Spoons is a classic breakfast spot in South Baltimore and it never disappoints. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is like a typical coffee shop/cafe. The cinnamon roll pancakes are my absolute favorite thing on the menu and I have to get them every time I go now. I enjoyed washing it down with a warm spiced cider.

This place is a great spot for brunch/breakfast! Their biscuits are very delicious. The Rock Bison sandwich is great, I'd like it even more if the jalapeños were more prominent, but that's alright because there's hot sauce on the tables you can use. The hangtown fry was delicious however the sauce on top really overpowered everything else in the dish. Maybe less of it, or put it on the side could help? I'm only taking a star away from the experience because they serve water in plastic cups. I think that's just terrible. Reusable items save the planet, and it's an easy switch! Would really like to see them upgrade. I probably wouldn't return just because of the needless waste.

like everything in Baltimore, I felt like this was a very small and intimate atmosphere, but felt very homey and all the service was great. I went in for breakfast at the bar, had a mimosa and eggs Benedict and read. I will say because of the space they do have a 90 minute time for people when sitting in and dining but totally understandable.

We wanted brunch at a new spot, so we decided to check out Spoons, it had been on my list. Its a small space, so we had to be placed on a waitlist, which was not a problem. The restaurant had soft lighting, you hear conversations. We both ordred the 2-2-2, I got the french toast and he got the pancakes. The customer service was ok, it could have been better. Our waitress didn't introduce herself to us, which is something that I am used to at all the places I have been to. The food was also ok, nothing really stood out. We may go and try other items on the menu.

This is a very cute spot with a relaxed feel. My friends and I arrived around 12:30pm and stayed close to closing which was 2:00pm. The hostess was nice and so was our waiter. I ordered the greasy spoon with all bacon. The potatoes was seasoned very well and I got my eggs scrambled with cheese. My whole meal was very enjoyable. The bacon was crispy and of course I had to add my own salt and pepper to the eggs but I would definitely come here again. My friends also enjoyed their meal. They ordered the 2-2-2 with French toast. I believe one got the sweet cream French toast and she really liked it. They both enjoyed their meals as well. I would highly recommend spoons for a cute breakfast/brunch spot.

Our party of three dropped in for Sunday Brunch. This popular spot had a waiting list. It was a 40 minutes wait, not too bad. We ordered ham Benedict with potatoes, fried chicken & pimento cheese biscuit, Cinnamon roll pancakes, and everything biscuit with bacon, fried chicken, fried egg, and sausage gravy. Foods came out fast. Everything were cooked to perfection. Everything tasted delicious. But the stand out dish was the cinnamon roll pancake with maple coffee glaze. Tablet service was friendly and attentive. Prices were fair for such high quality foods. Parking on the street only. We will definitely return with our next trip to Baltimore.

Best Fried Oysters on Grits with mushroom bacon flavors. Yum!

Fantastic brunch. Came on Sunday to celebrate our 25 yr old. Apple Cider Mimosa in a carafe, yum for a Fall day. Pistachio white chocolate latte, so creamy and luscious. And OMG Fried Oysters on grits with a mushroom/bacon sauce something. They were fried to perfection and everything was so great. We sat upstairs where there was lots of space and admired the amazing art work on the walls. Our server was very helpful and help us with some recommendations. Will be back.

Spoons is cute, quaint, delicious and the staff are friendly and quick. It's got all the best breakfast staples like 2 eggs, 2 slices of whatever breakfast meat you want and 2 pancakes to omelettes and sandwiches and Benedicts. We got a few items to try and the bacon was crispy, and the pancakes are fluffy, and my veggie Benedict was very standard and very good. I liked how the fruit was cut up nice and small and came with a variety. The best item is the biscuit which came out warm and fluffy and tasted so yummy with the butter packets. My orange juice tasted freshly squeezed and overall it was an excellent breakfast!

Average food, bad service. Came on a Sunday morning for brunch. There was a 30 min wait, which is no problem. Once we arrived and were seated, it took a very long time for a waitress to greet us. Turns out that same waitress was bussing the table next to us while we sat... waiting for a water or a coffee. Seems the bussing of an empty table could've waited 2 minutes to serve the table that was present... Coffee is bottomless but the waitress never came around to refill it, I had to ask. I ordered a biscuit sandwich and my friend got a Benedict, which comes with a side. Somehow the waitress got confused and brought us an extra side, as a mistake, so she took it back but she then forgot to take off the bill... My biscuit was cold - see pic for unmelted cheese... I would've asked for a new one but again, the waitress never came back to ask how it was. Despite being cold, it was tasty. They were also out of chia pudding, fine but just icing on the cake for an already pretty bad experience. Overall, for the wait time, this just wasn't worth it. Seemingly untrained staff and cold food, not sure what I'd return for.

