All BPS are beautifully designed, so that is absolutely the case with this one. Unfortunately, the internal 'lighting' is an absolute travesty, and honestly, it's not the norm. Be prepared to enter Tucson's Cave... Up front, I waited a full week for the bugs to be worked out, but still, a week into it, they failed a couple major points which I'll lay out for you (and hopefully Management!) Overall building: 4 Design/Layout: 3 (read why) Prices: 4.5 Easy to check out: 2 Stocked/managed: 4.5 Negatives first: Sooo, what's the deal up with the '3'? Lighting. It's absent. 1) Whomever, in the engineering design of this location thought it would be wise to put undeniably, the worst, minimalist lighting, lighting so bad you can't see products - well and will unequivocally shun people away is because 90% of the building's side areas from the main archway, is poorly lit beyond reason. Seriously. The photos I'm including are ALL edited/enhanced to darken the cave experience and extreme shadows everywhere and at least give some semblance of what's on the shelves. This is an absolute disaster. Honestly, it needs an immediate lighting replacement. With the understanding they were likely trying to make it a 'cool respite' from the AZ sun, even the employees when asked just shrugged their shoulders - in agreement, but obviously didn't want to speak out against the new building. That tells you something... Good luck in the fishing department, take a flashlight with you if you want to find the counter, LOL. 2) So, aside from the cave theme, all departments were bustling with employes, tons of employees in fact, but not one asked me and I witnessed none of them asking, any shoppers if there was anything they could help them find, or direct them or anything. It was shallow. Cold. Uninviting. Not sure why. You could see the dismay, lack of involvement. Hope this changes! 3) Checking out. A disaster that took north of 10 minutes. Needs drastic improvement. Waiting in line, with only two lanes open and lines stretching, I watched a few put down their items and walk out. Another mistake. Seriously. So, I decided to communicate with their management at what occurred. They said, and I kid you not, 'We're trying our best! but thank you!' Huh?? Yes, you read that correctly. 4) Absolutely in THE WORST LOCATION IN TUCSON. I said it. The Round-About and this location is THE WORST possible location, a nightmare of congestion and vehicle collisions just waiting to happen. Trying to get INTO the 'off-ramp' of the round about wasn't the worst. Good luck trying to get out. Again, love the store but this is engineeringly, the worst location, most cramped ONE ROAD IN, ONE ROAD out location! This should and could have been anywhere else in Tucson, but instead, they plant one of THE largest businesses on an already, super-congested, 'round-about' next to Costco? Who didn't think this through?? 5) Size. The store is nowhere the size you expect. Probably because the space is so unbearably cramped but, it is what it is... 6) Gun Counter. What where they thinking? This needs an immediate redesign. You CAN NOT view all the firearms in the glass cabinets without getting DOWN ON YOUR KNEES. This was not thought out, horrible in concept and execution. Every man at the counter grumbled (as did I) that no one can see the firearms in the glass cabinets. Literally. Positives: 1) Stunning, and I mean remarkably beautiful internal design. They spared absolutely no expense on the creatvity, grand hall entrance, gorgeous colors and rustic appeal. I'll even add it the 'Photo-Booth' was a pleasent surprise for holiday shoots, but again, located on the edge of the shoe department, stuck under nearly zero lighting. The overall decor, shelving, pricing and product displacement was top-notch. Unfortunately, the snack bar wasn't opened but when that does, I hope it's open all hours for shopping to pull people together with food. 2) Lastly, the restrooms deserve credit, THEY are lit, spacious and very appealing design. Kudos to that. Overall I'd say, they made a mistake here, several in fact. Cramped parking, if you can even get in here, as the parking lot itself is unbearably way to small for trucks. Let's remind them again, you're GOING to see a majority of TRUCKS here and they failed inexplicably to SIZE THEIR PARKING lot for this. I can see TPD being called quite often for this issue, just wait. But, with its horrible geographic location, small sized building and zero effective driveway and traffic problems, they missed the mark not even having lines get through and customers out - efficiently, and remind you, this was a WEEK after they opened. Not much can be improved on the outside but the inside and Management have a chance to keep customers coming back, despite the hurdles one will have to face getting in and out without dings on your vehicles. I can't even imagine the trial it'll be to get a boat in and out of there...

Large selection with competitive prices with something for everyone... apparel, shoes, camping supplies, boats, scopes, hunting, fishing... list goes on. Opening weekend was pretty impressive as they were staffed really well and everyone was super helpful. They have brought trainers and managers from all over the country to help open and train staff which is good for brand consistency... and I like that this store will be hiring local. The store was clean and well organized. Having lived in the Midwest it is nice to have a familiar store in the area with additional selections plus in my experience with other Bass Pros (and Cabellas) - they usually have adequate knowledgeable staff to answer question. The only drawback is the bottleneck of traffic almost always at the roundabout which was bad prior and during construction and hasn't eased up with the opening.

Beautiful NEW location @ Spectrum Mall!…read more Recommend: Absolutely. FINALLY SW Tucson got some love!! Long overdue 'outdoor sports' store with everything 'hunting/fishing/camping' and more. Very wide aisles, very brightly lit, extremely clean and stocked. Cameras were hanging literally ALL over the store's ceilings and super friendly staff were abound everywhere. Pros: Can find numerous outdoor/camping/fishing/firearms items galore. Not yet available, but was informed would be online 'soon', and that you can shortly come in to sell used firearms; or for trade-ins! Nice! Live bait is available, gun primers are back in stock, generators and a hefty line of Lodge Cast Iron. Additionally, though you have to look, you can find some very nice price fishing rods amongst the extremely high priced ones. My favorite thing here was the local fishing condition kiosk you could walk up to and digitally see what's going on in the area. Cons: Minus approximately TWO things I found throughout the store (one being a brand of .22LR ammo and some patriotic T-shirts, there really are no 'deals' or holiday sales going on. In fact, prices are not below average online retail at this point; hope that changes. *Cons: Gun prices, including USED guns are not valued correctly here. Prices are just not sales encouraging at this point though guns have certainly held their value recently. *Cons: Additionally, I was shocked to find that there was an EXTREMELY limited amount of 9mm ammo and absolutely zero bulk ammo available. Not a good way to start off a store. The sheer need and current national stock having NO issues at this point was sloppy not to have that as a selling point to bring in peeps with their families. The store mutually was practically absent of reloading items which I hope changes because this clearly, is a hot market in retail across this nation and to 'not' stock it was an entirely other missed opportunity that smaller stores are raking in on. I feel these points were a sorely missed set of ideals for opening this store, especially when you consider these are HOT items in the Tucson area. Overall, very nice store and I hope it becomes a main-stay for the area. While hunting isn't specifically big in this area, all things ammunition, reloading, guns and fishing ARE. Local and District Managers; take note.

One cashier and I've been now waiting for 15 minutes. I'm waiting on a manager and they look at me like I'm crazy. I'm #2 in the Que for the manager. I'll just walk out. Do not go to this store!!
