I'm honestly very surprised at all of the 1 star, negative reviews of this wonderful vet office. It saddens me. Maybe things have changed because for us this place has been God sent. We have been taking our 2 year old Dachshund, Bowie, here since he was 9 months old. Bowie is mine and my partners first dog together, first puppy we have raised together, & he is quite literally our child. He gets so excited to see the girls in the front every time we go, they treat him like he's royalty and I love it haha. Dr. Jose Choy is very upfront and honest about what needs to be done and how much the cost will be. He also offers to send prescriptions to Chewy to lower some of the costs. Sure, English isn't his first language (I saw that mentioned in a lot of the other reviews for some odd reason) but any time I don't understand something I just ask and he is more than happy to reiterate! In Bowie's first year of life he had a few medical issues, puppy mange, ear infections, etc. Our first encounter with Spring Animal Hospital was because his neuter went terribly wrong at another LB Pet Clinic (NOT spring animal hospital) & he had gotten an infection in his incision site. Dr Choy recommended surgery to remove the infection as it had caused a tiny cyst to form. The surgery went so well, they kept us informed every hour, Bowie healed beautifully and there really isn't even a scar on his belly from it! Since then, Bowie has thrived in their care. He goes monthly for his nail trims, anal gland expression, and allergy shot. I know if I ever have any questions they are there to help and answer. They are fairly priced as well & don't have any hidden fees. They create care plans and follow them to the T. They walk you through each medication, side effects to watch out for, etc. They also accept Care Credit & United Pet Care discounts. They are very clean. They also offer little perks like if your pet is chosen for "Pet of the Month" then you get a free nail trim! One time they expressed his anal glands after I had changed my mind and decided I didn't want them done, and they didn't charge me for the service. I could go on and on forever about this vet office. They truly care and have made owning our first dog a breeze and make us feel safe! Bowie loves you guys!

No stars. I took my Cooper there a month ago... they said things looked great with him... the visiting vet forgot to tell me he has diabetes... and my dog died a month later.....

Maybe rabies? The receptionist can tell over the phone... right?

I've brought my cat to Spring St. Animal Hospital twice. The vet is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable and I could tell he loves animals. My cat Java really liked him. However, the office staff is horrifying. Today, i called to make an appointment because my cat has an "owie" on his nose that's not getting better. It's red and a bitnslimey, and I think it's not getting better because he sits on my back patio and flies sit on his sore nose when I'm not there. However, the girl on the phone said it was staph and that they don't take cats with staff. And then she put me on lengthy holds several times. When they picked up they said " this is the cat with staph?" I said " I don't know. You haven't seen her." They kept putting me on hold and saying they didn't take sick animals. I said "your a pet hospital." They also kept saying they could refer me to a place that would take Java. But they kept talking and making excuses and never gave me a referral. I finally started swearing at them every time they put me on hold. How dare the office staff make d8agnoses over the phone, and then neglect to g8ve me a number whomwpuld help my cat since they refused. Plus putting me on hold 5x for 10 and 15 minutes, just to say the same damn thing and not g8ve me a referral. Apparently, Sprng Animal Hospital office staff thinks they can diagnose and refuse service based on their phone diagnoses-- because they say " don't treat sick animals." Yeah, I swore like a sailor the third time i heard that after being put on extended holds 4x. And my cat doesn't have a fever, has energy, appetite, etc. He just has an owie on his nose that they want to diagnose as staph without seeing it. I could take my cat to Staples and get better treatment...from office staff. Totally hurtful and frustrating. Totally unprofessional...from the extended repeated hold times, to the recpetionist's phone.diagnosis (passed forward to other office staff) to the refusals to take an appointment or make a referral...to the endless wierd excuses without respect or concern for the pet's well being. At one pint, before I started swearing, I asked if they had any ethics...and they said they didn't need to. I asked to speak to the vet himself, since he was sworn to ethics when he graduated from vet schoool, and they said he wasn't there. And I have Pet Assure and Care Credit. But unlike the office staff at Spring Animal Hospital, I can't diagnose my cat because I'm just a college professor. And I guess we live in an era where a Pet Hospital doesn't treat sick pets??? She said it--not me. Oh: *%&#@!$ We won't be back and I will pass along MY diagnosis of the Spring St. Animal Hospital: an unprofessional and horrifying experience with the office staff. My cat and my money (and my friends and coworkers) will be staying very very far away.

She's going to be 2 this year!

The hospital has changed ownership but all staff is the same including the doctor. You are able to go inside and no longer wait in your car for your pup. If you are getting next guard from chewy.com - you will need an annual exam to send you the flea meds. I was able to book my two girls next day easily

My dog gunner went missing, was found by some wonderful people, and taken to Spring Animal Hospital. They went absolutely above and beyond in their care for Gunner. I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for taking care of him as if he were your own.

My poor guy had a rough time today.

