Parker, CO location is out of business. A lot of what they carry are second or third shelf type of equipment, so don't expect top of the line ANYTHING. Had to return a massager that worked once and wouldn't hold a charge... never heard of the brand, but was Chinese junk. read more

I bought a pickle ball paddle with a torn face, not noticeable until the wrapping was removed. It is under 2-year warranty. The manufacturer says to deal with the merchant. Big 5 says it is discontinued so they can't exchange it. I found five identical paddles in the store, except for their color and asked to exchange for one of those. They refused saying the price has gone up since I bought my paddle on sale. I would have to pay the difference. I had to dance through hoops and spend one and a half hours arguing with various managers (in store and on the phone) before we worked out a deal. Big 5 needs to treat its customers better. read more

Located around the mall, very large parking lot. Store appearance is ok, looked clean, not modern but not run down. Store was very stocked, plenty of merchandise all over unlike some of the other locations I have been to recently. I went in to find some shoes and someone that was with me had some questions about some of their products. I was able to find someone in the shoe department, and he did help me and got the shoes I needed in the size I needed. He was able to advise that there were no black Friday sales or deals on the shoes that I was looking at. The person that was with me asked some questions and the person answering, was some sort of manager, was not very friendly or helpful, and was kind of dismissive and arrogant, but the funny thing was they were wrong and didn't know what they were talking about. When I went to pay for my shoes I showed a coupon and they said it had just expired and could not be used. I was not happy as there were all kinds of deals and coupons for black Friday so not sure why she could not be helpful. read more

I bought a pair of Columbia hiking boots at this store. The boots fit like a dream from the start. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, one of the boots developed a click that happened every time I stepped with that foot. I did a live chat with Columbia, and was told I should put either baby powder or baking soda in the boot to stop the sound. I went back to the store, where the employee at the register listened to the sound, said that it would drive him bonkers, and went to the boot department with me. He found a new pair thee same model and size, and exchanged them with no problem. I'm so grateful for the outstanding customer service I received today. read more

I went into this store looking for something specific. There were 5 employees all at the cash register talking about cars, motorcycles and racing. After wandering around for about 20 minutes, including right by the cash register never once did they ask to help me. After still searching I saw about 4 or 5 other customers looking for help to no avail. When I found what I was looking for I went to the cash register, the group had moved up the aisle discussing the finer points of jumping motorcycles and the depth of their pants pockets. You will find this Big 5 on the corner of Stone Ave. and River Rd. behind Mr. K's BBQ. It is a smaller Big 5, but they sure do pack in a lot of inventory and they do it without making you feel cramped. You also can make your way through stuff without having to squeeze yourself between aisles or racks. The best part of Big 5 is shopping their sales, of course. Watch their flyers or go online and look at them and you get a feel for what usually goes on sale. Which is just about everything. It has been a rare moment that I ever purchased anything for full retail there. I've purchased camping gear, pocket knives, shoes--lots of items over the years. Just about all on sale. I think their sales are better than SportsAuthority in many ways. At this location, I've always received good customer service in that they have been courteous and helpful and knowledgeable. I kind of like smaller stores over the large box stores because I do not have to walk what seems like a gizillion miles to find what I'm looking for. read more

The employees are so incredibly rude here, it is astonishing how they even hold a job. They don't reciprocate any kindness whatsoever to customers, and their basic demeanor is very cold and unwelcoming. Spend your money elsewhere! read more

My husband and i Stopped by this store to look at the sales and purchase a gift for my brother. While still at the door they asked if we had our masks and my husband said no we didn't. The girl immediately and rudely replied we could not enter without the mask. My husband and i looked at each other and he said, let's go somewhere else. We could have gone for our mask and returned, we've forgotten it before and it's never been an issue. The problem was the unnecessary rudeness. To top it off as we were walking away from the door she made another statement about "hit the road". Geez! Never coming here again! read more

ive bought a few things here over the years and have usually been treated ok and have been satisfied with my purchases. I bought a couple of camping propane single burner stoves recently to check out. I decided to keep the one i wanted and return the other. These were only $20. items no big deal. The one I decided to keep was smaller and i thought would work better for me. A few days later I returned the other one after opening and looking at it only. All the pkg was intact and looked perfect. The guy on duty that handled the return was not friendly and gave me an attitude even though I had the receipt. I don't know what his problem was as I was my usual cheerful self. I guess Ill find a new sporting goods store from now on. Too bad, they were convenient, all he had to do was take care of it and be half way friendly about it and id still be a customer. read more

I've been shopping at Big 5 for years and have bought a lot of basketball shoes there and they always have some on sale or clearance for really good prices. I hate spending a lot of money on outdoor BB shoes that aren't going to last that long anyway. I gave up on the Nike outlet because they rarely have good deals on shoes in my size. I didn't have the same experience as the reviews below. I went to Big Five Sports on Stone to buy a pair of running shoes. I've been buying sports shoes (and equipment) for myself and my three kids at various Big Five Stores for many years. (Translate that as I've literally spent thousands of dollars.) As I expected I found a pair of good fitting shoes on sale. When I went to the cashier and she rang up my purchases the total was twice what I expected it to be. I told her there was a very clearly stated sign that said these shoes were on sale and she replied (with attitude), "Do you have a coupon?" I don't know whether this employee gives everybody attitude, or just older adults. I don't know if she was performing for the several employees hanging out around the cashier counter, but I don't spend my money where they have a disregard for civility. So I told her to put the items back in stock, and left. I drove two blocks away to the Tucson Mall where I had my choice of at least five different stores to purchase my shoes. I did buy my shoes at the mall, but while trying them on I realized that I had left a custom made orthotic in one of the shoes at Big Five. So on my way home I swung by to retrieve it. While there one of the employees, said that he had checked on the sale sign and found that it was not one of the shoes in their coupon ad, and I didn't need a coupon. What was missing? There was no customer curtesy in his statement, merely a cursory, "Gosh, guess we were wrong." Perhaps if he had said, "We're sorry for the misunderstanding..." I wouldn't have felt motivated to write this Yelp review. Big Five Sports on Stone, I won't be purchasing anything from you again. Your staff hangs around the front chatting. They roll their eyes and display a cool distain for customers. They need some serious lessons in courtesy and customer service. Why would I or any other patron spend money there when there are so many alternatives close by? Epic fail. read more

Came into the store last minute today... I think I was the only customer in the store..., the reason for my visit was to find a good pair of shoes that would fitv the type of activity I will be conducting. Long story short Young Gabe helped me get into a pair of Nike FS Lite, I believe, and he did a good job he was very knowledgeable and helped me pick the correct shoe for what I needed to do. he was polite, courteous , and over all delivered GREAT customer service!! Think I tried on 10 pairs of shoes and he was right on top of it no attitude or nothing! On my future shoe purchases for athletic shoes will be here this big 5!! read more

Lack of proper inventory for certain shoe sizes - even online. Took forever to check-out at register. Gun and ammo customers seem to take priority over all other merchandise departments - as directed by the store manager. Pretty awful experience - won't return. read more

I went in to buy some running shoes and this worker named Jorge I believe was so polite and very helpful. He helped me narrow down the shoe that was just right for me. I will definitely be back.
