueberries and a side of potatoes. Pros: Jasmine is a new waiter. She was very nice and no matter how many things we asked for, she always smiled and made sure we received everything requested. Cons: Whelp, I had hair in my food. As soon as the person delivered it to the table, I seen it. I cut the French toast in half to make sure it wouldn't be given to anyone else and sent it back. The staff didn't ask any questions. They just made me a new one. You have to find parking on the street. Food: The potatoes were delicious. The French toast was good, but I probably would try something else if I return. read more

Loved my breakfast here! Came on a Friday morning and had no issues getting a table for 2. We split the cinnamon roll pancakes (to die for!! A must get) and then each ordered our separate entrees. I got the traditional Benedict and it was really good, but the hollendaise was a little more tangy than I was used to. My boyfriend got the southern Benedict which came piled high with pulled pork on huge fluffy biscuits. He got the grits as a side which tasted like they had sour cream in them, and I got the fruit as a side which was a little skimpy but the fruit tasted fresh. I also tried the salted caramel latte which was enjoyable but not my favorite latte I'd ever had- I didn't really taste the caramel. Definitely try the cinnamon roll pancakes if you stop in!! read more

My friend and I stopped in for brunch at Spoons before a Ravens game. The interior is really cute, simple and cozy. We got mimosas to start off, which were tasty and pretty standard. We ordered an omelet and the farmer's plate. The food was very basic, not too heavy, and overall, a solid meal. Maybe not one for the record books, but got the job done. It's a nice café for a casual weekend breakfast to spend with a small group of people (the space is tight!). Be prepared to wait during peak breakfast hours on the weekends or come early to avoid the crowds!! read more

How have I never been here? Hipster and divey feel all in one. It's VERY casual and low key. A little dark unless you are seated by a window. It's definitely not a place to dress up. Sweats and comfy shoes welcome. Mimosa's were good- pomegranate was a fun flavor we tried. I had the 3B burger and was very happy with it. Not the best burger I've ever had but I took the other half home and ate it all. The breakfast potatoes weren't anything special but they were yummy. My 2 other friends seemed to enjoy their meal as well. Would love to come back and try some other menu items. The cinnamon rolls pancakes were looking REAL tasty. Parking: street, you'll probably have to pay or be limited to 2 hours. read more

I went to Spoons on a recommendation from a local friend on my last day in Baltimore. What a find! I had the Hangtown Fry Scramble with the cinnamon honey oat latte and it was the best breakfast I've had on this trip. I came on a Wednesday early and it nice and quiet but I hear it does get crowded on the weekend. Friendly staff, fast service and I loved all the art on the walls. (I'm a designer and have been known to pick restaurants based on its design. I approve!) definitely make a stop here if you're in Fed Hill! read more

We wanted to stop in here for a quick breakfast as we drove through town. Although they say they open at 7 they don't start serving food till 8am... The girl was nice enough and we did order coffee to go. My husband's mocha was good. Since the waitress wasnt going to serve us breakfast, even though I saw the cooks back there, I asked if she knew if any other place to eat at this early morning, she said no. About 30 steps away, we landed at Blue Moon Too which was outstanding and I highly recommend. Spoons, maybe set better expectations that you don't serve food earlier than 8 or have a light staff to cook if needed. We wanted to try your food. read more

I've only been to Spoons Cafe for several brunches and it wasn't bad at all. They've got the common brunch items, but also some nifty and unique ones as well. I like the breaking fast burrito and the protein scramble. Both come with big portions and are quite filling. The protein scramble is also made of egg whites, a healthy choice. I also recommend the apple, walnut, and brie pancakes. They are quite tasty. Spoons also has quite a selection of coffees. They're a bit pricey, but convenient nonetheless. It's rather difficult to find parking, but at least there aren't huge waits for brunch like Blue Moon and Miss Shirley. read more

Spoons is an adorable place for a weekday or weekend breakfast. I love that they also roast their own coffee! I've been here on two occasions - once, a rare weekday morning , and the other a Sunday (early) brunch. Weekdays are not an issue when it comes to their no reservation policy- we sat at the bar and enjoyed a few delicious lattes without being rushed. Sunday, obviously, was a bit different. We waited about 20 minutes before bar seats opened up (it would have been another 10 for a table, and we prefer bar anyways). Still, in both experiences, a big thing I appreciated was that service was prompt but not rushed. Both times they made great lattes, but the second time I visited for breakfast, we actually ate. He got the cinnamon roll pancakes, and I got the biscuit and gravy with a few over easy eggs added on. And oh my god, y'all. Both were amazing! Delicious buttermilk biscuit, savory creamy gravy, and perfectly cooked eggs on mine, while his pancakes were so divinely decadent without being saccharine. Portions aren't huge, but rather appropriate for what you pay. I'd definitely come back when we have a weekday off- this teacher can't wait for spring break! read more

The food here is very good and so are the hot drinks. We go often as we live nearby. We always tip at least 20 percent and are friendly and courteous to our wait people. Recently, we had a waitress be so nasty that we actually have decided not to go back for a long time. A shame. They need to work on their welcoming in general. read more