This place is the absolute worst! I'm taking the time for this long review in hopes that other people save themselves the trouble of trying this place out. Take your pets elsewhere! Let's list the multitude of issues I experienced: 1. My initial visit, I made an appointment a month ahead of time and took time off of work. I arrive and when they said the doctor left for the day. Why didn't they call me? They said the receptionist did not take down my phone number, when I deliberately remember giving my phone number when I made the appointment. 2. My partner brings our dogs a week later. I couldn't come because I already used my PTO the week prior. Everything goes fine. They received all our documents from our previous vet including immunization history. We get a quote for deep teeth cleaning. They let us know to make an appointment when ready. Cool. 3. Made an appointment a month ahead again because I had to coordinate to get time off of work. I come for the deep teeth cleaning and immunization updates and they tell me I can't get seen for the cleaning because the receptionist did not schedule us correctly. Furthermore they said they don't have my records from previous immunizations so they may not be able to give the vaccines. If this is so, then why did I get a postcard in the mail telling me it's time to schedule their vaccine updates?! I express my dissatisfaction and one of the receptionists talks to me like I'm inconveniencing her. Lucky for her, there's another receptionist that had a better sense of customer service apologized for the disorganization and the inconvenience they caused. I pull up my pets' records on my phone and email them to the clinic. My dogs get their vaccines. 4. Before I leave I try scheduling the deep teeth cleaning appointment. They shuffle through their computer system and their paper charts and tell me I haven't been given a quote so I will need to schedule a physical to get a quote then I can schedule the deep cleaning. I show them the document they gave us with the quote we received when we took the dogs the previous time for their physicals. So now they tell me that quote expired one week after it was given and that I would have to go through the entire process again. I asked them if that was the case, how was I given the appointment on this day in the first place? They go back and speak to the vet and say they could waive the repeat physical and schedule directly for the teeth cleaning, but next time I have to know better and schedule the cleaning within one week of the physical. How about next time make that clear since this is YOUR policy? I don't work here. I schedule another month in advanced because it's not easy for me to get approved for PTO. 5. Today I took my dog that needed the teeth cleaning. I followed their directions and made sure to stop all food and drinks after 9pm the night before. I also make sure my dog empties his bowel and bladder prior to taking him in. Things go fine until it's time for me to pick him up. I'm in the lobby waiting for them to bring my dog out and I hear whimpering on the other side of the door. I'm getting a bad feeling. That's when the tech comes out with a snooty attitude and tells me verbatim "Your dog has been throwing up because YOU did not listen and gave him food after his cutoff time." Excuse me? I respond that that was a false claim because I followed EXACTLY their instructions. What she does not realize is that I'm a registered nurse that used to work night shift on a medical surgical unit and had to tell humans they couldn't have even a sip of water or one cracker despite how hungry or thirsty they were because we are prepping them for surgery the next day. Rather than this unprofessional approach, this tech should have come out and asked me what time I cut off his intake last night, so that we can come to the conclusion that my poor guy just did not tolerate anesthesia well. She insisted that he was sick because his owners couldn't follow directions. I wanted to school her that nausea and vomiting are a common side effect of anesthesia, but I could tell that there would be no getting through to her. All in all, this clinic is ridiculously unprofessional. They are disorganized and the culture is to place blame on their customers rather than take accountability for their mistakes, or to simply accept the nature of the treatments given. The only reasons we kept coming back were because it is the closest location that takes our pet insurance, and that we were really trying to give them a chance. We wanted to say we initially experienced them while they were not on top of their game...but the consensus is that this is their actual standard of practice. I am so sad we put our babies under their care. Luckily neither of my dogs were harmed. There are plenty other veterinarians and we're willing to drive further out to avoid this place. I suggest you do the same.

Unfortunately, our experience was marked by significant delays, poor communication, and a lack of follow-up throughout her care. During our first visit as a walk-in, Barbara was seen fairly quickly. On the second visit, we again came as a walk-in and waited over eight hours. While we understand that emergency cases take priority and that the hospital was reportedly short-staffed, we were told it was okay to leave Barbara there and that a doctor would call us with updates. Hours passed without any communication. By 9:00 PM, having received no call, we returned to the hospital only to find that she still had not been seen. She was eventually evaluated late that night and prescribed another course of antibiotics, this time for two weeks, with plans for an ultrasound to rule out stones or other causes. The following week, Barbara had a scheduled ultrasound appointment. We dropped her off at 9:00 AM, but the ultrasound was not completed until approximately 5:00 PM. Afterward, we were instructed to obtain a repeat urine culture before finishing her antibiotic course. We were specifically told that this would be performed by a veterinary technician and would not require a veterinarian evaluation, which would incur an additional fee. When we arrived for the urine culture, the front desk informed us that no such appointment existed and that Barbara would need to be seen by a veterinarian to obtain the sample. This directly contradicted what we had been told previously. Only after asking staff to review the notes from our prior visit, which clearly documented the plan for a technician-only urine culture was the issue resolved. This unnecessary confusion delayed her care plan. After the urine sample was collected, we were told the culture results would be available within five days and that a doctor would contact us. Seven days passed with no communication. We called the office and were told a message would be sent to the doctor and that we would receive a call the next day. Again, nobody followed up. Several more days later, we called back and spent 45 minutes on hold trying to get clarification. Eventually, Dr. Budzinski spoke with us and informed us that the urine culture was negative. Had we been notified promptly, we could have avoided continuing unnecessary antibiotics. The most disappointing aspect of this experience was the lack of communication and follow-through. Throughout the entire process, there was little effort by the medical team to keep us informed about our dog's care, test results, or treatment plan. When we expressed our concerns, there was no meaningful acknowledgment or apology. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility and will not be returning.

