One Star This place is a joke. Barbers act like they're doing you a favor just for showing up. I sat there forever while they were too busy talking and messing around. Haircut looked like it was done with a lawnmower blindfolded. Zero attention to detail. Zero customer service. If you want to leave looking worse than when you came in, this is the spot. We decided to stop by because we notice there was a BIG RED SIGN that said walk-ins. when coming the person that was there was not welcoming at all I asked if we were able to get service and he said he had an appointment already (understandable) he said if you want to wait there is a lady that can take care of you (no problem) we waited. not sure if the lady was on break or simply just busy in the back, I'm sure he could've of just got up and let the lady know there were customer waiting, and if she was busy we could've waited, now and days im sure any business wants to take as much customers as they can do to how the economy is.. but maybe they don't have that issue here and they don't need the 40$ I was going to spent today there. I work in customers service and I know how important is for the business to provide a welcoming and friendly service so that we can get customers coming back. Unfortunately this was my first time there, place is nice and clean but your service didn't go with it. I'm a returning customer to this shop, I don't think I will be returning because I went in for a haircut that was a medium fade. Left with parts of my side burns and sides of my face left patchy with hair. Barber started to cut randomly and now I have an uneven haircut on top, the front has more hair then the back, forgot to do lineup but when I reminded the barber he messed it up. Before I entered I had seen a person eating on there bench outside peacefully, during the haircut They harassed a person eating outside on there bench but the person was quiet and not bothering but they took his seat and shut the whole front down. I have been getting my haircut at Sports Barbershop since 2016 (specifically by Raquel since 2020). I found Sports Barbershop when I initially moved to Paramount. After trying out a few different ones in the area, Sports Barbershop was the clear winner for me. The staff is always friendly, inviting, efficient, and, no matter whose chair I sat in, I always left more than satisfied. When they closed during the pandemic, I went 3-4 months without getting a haircut. When I was finally able to go back (with a head full of hair), I had ideas for a new style. Raquel was able to give me the haircut I was looking for and I've stuck with her ever since. When I lived in Paramount, it used to take me 5 minutes to get to Sports Barbershop. However, since moving, it now takes me 30 minutes to get there from my home. That being said, the drive is always worth it. I don't see myself searching for a new barbershop anytime soon. read more

They take walk ins but expect to wait if you do. Save some time and use their appointment system. Super easy to use. Try to book a day in advance, appointments are pretty limited if you try to book the same day. You DO have to keep your mask on but they work around it well. The inside is very clean. I go with Raquel because she's great (+20yrs of experience). Just show her what you want and boom bam you're out in 30-40 minutes with a fresh cut. She's quick but not rough about it. My favorite thing is I've never had to wait. If you're appointment is at 11am, the seat is ready for you at 11am. Parking is limited to the street right in front. I'll keep it short. Moved to Paramount a year ago and have been making the drive to Uptown Whittier to my barber. Couldn't make it out there today so i figured i'd finally give a local shop a try. Went into Sports Barber Shop, Street parking only which wasn't horrible. Walked in, no acknowledgement from any of the workers whatsoever. Which isn't bad i guess but at my regular spot people walking in are usually greeted with something to the likes of "Welcome" or "Hey, how's it going" The barbers that were working looked to be more into the soap opera playing on the TV then the actual hair they were cutting. About 30 mins later nothing really seemed to change. Very slow pace. I decided to walk out. Might seem unfair to compare them to my regular shop, but situations like this make it easier to drive further for my haircut. read more

I'm obsessed with trying out new barbers around my neighborhood. It's the only way to distinguish the good from the bad. This is probably my six or seventh barber shop that I've reviewed. Maybe more. When trying out a new barber shop for the first time. Stop and look to see who clients are waiting for. Do this before committing yourself to a bad barber. Obviously the good ones rarely have no wait. Take note. On this particular evening, there was only two working barbers. They have approximately eight chairs. They have the old school reupholstered chairs. This automatically earned them one star. You can't be a good barber shop with new modern chairs. I want to see a lot of chrome and heavy cushioning on the upholstery. I can't help it. I come from a family of barbers and this is just a must. The walls here are adorned with various sports memorabilia. Hence the name Sports Barber Shop. I saw a framed Brazil autographed soccer jersey. A framed LA Dodgers Valenzuela jersey. Various NFL football helmets inside of showcases. The place has a lot of space inside. Too much if you ask me. The client bench seating area was not comfortable at all. This is where they lost a star. The benches need to be upholstered. Badly. My barber did an excellent job including the use of a straight razor. He also changed the blade before shaving me up. Big indication that this place is sterile and clean. Yes, I'll be coming back. read more

I have lived in paramount a year and a half. After moving here from Inglewood and having a favorite barber there I was reluctant to try any new barber shop. After my husband encouraged me to take our son to the barber shop around the corner from where we lived I still was hesitant. Raquel cut my son's hair, & I was quite impressed. With us being African American and the barber shop being primarily Hispanic I wasn't sure what to expect. But I love it! So I'm finally writing a review for this business. To be honest, I've been getting my haircut here for over 10 years, 15 probably. I'm not the only one, there are many regulars that I recognize when I head in. This is a local family run business, and although all the barbers aren't related, they definitely act like they are. Parking is tough, but worth it in my opinion. I'm a regular with the owner, Hector, but have used Raquel or one of the other barbers & was not disappointed. Very clean shop. As you can see, my initial review was added over 5 years ago. The latest picture I just added really says it all for me. That's Hector the owner of the shop and next to him are my 2 sons Noah- 11 and Joseph-2 and it represents all that's important to me and that's family. And that's exactly the treatment and feeling you get from everyone when you walk in. Me personally, I'm very particular about my hair and I'm sure most of you are and since meeting Hector over 13 years ago, I still have not found a shop to give you that feeling of family and comfort while getting a haircut the way you want it; fresh, clean, smooth and leaves you feeling with confidence that some might not have but yet feel when they leave this place. And that's why I make the drive all the way from corona with my 2 sons' so that they can get that same feeling I just described and on top of that they treat my family as if it was their own and you know what, over the 13 years and watching myself and family grow I can honestly say we are FAMILY! First time here. Just moved to the area, and figured to switch it up and not make the long drive to my other barber. Parking is bad, they're surrounded by apartments, which you'll be lucky if the 3 spaces located in front are available. Walked a block to get here. Walked in and there were 3 barbers, one was eating, the other on their phone and the 3rd guy was the only one that acknowledge me as I walked in. He took care of me right away, got a high fade with a 2 on top and a double 0 on the sides. I will definitely be coming back, and getting my hair cut from this dude.