The food wasn't bad, but the ambience and service was definitely lacking. For ambience, this place reminds me of the Marina in the Bay area -- too hipster for me. As for service, I was sitting at the bar for f-sakes, you should be topping my coffee automatically instead of having to wait for me to ask you for it. Will I be back. Not sure. read more

This place is the best! The only downfall is there's always a wait, because the inside is soo small! However if you put your name in your can walk around and they will text you when your table is ready, and it's definitely worth the wait. I've been here multiple times, and never been disappointed. The first time I got the burger, which was good and home fries, which were great! This last time I got the chicken biscuit, which at first was a little dry, but then I put on some syrupish sauce that it came with, and it was fantastic. The bacon was also cooked how I like it, flimsy, and not crispy. This place has a cozy home feel, and the staff is really nice, and help out with everyones tables. I will say though the last time that we went it wasn't busy because it was a week day, and I saw that our food was ready and under the lamps waiting for a server to bring it to us, and it took them 5 minutes to bring it out. Other than that we've always been happy when we go there, and the salted caramel latte is on point! read more

It's a large space, with walls covered with art. There's around 52 seats at tables of mostly 4 and 2, with one for around 12. There was a 2-seat-table set up outside, and a bunch more available down the side of the restaurant that could be set up. We chose a table for the two of us, and server immediately offered us hot coffee in big steaming mugs. The menu, available online and by QR code, is huge! We ordered Veggie Scramble: 3-eggs lusciously full of mushrooms onions green peppers and tomatoes. They let us choose feta cheese! And the hash browns were epic! A mountain of creamy shredded potatoes, well-done to a crispy crunchy surface! And we got their Huevos Rancheros: open-faced 2-egg tacos, flavorful medium-spicy Mexican chorizo sausage and salsa verde under melted cheddar-cheese, over warm soft corn tortillas, with a side of those amazing hashbrown shredded potatoes. We got the eggs scrambled. Both breakfast servings were ample and delicious. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. A few flaws: They have no espresso! Waah! We loved our generous breakfast and the whole friendly artsy atmosphere. Everyone, even the switched-table, seemed comfortable, with friendly chatter filling the high-ceilinged hall. It felt like her father was giving us his blessing from beyond the grave. The oysters were phenomenal. The crab cake was amazing. The local beer was perfect on a hot day. Then it came time to pay. We were horrified when the waitress came back with the gift card and told us it was expired. Expired? There is no expiration date printed on it which means it is legally valid indefinitely. She explained that they changed POS systems since the card had been purchased (again, by my fiancé's late father before he was taken by cancer) and that the new system did not recognize it. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." No offer to grab a manager to see if a portion of the meal could be comped. Just $100 spent by a dearly departed that Thames St Oyster House does not have to answer for. A very tender moment ruined by poor customer service. They've lost 3 repeat customers.

I went for the fried oyster grits, which were absolutely delicious. The oysters were crispy, and the grits had that perfect creamy consistency with a nice sauce. It was the standout dish of my meal for sure. I also tried the greasy spoon breakfast, which was hearty and filling--everything you'd expect from a classic diner-style plate. Parking was a breeze since it was a Friday morning, and there was plenty of street parking available. I tried Spoons Cafe for the first time yesterday, and was less than impressed. I ordered carryout at around noon, and my first call wasn't answered (not a big deal, maybe they were busy.) I called back and was greeted warmly by a very nice lady. (The stars are for her.) She was very helpful, polite and helped me figure out whatI should order. But that was the best of the experience. I ordered two 2-2-2's and a breakfast burrito. The breakfat burrito was okay, nothing to write home about. The potatoes that the burrito came with were underseasoned and slightly undercooked. The french toast that came with the 2-2-2 was pretty good, they could have added cinnamon or sugar or some type of seasoning to make it a little less dry and boring. The bacon and eggs were very bland, and average. I really wanted to like Spoons, because their menu looks great and it's such a cute and cozy spot. I'll definitely try it again, maybe in-house eating is a little better. But until then, I think i'll stick to Blue Moon for my breakfast needs. read more

I had a great experience at Spoons! I arrived around 10:30 am and didn't have to wait, though the restaurant was starting to get busy inside. I ordered the oysters and grits, which were absolutely delicious. The oysters were perfectly fried, and the grits had fantastic flavor. My husband chose The Beast, which was also very tasty--the gravy was amazing, and the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned. We shared the deep-fried sweet cream French toast, but it wasn't really our favorite. The filling was more tangy than sweet, which wasn't what we were expecting, so we likely wouldn't order it again. For drinks, we both had the spiked apple cider, and it was phenomenal! The balance of bourbon and apple cider was spot-on--not too sweet, not too strong. I highly recommend trying it if you visit. The service was excellent as well. Our waitress was attentive, and everything came out quickly. We'll definitely be back to Spoons to explore more of the menu! read more