They ran urine and blood tests as well as x-rays. Her urine and blood results came out normal so she may have just had an infection that went away. However, they noticed a metal bottle cap in her stomach! Ocean often eats random things off the ground but she wouldn't have eaten a bottle cap unless it was in some food! Regardless, they tried a method and thought she would be able to pass it in the next couple of days. Well, a whole week passed and it didn't. So, we took her back and they needed to surgically remove it. The procedure seemed to go smoothly. We picked her up at the end of the day and she was still out of it, but relieved to come home and was able to drink and eat. We gave her medications as prescribed. The incision was about 9 inches across Ocean's belly. We did our best to keep it covered, but she did scratch it a bit. At her follow up appointment, they removed the sutures and provided antibiotics and a solution to keep it clean. At her third follow up, they provided antibiotics and ointment for the redness, but she healed pretty well in a matter of weeks. They said going through the esophagus would have damaged it, so this was the best approach to getting the bottle cap out. As a souvenir, they gave us the cap in a ziplock bag and we could see that it was starting to rust. They were great about calling and checking up on her and they did an excellent job stitching her back up. They gave us an estimate range of the cost prior to the procedure and luckily, it was on the lower end, but still a dent in our wallets. Ocean was a champ through this healing process despite not knowing what had even happened to her! Thanks again to the team here for helping Ocean out!

Our regular vet initially gave antibiotics and medication, and he said if it happens again, we should take her to the hospital for more test as he was thinking there was something in her bladder like stones. When the symptoms returned a week later, we knew we had to take her to the hospital. Since our usual clinic doesn't offer urgent care, we searched and found this hospital on Google. They were able to see us the same day. The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming, and even though the place is currently remodeling, everything still felt organized and efficient. They performed an X-ray, blood test and urinalysis, found a bladder stone, and clearly explained the situation and treatment options. Because the stone was too large to pass naturally, surgery was recommended. They walked us through the procedure, provided a clear estimate, and scheduled surgery for the very next day. The entire visit took about 3 hours, and we felt our dog was in very good hands the whole time. She is now on the road to recovery, and we're so grateful for the care she received. We also appreciate that this hospital is closer to home -- we've definitely found our new vet. Thank you to the whole team for taking such good care of our girl.

Thank you for reaching out and listening to our concerns. I would like to sincerely thanks Ambassador and their sister location, All American Animal for showing compassion during our recent visit on 02/24/2026. We are long-time patients of this clinic and have always trusted the team with our dogs' care, which is why we continue to come here whenever our pets are not feeling well. We brought Kino in because he was experiencing excessive itchiness, redness, vomiting, and was clearly in discomfort. Despite the office being very busy, we truly appreciated the time that Dr. Meina took to see him and make sure he received the treatment he needed. From the moment we were brought in, he listened attentively as I explained Kino's symptoms and concerns. It meant so much to feel heard and understood, especially when your pet is clearly not feeling well and in distress. Dr. Meina took the time to thoroughly assess Kino's condition and explain the available treatment options, ensuring we felt comfortable and informed with the plan of care. His patience, professionalism, and compassion helped make an already stressful situation much easier for both us and our dog. I would also like to thank Marisol, the manager, who reached out after we addressed our concerns and helped refer us to their sister clinic's urgent care so that Kino could receive the care he needed as soon as possible. Despite some initial misunderstanding, the office took the time to listen to our concerns and worked with us to find a way to assist in getting Kino the care he needed. That level of communication and willingness to help truly made a difference. Veterinarians and their teams play such an important role in relieving pain, managing illness, and ensuring our pets are comfortable and safe. We love this clinic and appreciate the dedication the staff shows to their patients and families. Thank you again to Dr. Meina and Marisol for taking the time to listen, support us, and make sure Kino received the care he needed.

I was told we'd receive the results within a few days, but I never got a call and had to repeatedly follow up myself. When I finally spoke with the doctor nearly a month later, he seemed to think we had already discussed the results. I had to remind him that we had only talked about the initial findings and that the entire reason I paid for the additional review was because he recommended it. I also requested my cat's medical records and was told they would be emailed to me, but they never were. The staff were always friendly and professional, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. My concern was never the friendliness of the team, but the lack of communication and follow-through. Had the findings been more serious, the delay in follow-up could have had much greater consequences. At the end of the day, I'd rather have prompt communication than have to repeatedly chase down results while worried about my pet's health. Time for a new vet.