I haven't been to Spoons in a couple of years and I ventured out for brunch on this past Sunday. This time I did the Hangtown dish (fried oysters over soft cheese/bacon eggs with a side of grits) and Cinnamon Pancakes. I ordered the mushroom bacon gravy to pour over the eggs and grits. They cinnamon roll pancakes are always a hit! They really do know how to prepare frier oysters, lord they never miss! Good for a brunch date! The service was fast and attentive! I love the staff they were amazing. This was a whole vibe!

Spoons is a solid brunch spot in Fed Hill! It is located in Fed Hill next to Cross Street Market. We came here on Saturday morning. It seems the wait time can be long but we just sat at the bar since there was no wait. For drinks we got: Red Velvet Mocha - delicious, smooth and creamy but not too sweet Honey Cinnamon Oatmilk Latte - Also delicious with the right amount of spice For food we got the: Fried oyster and grits - yummy! Fried oyster had a great texture to it and wasn't too greasy Risotto Benedict - so good, poached eggs and prosciutto on top of two crispy fried risottos! I would get this again! Deep Fried sweet Cream French Toast - I would steer clear of this dish, unless you can handle greasy funnel cakes at carnivals. This dish was just fried up dough, butter and cream. Way too oily and sweet, I couldn't take more than one bite... Aside from the French Toast our brunch experience was great. The staff and bartenders were incredibly friendly and service was great! I would come back to try their Breakfast Sandwich or Burrito!

Stuffed french toast, home fries and mimosas
    Pamela M.

After a long 7-hour drive, we stopped by Spoons Café for breakfast, and the food did not disappoint! We had the stuffed French toast, home fries, and mimosas, all of which were delicious. The service was also relatively fast. One thing we really appreciated was that the café wasn't crowded, making it a nice, quiet space to enjoy our meal and have conversations without too much background noise. Unfortunately, our experience was affected by poor service. Our waiter forgot one of our orders and, instead of addressing the mistake professionally, was rude to us. I waited for my friend's food to arrive before eating, and by then, mine had gone cold. It was disappointing, especially because the food itself was great. If you're looking for a quiet spot with good breakfast options, this place is worth checking out--just hope for better service!

Does the cafe have outdoor dining?

Yes they do! It's on the street but it was covered.

Is Spoons handicap accessible? I remember a step up to get in the door, but are there stairs inside?

We have a portable not a permanent wheelchair ramp to get inside the building. There are no steps inside.

I've recently started working in the area and they are supper close thus I decided to try them out…read more I was very excited when I saw it was Korean owned however their K-food section is only two items; Bulgogi Dupbap & the Bulgogi Sub. The rest of the menu is American stuff. I've as of now tried both of these and very content with the taste and filling of these two, the price is reasonable per the portion and yummyness($12.49) plus tax about $13.25. The only thing I would change a bit is making sure that the juice from the bulgogi doesn't soak the bread too much cuz then it's mushy. I like a crunchy texture to my subs, but the may be just my preference. Both the son and the mom are super nice, if you become a regular it's very nice to have people know what you want right away. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I hope that they can incorporate more korean food to their menu, at least 2 more that have a different protein so we have a bit more variety. Though I understand why the options for kfood are limited given the area's population. Things to keep in mind: - When you order let them know if you want it to go or to eat there. Nobody can read minds, but they will do their best to ask you prior to packaging to confirm. - It can get busy so sometimes transaction may take longer because people are multitasking. - - - Don't rip out the receipt, you might be taking the wrong copy. Wait for the cashier to hand it to you or simply ask. -If you have questions about a product, ask them and don't assume. Yes. There is a big menu and pamphlets available and they provide brief item description but if that's not clear, just ask. They also have prepackaged salads, fruit and a few sweet treats, along with MissVickies chips, and bottle drinks. It's a cafe so the basics. Overall, really nice experience. Tots recommended :3

Solid Experience, But I Miss the Old Owner…read more Café on the Square is a reliable spot with decent food and a cozy atmosphere. The service was good, and the dishes were tasty, but nothing that really stood out. That being said, I miss the old owner--there was something special about his presence that made every visit feel more welcoming and personal. I hope the new management keeps things moving in the right direction. I'll definitely return, but it's just not quite the same without the old vibe.

