I have been going to the Pilates Centre for three years. As someone who has joined various gyms and signed up for countless classes that I never attend this consistency is a really big deal for me! The Pilates Centre is a small studio and I really like the smaller, more personalized environment. I can understand the previous reviewer's frustration as the classes aren't cheap and sometimes last minute things do come up so it's hard to cough up the money when you can't attend. However, the cancellation policy is stated on their website and it's a small studio so if people were constantly canceling last minute they would probably not be able to stay in business. To be honest, this cancellation policy actually is a good thing for me since it makes me keep my appointment vs. being lazy! On the flip side of the other reviewers story, just yesterday I showed up for my group appointment and found that I was literally the only one in the whole studio so I ended up getting a private lesson for my group rate. Show them some loyalty and I'm sure they will take care of you too! To that point, Jen was a generous sponsor of two fundraising events that I worked on which I am extremely thankful for. If you are not a big fan of the big, corporate gym environment you should give this place a try. read more

I have been doing Pilates on the apparatus for 4 1/2 years (and through 3 pregnancies) in NYC and in CT and I have had the most wonderful experience with the Pilates Centre. I have been a 2x/week client for the past year and a half and I highly recommend this studio to anyone is looking for an amazing workout in a beautiful space. The owner and all of the instructors are incredibly professional, dedicated, and warm. I look forward to every workout at the studio, and can credit this place to getting me my post-baby 6-pack abs!! After reading the other review that was posted recently, I also need to note that YES, the studio does have a 24-hour cancellation policy -- JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER SINGLE PILATES STUDIO IN THE WORLD. The instructors' time is very valuable, and as clients we need to respect this. When a new client joins the studio, they sign a form stating that they understand this policy. It is also posted very clearly in the studio. I also have to note that in a year and a half, I have NEVER been asked to reschedule a session -- on the contrary, I have found the instructors to be extremely accommodating to my schedule. Overall, I highly recommend the Pilates Centre and I look forward to being a life-long client! read more

I have been a member at The Pilates Centre for two years now and I can't say enough good things about this studio and it's staff. I walked in there fraught with many injuries and Jen and her staff have "fixed" all of them. Their level of expertise is unsurpassed. I've been hurt (physically) by other trainers in the fitness industry who are good at fooling others into thinking they know what they're doing...these gals at TPC are on point. Quite frankly, I've worked with all of the trainers, including the owner, and I can't decide who is my favorite. The studio is clean, they offer full shower facilities, and there is a full cardio setup and weight training equipment available for use. As I type this, my eyes drifted and I'm reading a negative post by an Anita M...welcome to 2013, Anita M.. I challenge you to find ANY fitness facility, or doctor's office for that matter,that does not adhere to a 24 hour cancellation policy. The Pilates Centre is fabulous!!! read more

If I could give more than five stars I would! Not only are the people who work in, and own, the studio warm and kind, but they have an undeniable knowledge of and passion for Pilates. I started going to the Pilates Centre after being struck by an automobile while running. I had severe damage to my knee, which prevented me from doing any traditional weight training. A friend suggested I join her for a Pilates session. I was skeptical, as I wasn't familiar with that form of exercise; and I was hesitant because I wasn't sure what my body could handle. After a few minutes speaking with Jennifer and Sarah, I realized I was in the hands of true professionals. Jennifer and her team have helped me to improve both my athletic potential (strength and flexibility), my appearance and most importantly, my confidence. I normally don't write reviews, and save my praise for in person kudos, but every once in a while, I like to go public and share my thoughts with others so they know there is a great place, with great customer focus that makes a difference to me. The Pilates Centre is such a place. It has everything I want in a Pilates studio--warm and inviting atmosphere, instructors who are professional, knowledgeable and practice what they teach. My sessions are customized to my current level of physical strength with encouragement to try new and more difficult exercises. Although my work out schedule changes frequently due to client demands, I am always accommodated with easy grace. I have had private Pilates sessions off and on for about 6 years, and there is no place that I have been that measures up to the Pilates Centre! I am so glad to have found it. read more

I've been going to the Pilates Centre for about 6 years and love love love it! I used to do pilates private training at a regular gym before I discovered this studio... At TPC I take group classes and must say they are more challenging than anything I ever did in private sessions. The instructors really know how to push clients to the limit, and the workouts are non-stop (you really make the most of those 50 minutes in class - whether you like it or not!). I'm fairly active - I run, I spin, I do boxing and kickboxing - and thanks to the pilates I do at TPC I gain the kind of strength I need to balance out everything else I do. I just began began training with Jennifer at the SONO ice house in Norwalk. From the moment I met her I knew that I found someone who was going to help me meet my fitness goals. I am getting married in 6 months, so I am on a mission to get into the best shape. In just a short amount of time I have began feeling better about myself and have lost weight. What I love most about working out at the ice house, is that I am able to get the best of both worlds: Pilates with the reformer machine and boot camp style personal training with other equipment Everyone who works there is so welcoming and nice. I have been doing Pilates at the Pilates centre for 2 years now and I have had nothing but a great experience! I work mainly with Jen, but have been taught by some of the instructors also and I find them all warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable! When I first started, I had a pretty serious foot issue and if it wasn't for Jen and her knowledge of the body and Pilates, I never would have had the recovery I did. I have been to other Pilates studios and the Pilates Centre is where I have seen the best results. I could not disagree more with the first reviewer. I just went for my very first one-on-one session and my instructor, Jen was great ! The studio is light, bright and clean! Jen and everyone who works there are super nice and super helpful! I believe that as a consumer the responsibility is on YOU to make sure YOU are well informed on what the business policies and procedures are.... BEFORE you sign on the dotted line. Personally, I don't think that their cancellation policy is out of whack and is pretty much in line with most workout studios. Thank you to The Pilates Centre !!! I have been doing pilates for over 10 years, all over the country, and I love the pilates centre! The workouts are challenging. The trainers use many different forms of exercise and mix it in with the pilates. The workouts change daily. I can honestly say that in the past 3 years that I've been at the studio, Ive never had the same workout twice. I absolutely love that diversity. And the trainers are so nice and funny!!. When you are new to exercise and have a lot of weight to lose it can be very intimidating to walk into a gym or studio. Walking into The Pilates Centre was like being wrapped in a blanket of support! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They take the time to get to know you and your goals and work with you towards achieving them. I've never left the Pilates Centre feeling unhappy. I have done a lot of different exercises in my life and I have been to plenty of different types of gyms, but the Pilates Centre exceeds them all. The Pilates Centre offers a terrific combo of classical and contemporary Pilates methodologies. The fusion classes in particular are some of the best Pilates classes I have ever taken. This is NOT your easy-breezy Pilates class--you will need a shower! Jen is highly skilled and knowledgable, as are her teachers. I have been taking boot camp classes at the SONO ice house. I was hesitant to go at first because I thought I would be the only guy in the class, but I was wrong. I have a bad back so I was worried I would possibly get injured from taking such an intense class. The trainers are always monitoring you to prevent you from injuring yourself.
