I rarely write reviews for anything other than restaurants. But when I do, it's usually because the service was spectacularly good - and Sportsman's Warehouse in Sheridan is no exception. I came into Sportman's Warehouse to look for a new firearm. Despite multiple patrons at the gun counter, I was immediately helped. The employees were extremely knowledgeable about their inventory and the firearms they were selling. Later, when we were about to leave, my friend and I proceeded to buy a bag of hard candy. When we got to the cashier, he was swamped with other customers at the customer service counter. Instead of having us wait to process the transaction, he simply gave us the candy free of charge. The level of service here is unparalleled. The employees are attentive, knowledgeable, nice, and truly care about the customer. Sportsman's Warehouse in Sheridan has earned my business. I will be buying my future supplies and firearms from this specific Sportsman's Warehouse. read more

Sportsman's Warehouse has a wide selection of outdoor gear and clothing (mostly men's), which makes it convenient for holiday shopping or comparing prices. However, it's not a place I go to for advice or help with my questions. The staff doesn't always feel approachable or female-friendly, which can be disappointing, especially in a store trying to reach a diverse customer base. I did find a shirt to coordinate with next time I visit Lead Valley! That said, if you know what you're looking for, it's a decent spot to find what you need. But for a more welcoming experience, I'd suggest looking elsewhere if customer service is a priority. read more

This was the first time I've been in this store. I was impressed. I friend bought me a pistol here for my birthday and gave me a gift card for ammunition. It's taken me a month but I finally got over here to check it out. This is a large store with all sorts of sporting and outdoor activity type equipment. They have rifles, pistols, ammunition and all sorts accessories. Ie, scopes, magazines, cases, targets and large gun safes. They have camping equipment, clothes, footwear, tents, rafts, camping food, canoes and a litany of other products. The store is well lit, plenty of safe parking and the store is very clean. The staff treated me extremely well and didn't trays me like a child while I was looking at the guns. Sadly, many places that sell firearms treat grown women like children and talk down to us like we don't know anything. This place didn't do that. The man at the gun counter just treated me like a person. I really appreciated that. I will happily return here as I need things. Their ammo price are very competitive and they have a huge selection in stock. I was even able to get 7mm Remington magnum cartridges here. A rare find these days. read more

Many reasons i leave this review. 1. Customer service is terrible. The staff is lazy and G-d forbid you ask them a question that makes them use a single brain cell! 2. Inventory management is horrible. Things are said to be in stock at this location online but go in and you wont find what you are looking for. They stock up on things that people don't buy and get the littlest if any of the things that people buy regularly. It wasn't until a call to corporate that they started to order small bore shotgun gauge shells. Overall poorly run store with staff that is not trained in customer service. read more

Man. Some of these reviews are brutal, and they describe some really awful experiences. Thankfully, my experience was nothing like those. I went in tonight to ask some questions about 9mm pistols. Eddie met me, answered my questions, showed me a few different pistols, and even took one apart to show me how they are disassembled and reassembled. He answered my every question, showed me multiple different models of pistol, told me about a seminar that I could attend to learn more about concealed carry, showed me a service plan, and explained all the ins and outs, but did not pressure me to buy the plan, and even told me how to get a discount on my purchase if I completed a credit application. He also pointed out which 9mm ammunition was on sale and made sure I got a box before I left. His service was so exemplary that I actually spent about $150 more than I intended to, even after my discount. Eddie, you're top notch, man. I've had the best experiences at Sportsman's warehouse! Whether purchasing a new gun or scope, or camping gear their staff has been extremely knowledgeable! They have taken the time to help me make a well informed purchase. Spoke well about any product. I'm they offer much better prices on most everything than Cabelas, Bass Pro, or REI. Today Skip took an hour and a half to explain the complexities and pros and cons of new rifle scopes. Took my input and set out two scopes that would be perfect for my setup. Mounted the scope and rings and bore sighted my rifle as well as my sons gratis! read more

After that debacle of wasted money on winter clothing and store credit issue I decided after more than a year to try my luck and use that store credit for hiking shoes. I'm happy to say success! Not with the in store options but online! I am now the proud owner of a nice pair of Keen low rise hiking shoes that I wear almost everyday! Experience with trying to return/exchange an item Bought a pair of Salomon shoes for about 100 from there, I took them out once and noticed the material on the shows unraveling so I took them to the store to return them due to a defective product. I own 2 other Salomon shoes that have lasted years before showing this level of ware. I had purchased them a month ago and 7 days, 7 days past their return policy. But I figured since these shoes were defective I went to see if I could just swap them out, just like REI would let me do or any respectable retailer. Was told I was on my own. The 2 star is just because she told me how to go about contacting the manufacturer, that's all. read more

If you are going to purchase a gun, make sure you plan on staying there for over 2 hours. The background check takes about 20-30 minutes. Ross who works at the gun counter will make you wait. Ross get distracted very easily and works very slowly on a gun purchase. He will not handle your gun with care as well. He treated my gun like it was garbage. If buying a gun, make sure you go to anybody besides Ross. read more

