Everything went well. From the perfect shooting range to the service from the staff behind the counter. I couldn't have asked for more friendly and helpful staff today. A retired law officer and I were training two elderly women on use of a gun. They were very accommodating. Their suggestions were well taken, and we rented several guns so that they would be comfortable. I can't recommend this place enough. I just wish I lived 1500 miles closer so I could come to the range at least once a week. Randy was especially helpful. read more

Review for Indoor shooting range- POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Being in law enforcement and having gone to various indoor and outdoor shooting ranges throughout CA, I was excited to go shooting this morning while visiting some family in AZ and show them a thing or two I will start with the pro's: The location is easy to find and areas were clean, nice firearms for rentals sale and many items available to purchase; ultimately, we had fun. But Gene who helped us was NOT welcoming and I really felt like canceling our plans and leaving the first five minutes in. We were a party of seven and had previously signed our waivers online to be prepared. That didn't seem to have helped much, as somehow my online waiver was not found, and Gene took over 40 minutes to get us set up with the firearms rentals and purchases. When I asked a question about sharing lanes (we had 3 lanes and 3 different firearms), he did not wait for me to finish asking my question and answered in a very rude manner before I could even finish asking. Rather than ask again in a more simple manner, I decided not to waste my time with someone who clearly wasn't wanting to listen or help our group. When leaving, my family and I had to wait even longer to check out and pay, because Gene was the only staff member at the register and he was helping another large group that was arriving. The way he treated them, compared to the customer service that we received was night and day. Another key difference was as soon as my group and I arrived, he had us all wait behind a tape marker, 6 feet away from the register, while allowing the other group to lean on the glass counters and treating them with respect. I'm not sure if it's a "race thing," or if they were regulars, because he was very friendly to them and again rude to us when leaving. Mind you, we had Caucasian, Hispanic and African American in our group). This is unacceptable. I am highly disappointed with the customer service here. I was looking forward to returning another day, but sadly I don't think I will given today's experience. read more

Sprague's Sports offered a volunteer event, A Post Dove Cleanup (post dove hunting season) and you know me; always up for a decent volunteer event! I arrived super early and received the handouts of: - A choice of breakfast burrito and bottled water - Gloves and trash bags ...and a map of an area for cleaning. They even offered me a route easier to get to because of my non- pickup truck vehicle. I arrived at the site, stayed for a couple of hours picking up shotgun shells and the like, returned and received a complimentary $15 indoor range pass plus a ticket to an event called the Rio de Cerveza Brew Fest (another future Yelp event!). Then I checked out the actual store...not too shabby! I expressed my interest in used law enforcement guns for sale and they were more than happy to oblige, giving me a quick rundown of every weapon I asked about. Didn't have the time to see the indoor range; maybe next time! Anyway, I believe it's worth the time and effort to check this place out. Not the only place in Yuma to buy gun - related merch from, but I'd probably hit Sprague's up first...it just might be worth it! read more

Worked with Zach when I went to check out Bows. I didn't know much about archery other than shooting here and there with friends. Zach had a great amount of patience with me. He showed me the little intricacies that I feel will lead me in the right direction to do well for my first and future hunting trips. Ended up buying my first bow and a small amount of arrows. Looking forward to getting out there. Great selection of rifles and handguns as well. I've been buying from Sprague's for years. They have a great selection of guns and ammo with decent prices. My only complaint is the customer service like... Like other languages have mentioned they are absolutely rude AF especially the older workers behind the gun counter and the range. It took them eight days to ship my order for 3 each M3 grease gun mags, and then only after considerable haranguing. Their shipping prices were off the charts. They charged $25 when a USPS $15 2 day delivery box would have done just as well. And USPS gives you the box for free. This all is just not acceptable. Not in my lifetime. read more

