We purchased a jersey for my son's birthday a few months ago, which cost more than $100. The second time it went through the wash, all of the lettering started coming off. This has never happened with all of the other jerseys we've purchased elsewhere and cleaned in the same washer/dryer. So we wanted to exchange it or get a refund, as something was defective with this jersey's quality. We emailed them, but received no response. We tried calling several times, but as others here have said, no human would ever answer the phone. You couldn't even leave a voicemail because the mailbox was full. Finally, I brought the jersey into the store on Clark (we don't live very close), when I was with my son. The staff treated us absolutely terribly and refused to give us a refund, store credit, or an exchange, even though I had an online receipt. When I showed him the lettering was peeling, he claimed we must have put bleach on it and then said that it was dirty (those two things are contradictory and neither was true), so it was our fault. I pointed out that this issue of the lettering peeling off has never happened to us with jerseys purchased elsewhere. Then he pointed at my son, who was wearing a different jersey he's had for 4 years and said he must be rough on his jerseys. That really upset my son. Then, when I could tell he wasn't going to offer me more than 15% off on a different purchase, I tried to talk to a different clerk about it. He immediately yelled "Are you deaf? He told you already. I'm already in a bad mood today!" I can still hardly believe just how mean and unprofessional these two men were to their customer - especially with a kid present. So I packaged it back up and had it sent back. I paid $188.95 for the item and only received $91.95 for my refund... so due to their ridiculous "restock" fee (for an item THEY messed up and ruined with their shoddy customization) and shipping charges... they took $97 and after doing the math, that means they kept $37.79 for their restock fee and $29.61 for shipping each way. My Shohei Ohtani jersey is listed as "authentic" but it's actually only half true. The jersey itself is an authentic Nike jersey. I've attached images of an actual authentic jersey (in white) and their "custom" job (royal blue) for you to compare. Especially after seeing these reviews. I also sent them a DM on instagram and email just trying to get a hold of them as soon as possible. However, within the hour, a rep replied back to my email saying "Canceled" and then saw a refund appear on my card. I'm not one to leave negative reviews without seeking a resolution. I reached out to Sports World Chicago immediately upon receiving the wrong jersey on 6/15. Despite multiple emails, website messages, and calls, it took until 6/26 to elicit a response. It's 8/11 and I STILL have not received the correct jersey. This has been an agonizing back-and-forth that has persisted for months. Their promises of rectifying the error proved empty. I was assured on 6/26, that the correct jersey would be sent, but it never arrived. On 7/12, they admitted they never sent it and asked me to return the incorrect one. I had no problem returning the wrong jersey, but am very frustrated I was not told that was required until a month after my initial inquiry. Still, weeks after returning the incorrect jersey, I have not received the item I ordered. Over 2 months to correct an error is absolutely unacceptable. Before ordering, I came across mixed reviews but chose to disregard the negative ones, assuming they were isolated incidents. Sadly, this has not been the case. The lesson here is clear: while Sports World Chicago might produce quality products, their customer service and reliability are deeply flawed. If you have the time and energy to risk spending over 2 months of constant follow up to get the item you paid for, go ahead and order from them. The store itself is sporty, with exposed brick walls and good display of the merchandise. By the time I finally received my custom item, it was of no use to me. It was too late. Of course I didn't need customer service since I wasn't planning on buying anything. This store carries a lot of Chicago sports gear but it's mostly Cubs stuff (since its in Wrigleyville). I would've given it a better rating if the prices weren't enormous. Cmon, $35 for a baseball cap, $30 for a t shirt? Fortunately there's a clearance section where things are much more reasonable. This was the second (and now last) time I have ordered something through SWC. Ordering is easy. Paying them (of course) is easy. Getting your product however is the worst. No emails or calls relating to the status of your order. The shipping is ALWAYS late. The first time I ordered, there was a significant delay, and I was told because it was a custom order (different name on the back of the jersey). This time, it's just the jersey. No custom anything and it's STILL slow to deliver. It's been a MONTH since placing the order and ZERO communication. Product has been delayed. Product has shipped. NOTHING. It's JUST a jersey. How f'ing hard is it to grab it off the rack and ship it? Apparently for them, really really hard. Never again will I get anything through SWC. I would rather pay more elsewhere and have it delivered on time or sooner, than save a couple of bucks and have it shipped (if at all) MONTHS late. So much for a nice XMas present. When ordering I was told the order would ship in 1 to 2 days. When I did not get the product by February 25, I called their 800 # and left 4 messages in 4 days. NO REPLY. Yesterday I came in for two custom jerseys. Chatted with the girl while she made them. At first I thought she was just bored and it was a slow day. Which I knew would be the best time for me to shop. She asked me who the jersey was for one was a bday gift, a memoral jersey for my friend who's Dad passed away a couple years ago. He never made it to see a Cubs World Series and was a huge fan....