Worst customer service experience I've ever had. Employees back at the gun counter have absolutely no clue whatsoever how to treat and deal with customers or busy times. Stood at the end of the counter near the roped-off section and waited for literally 45 minutes. Not one single employee said a single word to me such as, "We're really busy but will be right with you", despite the fact that multiple employees walked right by me and saw that it was quite obvious I needed something behind the counter. I watched five or six employees gather around a single customer at the other end of the counter and sit there and b.s. with them for 20 minutes while other customers impatiently waited to be helped. This is why many people I shopping for sporting goods prefer to go to small businesses and support them instead. read more

This store is kinda cool. The emphasis here is guns, and a lot of them. My dude said they had a good selection and decent prices. I don't care about guns. They have great camping supplies, albeit limited stock, but of what they have, their selection is great! Good stuff for outdoorsey dogs, too. After going here, I wanna take up fishing! Tul ammo 357 bullet's get stuck in my revolver after firing. The manager understands that his father had the same thing happen to him. They refused to exchange for a better manufactured bullet's. I only used 7 out of 50. Don't buy from this company. They will sell you a defective product! Good Customer service would be take back Russian made bullets with a 15% lost at my end and sell me bullets that are known to work. read more

Ordered a pistol that had to be shipped from one Sportsman's Warehouse facility in a different State, to a Sportsman's Warehouse located in Sheridan, CO. It took some time, but then I Received an email on March 20, 2023, requesting I call to schedule a time to pick it up. The next day, I tried calling the number listed: (303) 761-5900, but it was an odd busy signal, then disconnected. I tried 4 times. So I just thought I would drive over as soon as I had a chance. Two days later, March 22, 2023, I received a followup email stating the order was cancelled and a refund on the way. The reason they listed for the cancellation was that my order was "abandoned". That is preposterous! I then tried calling (800) 286-3076 and after being on hold 3 times, each about 10 minutes because, again, for whatever reason, kept being disconnected. Finally spoke with a wonderful lady, but there was nothing she could do, e.g., the ordered was cancelled and I would have to repurchase. My refund would not be completed for 7-10 business days. I'm not one to pay twice for the same product up front, so I declined, opting to wait until I confirm the original purchase was, in fact, refunded first. Anyway, what a lousy thing for Sportsman's Warehouse to do. Likely a problem with their AI, that they will never fix. And doubtful they will fix their phones either. Just a miserable experience from a giant company that could care less about customer relations. I will wait until a smaller, more "Mom and Pop" style business that cares about their customers, has the pistol I want. read more

Although Sportsman's doesn't price gouge, which is nice, their hunting counter is seriously understaffed. Staff members can be a bit brusque, and the wait is long. They have a "take a number" system but don't use it, so customers are on their own to sort out who is getting helped. Overall, it's worth it o pay more, but get better service, at a local FFL store. read more

I had a great experience, the staff in the firearms desk: Erick, Tom, and Jeremiah . They were fast , efficient and helpful. Because the background checks were taking so long , they were transparent about it and asked for my phone number to let me know that I could come back when it was ready, maybe other day , up to 29 days later. That made my life a lot easier, I have gone to Cabelas in the past and they just tell you to wait and keep you there for up to 2 hours , without giving you the option to do it some other time unless you asked them to. I picked up what I bought the next day and everything could've been faster if the manager had been more available , but the staff was amazing. I have been shopping at this particular store for a long time. I have bought a few handguns, a remington 870, archery equipment, calls, ammo... you name it. Every season I am stocking up at this store. I have always ignored to smug arrogance of the older men who work here. I have literally never, not once, had a positive experience with a male who works here. They literally ignore me. This week I walked in ready to but a brand new compound bow set up, arrows, accessories the whole nine. There was an older gent standing at the counter, I walked up, he walked away, I looked at bows for about an hour. Nothing. Finally, I took my $1,000 elsewhere. Really sick of the poor customer service at this store. Guess what, without young sportsmen/woman, the tradition will die. read more

So i went in to purchase a 12gauge shot gun and they didnt have the brand i was looking for so i looked at the other brands they had in stock. We called 3 other locations and was told they had one in stock, well by the time we got to the other locations they were out of stock of the one i was looking for so decided to purchase another brand well deciding this i went back to this location because it is closest to me. Well when i went back in i was denied the sale because i left and came back and was told i can not leave to go price compare or shop around for the brand i wanted. To them i was told is suspicious and i was purchasing this for someone else. Which i never did anything to even in the slightest cause any kind of suspicion to that matter. Spoke to the manager and ask for the regional managers number and was told he will not give it to me and that he works out of a different office. So i will be looking that up myself and contacting him. I honestly feel i was denied simply because of the way i look and the color of my skin. First time in here and will never return.