Sprague's will always hold a special place in my memory for being the first place I fired a gun, but more importantly, where I learned about gun safety and responsible ownership. Shortly after moving to Yuma, I signed up for the "First Shots" class. Being an ex-Californian from a gun-averse upbringing, pew-pew activities were the least of my priorities growing up. There's a first time for everything, as they say. "First Shots" and the sequel course, "Second Rounds," are essential classes for gun owners and fanciers alike. You can never have too much gun safety training: Finger off the trigger! Keep the gun pointed down-range! Assume the gun is always loaded! At first, I thought it was near-superstitious that the instructors would always inspect the magazine well and chamber as they handled obviously empty firearms. Now, it's a practice I always do with no exceptions. These are just some of the invaluable lessons I've learned as a patron of Sprague's. Since taking my classes and getting to know the staff at Sprague's, I've had the opportunity to practice several times at the range. They have a wide variety of firearms for rent, which they include as part of your training if you take their classes. You're also encouraged to bring your own firearms to practice with. I appreciate that Sprague's is very selective about who gets to shoot at the range: First, everyone must sign a waiver. Second, you need to be known to Sprague's in some way (e.g., take a class, purchase a firearm, or shoot alongside a member). There is always an element of risk when handling a firearm, but Sprague's has rules in place for all visitors to have a safe and enjoyable experience. Funny enough, I have spent the least amount of time at the biggest part of Sprague's: the store itself! If you're looking to purchase a firearm, maintenance, and other equipment, Sprague's probably has what you're looking for. The only thing that's hard to come by is ammunition. They have a one-box policy given the ammo shortages as of late, and prices have been rather high these days. The employees are forthright about these circumstances, very knowledgeable, and available to answer your questions. If you're interested in the shooting sports, do give Sprague's a visit. As of this writing, they're completing construction on a pistol range for the training classes. I'm happy to see this business expanding and intend to continue coming in as long as I'm in town. Rolled into town to do some dove hunting; or as my wife would say "the felonious murder of innocent doves." Due to the ammo shortage going on across the country, especially in Califreakingfornia, I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to see what I perceive now a days as a plethora of ammunition. My buddy and I went in to score some shotgun rounds and walked out not only with two cases of them, but boxes of other various ammo! The wife texted me the next day inquiring if I really spent XYZ amount of money on ammo. I confessed and then turned off my phone haha. I steered clear of actively looking at the firearms available, because then I might have found my sleeping bag on the front porch when I returned home! But, they had quite an assortment to scope out if inclined. The one staff member we engaged in conversation with seemed very knowledgeable about various aspects of ammo we were interested in; and did not come off as a brash / condescending "know it all" as some employees in gun stores do. LOVE THIS PLACE . Came in to buy ammo (we live in CA - don't hold that against me ). They had, but your limited to 1 box per caliber per person that part kind of sucked, but they want to make sure everyone can get ammo if needed (which is why I didn't take away any stars). Feel like I'm in a Gun Store owned by Trump. No shame on there age but it's run by a bunch of old guys who's brains don't function past 50%. Young guys in there are snobs. Guy at the front register has no idea how to work one! Sat there for 20-30 min while he broke out a caculator triying to figure out percentages. Until I had him call someone's else who also didn't know how to do it. Prices are fair. If you rent one of there guns you HAVE to buy there ammo. A pretty cool store, been a staple of Yuma for a long time. They have a bunch of cool stuff and a wide assortment of used guns. Looks like they just opened a new tactical wing of their store. The tactical side has some cool guns and few accessories. They are still lacking in the accessory side of things but have improved from the last time I was there. They have a large amount of holsters but almost no holsters for Glocks which was surprising. I needed a holster for my Glock 17 for a match I shoot at Adaire. I made the trip to Yuma and forgot some stuff so I stopped into buy some stuff. Fortunately, they had a Safari-land universal holster which would not have been my first choice but it fit my gun. That was the only holster they had that fit a Glock 17 (at that time). Whether you are a Yuman or a visitor from out of town, you should stop in and check this place out. Thanks Guys. read more

For example; I was in need of a proprietary torque wrench for an Aero Atlas Barrel Nut so I called around chow time to see if they had the annoying $5 / 2 week wait time tool to purchase. I was connected to a CALEB. (Caleb, people like you make the world go around; I love you). I explained this situation to him and with a quick response he said "bring it in". To which I did... 4 hours later. I brought it in and not more than 5 minutes later I was walking out with the Aero Atlas bongle nut. Thank you Caleb. I have never been to an indoor range outside of CA and this place blew them all away. I read mixed reviews but being a visitor, I thought they might give us some crap since we were a mexican, korean, and Filipino in a place filled with little diversity. But I found that EVERY single employee, and even the shoppers were all kind, loved to talk about guns, and had this feeling of a brotherhood for having a common interest.