SHUT THE FLUFF UP! SO GOOOOD!!!…read more We were in Baltimore with a few hours to spare in the morning, so what to do?!? First thing that comes to mind is... crab for breakfast! Ok yelp, show me watcha gat!!! Oh, AND Open Early! Unfortunately, we have just a few options pop up (Wha?!? REALLY?!? It's Baltimore, aren't they famous for crab?!?), so we choose to hit Blue Moon Cafe! Yelp directions are on point and only street parking from what we can see. We brave the brisk chilly breeze of early May to get to the cafe... BRRRR!!! Inside motif has a dark theme to it and small patronage area. Per the lovely Nicki who greeted us, Blue has been on Food Network a few times... DDD, Best Things I Ever Ate & Destination FOOD... so settin' the bar HIGH from the start! Ok, okay I dig the confidence!! Menu is via QR code but Nicki, becuz she's fun, excitedly announces the recs to the newbies, which are Sweet Baby Jesus & Cap'n Crunch French Toast. Thanks for the heads up! Sweet Baby has lump Crab in the dish so that's a confident YES! for that, but I spy something more appealing than Cap'n Crunch... Let's EAT! SWEET BABY JESUS!: Wifey and I wanted crab and this was Blue's big gun! So YES! To The Dish! It may appear as a simple Hash Brown dish but it is so much GLORIOUS than that! To start, Hash browns are browned & crisped perfectly and then the angel's touch happens... lump crab (generous portion) with Old Bay Seasoning, fresh diced tomatoes, melty cheese, 2 over Medium eggs and homemade Hollandaise Sauce. HOLEY MOLEY! DEEE-LISH! Generous crab serving allows you to have crab with EVERY bite of this dish! Mmmmm :) Love the ooey gooey stretchy cheese! Love the runny eggs! And that Hollandaise?!?! LEGIT! This heavenly dish deserves all the hype! The only drawback was the dish got cold fast because of the cold weather outside I assume. By the time I finished my order, and got to helping Wifey, not as WOWzers compared to when it first dropped on our table. Now we know... eat fast when it's cold outside. lol SHUT THE FLUFF UP! FRENCH TOAST: Once I read "peanut butter" in its ingredients, no way I was passing this up! Buh Bye fan fave Cap'n Crunch, maybe next time lol. Officially, menu "says" it's a Pretzel encrusted French Toast, layered with chunky peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and Chocolate drizzle... allegedly. The chocolate drizzle was not present when the plate landed but generous melty smooth peanut butter completely covered the top of the marshmallow fluff. Sliced Granny Smith apples and thin pretzels also topped the dish, with a powdered sugar drizzle over the entire plate. I asked for extra peanut butter on the side just because no one ever puts enough for my liking lol. And whattya know?!? This newest iteration of the dish was FABULOUS! Did they run out of stuff? Who cares! The synergy these items had with each other just made an amazing bite each and every time. BOMB-alicious!!! I don't really like marshmallow but it wasn't a hindrance here. I devoured the entire thing. Compliments to the chef! ;) VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! Definitely worth a visit and a return visit, as well! If it's cold outside, focus on eating not chit chatting lol ENJOY! :)

My husband and I recently dined at Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point, Baltimore, and were disappointed…read moreby our experience. The issue began when my husband politely asked a question about a menu item because it appeared to be spelled "browns" rather than "hash browns." He simply wanted clarification regarding what the item was. The server asked him for context, and he explained that he was referring to the item as it appeared on the menu. She then replied, "Oh, now I have context. That's a hash brown." My husband explained that because of the way it was written, he wasn't sure what it meant and was only asking a question before ordering. At that point, the server's tone became noticeably louder, and she responded, "Well, I only work here. I didn't write the menu." We found this response unnecessarily defensive and dismissive. At no point was my husband criticizing the server or correcting her. He was simply trying to understand a menu item. Shortly afterward, a different server began assisting our table, which gave us the impression that the original server was upset by the interaction. When my husband placed his order, he specifically requested that the restaurant's "animal sauce" be served on the side. The menu does not explain what animal sauce is, so he wanted to try it separately before putting it on his meal. When the food arrived, the dish was completely covered in the sauce rather than having it on the side as requested. Afterward, we learned that the sauce is a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise. My husband does not eat mayonnaise and ketchup on eggs, which is exactly why he requested the sauce on the side. Unfortunately, because of the uncomfortable interaction earlier, he did not feel comfortable asking for the dish to be corrected and simply tried to eat around it. The meal was not inexpensive, and because the sauce had been poured over most of the food, he was unable to enjoy it. Approximately 80% of his meal was left uneaten. We understand that mistakes happen and that restaurant environments can be busy. However, customers should be able to ask questions about menu items and make simple requests without feeling uncomfortable or concerned about how those requests will be received. Description of waitress: Caucasian Middle aged Heavy set Extremely loud voice Rude ( nice/nasty) We wanted to share this feedback because the interaction negatively impacted our dining experience and left us feeling unwelcome. We hope this feedback is received in the spirit intended so that future guests feel comfortable asking questions and making requests without concern.
