Bill had me doing 2 machines with too heavy of weights for a 77 year old woman. I thought Bill knew what he was doing. I never had sciatic nerve pain before, but now I have severe pain in my right back. hip, thigh, buttocks and down my leg. It's been eight days and its not getting any better. I guess Bill decided not to return my calls because the damage is already done and there is nothing he can do to help me. I called my primary doctor to see what he can do for me. ​I can only sit for a short time and lying down is difficult. I have lost a lot of sleep due to all the pain.

I have been working with Dr Sarah since October 2025 and it has been life changing, especially if…read moreyou work with her and the personal trainer in Tivoli. They both work out of tivoli and will communicate with each other about your issues and how to solve them together. I've had a lot of posture issues along with muscle imbalances from years of bad habits and personal training with trainers who just didn't really know what they were doing. When I told Dr Sarah about all the pain and discomfort I was experiencing along with the struggles I've had in progressing in strength training and gaining muscle, she was able to diagnose that it was caused by a lot of muscle imbalances in my body which led to a lot of muscular tension, and inability to use the correct muscles during my workouts. This is very detailed work that other physical therapists I've seen did not get into. It really takes time, experience and knowledge to check all the different muscles and joints etc in your body with feedback from you describing your symptoms to see which parts of your muscles etc are functioning correctly or not. She did manual massage work on me to release tension in the tightest areas, she also used the Graston technique. We tried dry needling too but I just don't feel so good with needles. Nevertheless, the muscle release plus all the exercises she gave me to work on at home, which were not overwhelming, you can just tell her what your time constraints are and how much you're comfortable doing, it has completely changed the way I work out and the way my body feels on a daily basis. During the sessions, she taught me how to engage the right muscles and we practiced the homework exercises together. I used to carry so much tension in the back and sides of my neck and upper traps and have now learned to engage the muscles around my scapula more and the front neck, so now I carry significantly less tension in the back and sides of my neck and the upper traps. I've had these issues ever since I stated strength training 10 years ago and was never able to solve this issue before. Whenever I would workout, it was like I was constantly working out my neck and upper traps in every exercise I did. Now, when I'm working out, it's such a relief to no longer feel all that tension in those areas and to actually feel the correct muscles during the workouts. It's an ongoing process, I still struggle a little with upper trap tension but the improvement is enormous. We just started working on my knee valgus issue and I'm confident this will see significant improvement as well. I am as mentioned earlier, also working with the personal trainer in tivoli in conjunction with Dr Sarah and Dr Sarah advises the personal trainer on my diagnosis and the trainer will create a training plan accordingly and give feedback to Dr Sarah about my progress and any additional issues the trainer notices I struggle with. It's very collaborative and extremely effective.

Gerardo was absolutely to the point on stretching me in the most pleasing way imaginable. He is a Stretch Therapist excellente. Soon enough, before the 30 minutes session was over, I was a happy noodle. In the middle of the day I played the piano. My old true mellow sound had come back to my happiness. When I was in pain, I heard only harsh abrasive sound on my piano; and thought of ending the piano life. But no, I can keep playing the piano with Gerardo's help. In the evening, I took a mile walk without the usual pain and stiffness in my lower back and glutes. This opened my eyes on Physical Therapy, which I had previously thought light of. Gerardo is the effective knowledgeable professional. He is the great find. I am going back to him from now on. I usually get an appointment for after work and doctor Corey has been who I have been seeing. A handful of times throughout the years I have thrown out my lower back. My lower back going out in the earlier years would only last for about a week. Then about two years ago, it was out for two weeks. This year, it was out for three weeks. Nothing seemed to be happening treatment wise. I couldn't roll over on the table. When I got off of the table, I hit the wall and was stuck there with back spasming pain for about three minutes. Doctor Corey sent me for an MRI of the lumbar area because something was definitely wrong. I do like this place mostly because of the sports therapy that is offered. For example, my lower back pain is mostly caused from my hamstring muscles being too tight and that pulls on your lower back. That Stim treatment with the giant heating pad is a game changer. I do wish that instead of ten minutes, it was more like twenty minutes. When you have extreme lower back pain, laying face down on the massage like treatment table feels relieving. This last time with the heating pad, Stim, and laying face down on the table I found myself taking a nice nap. When that ten minute timer went off and woke me up I was like, "Damn it!" I did ask if yoga was a good idea and Corey said definitely. I have been doing the yoga and found out that I am nowhere near limber. It does help quite a bit though. I have sent many people over the years to this place for treatment and have heard nothing but positive feedback.
