They do nothing to enhance the ambiance down there, but if you take the time to sort through what they have you could find that surprise item that you can't find anywhere else for half the price or even less. But back upstairs, they have everything from vacation wear to formal wear. From every season, to outdoor sports, to accessories. If you like that New England look the MA Islands are so famous for, this is where you can find it. Most often when we come here we shop in both stores. Sometimes we climb back and forth trying to decide if we like the deal downstairs more than the full priced item upstairs. You should try it when in Vineyard Haven. Jake helped the kids picked discs, gave some instructions and tips to get them started, and provided directions to the course and recommendations on what holes to play. The next day, they not only remembered me, but remembered my name and the name of my girlfriend, which I'd only dropped in passing. They were incredibly helpful, threw in some accessories, gave us a little discount (for a reason I can't recall) and sent us on our way, with a promise that if anything should happen - or if we wanted to swap out our Cruisers for a Mountain-Bike-style, we should just swing by, no extra charge. They gave us handlebar baskets, locks, and even helmets if we wanted one. Every day we road down the main drag, we'd see these guys outside with their bikes, greeting people, or inside, taking care of customers, but they'd always smile and wave. GEORGIO was our man, and I'll go to him every time I return to MV. *The rates are great *The staff is exceptional *The location is perfect, especially if you're staying in Vineyard Haven I simply cannot recommend this place enough. THE MOST EXCELLENT THING THEY DID, however, was make arrangements with me to *PICK UP* my bike from the airport. Went to pick up the bike, he tells me it's the "trickiest" flat repair he's ever done and he's going to "hit me hard"--writes down $89.00 for labor--$115 all in to fix a flat. Labor is $10.37 for the same thing at the local bike shop--I watched a kid in his 20's do it in under 10 minutes. Avoid this guy.

I had just had a fender bender in the Stop & Shop parking lot and was shaken up. I told him this and that I just wanted to drop off the bike for two new tires and tubes but he proceeded to lecture me for 20 minutes before he ever started filling out the intake slip. I told him I had run a bike shop of my own selling electric bikes in order to slow down his constant posturing and bragging about his skills, but it set him off. "Electric Bikes aren't bikes! They're glorified scooters and I won't touch them!" He proceeded to insult my intelligence, shamed me for not coming in February, when tuneups were discounted (although I told him I'd just gotten the bike the day before), tried (HARD) to sell me 5 or 6 unneeded items and insisted that I also get a "tune for safety" service. When I asked the price for that he said, I don't know till I get into it. When I asked him to call me with an estimate he said, "I don't do that." I really wanted my new tires, but mostly to get home and deal with my car accident. Every time I opened my mouth he was off on a negative rant, so I just shut up and waited for him to run out of steam. Fortunately another customer came in and I was able to escape. Once home, I read the reviews and all the people with similar experience whose bikes had been held hostage for hundreds of dollars. So I brought my big, pumped, hunk of a husband back to the store and we got the bike back (John hadn't started the work yet). We discovered that he hadn't even written "new tires and tubes" on the slip! He would have delivered the bike without the things I wanted done but with a tune up I hadn't requested. I dodged a bullet. So should you. Many other good shops on the island without being insulted, shamed, and manipulated. If you don't live on MV, ask an islander. He has a bad rep.

He has always been fair, honest, and friendly. In contrast to other reviews, I have had only good experiences here and recently bought a mint 1972 Bobby Orr for $50. Last summer I got a ex-mt 1957 Clemente for $135. His best values are in his slabbed cards, but everything in the store is reasonable & the owner is always helpful and engaging.
