I've been here a few times, but my latest experience has me looking for a different vet. I brought my senior cat in for a cough and completed the testing the doctor recommended, including a $300 second-opinion review after he noticed something that he felt needed further evaluation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told we'd receive the results within a few days, but I never got a call and had to repeatedly follow up myself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I finally spoke with the doctor nearly a month later, he seemed to think we had already discussed the results.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to remind him that we had only talked about the initial findings and that the entire reason I paid for the additional review was because he recommended it. Let me preface, I have been taking my dogs here for years. But as of late the quality of care has really plummeted. I took my dogs for an annual check up and blood draw to get their teeth cleaned on a Friday. The doc don't remember which one states "oh we can do the labs today and you can bring the Monday for the cleaning" I decide not to schedule the cleaning, because the quote they gave me was egregious, 1500 each dog lol. But of course that wasn't given until after they already taken my dogs to do the blood work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Monday rolls around, no call about the results, co i have to call. Tuesday, same thing, no call. I call no call back. My sweet boy had been sick for three weeks by the time we came to this vet (as its further away from us) but after going to a different vet who overcharged us without giving us an actual diagnosis, we came here; where he was diagnosed with spleen cancer. This is an update to my review that I wrote yesterday. I like to express my sincere overall thanks to the staff and ambassador Long Beach veterinary hospital for their great care of my Seeing Eye dog Merlin. There are thorough treatment of him was outstanding and I definitely know I'll be back plus I'll be bringing my cat Skipper to this veterinarian. The one thing you should know is they have separate entrances for cats and for dogs. That's nice, especially if your cat is easily stressed or your dog is easily stressed around cats. I wrote in my review that some misunderstandings occurred when they told me that I could not wait inside and that I had to wait outside. Because I take a special transportation service and they wouldn't be here until two hours after my appointment. I want to let anyone who reads the snow that this was handled And it was just a misunderstanding. I can honestly say I have been too many veterinarians. But this one overall is one of the most thorough I have been to. The staff is overall friendly. And the vet called me today to check on Merlin to see how he's doing. They also have a groomer on site that grooms pets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would definitely recommend this business and definitely will be back. read more

I'm on the fence and always have been with this place. The parking can be difficult at times, the front desk people have recently been on their 'A' game (which isn't always the case). People are very nice here but your experience is all about the doctor you get. Unfortunately it's a different vet almost every time, while most of them have been great to work with, not all are created equal. Dr. Black has been very good to me and my pups, I've had a handful of others as well, but I don't believe they work there anymore. They're usually very busy and for the most part don't try to rip you off. Again..... mostly depends on who you get. I've been going here for at least 15 years, I trust them enough to keep coming back. I've seen my pups thru dental cleanings/ extractions, mange, lesions, upset stomach, Cushings Disease and taking care of a pup that passed away. I've been to other vets and I always feel like they want to run as many tests as possible for ridiculous things. Here, I'm a lot more comfortable and don't feel pressured to do things I don't want to do. Anytime I needed them to fix up my pups, they've done a great job of it. Pro Tip: if you need medicine for your dog, I suggest getting a prescription and purchasing from Costco, Chewy or some other company. (This is of course as long as it's not an emergency) it's a lot more affordable going outside of the vet office. read more

My dog was a patient of Mercy Animal Hospital which is now closed and found out Ambassador is taking their patients. My chihuahua needed her rabies shots and she always has a reaction from shots so I was very concerned. The staff at Ambassador listened to my concerns. My fur baby had her checkup and was informed how the shots would be administered along with one for allergies. I was so very pleased how they handled it and it eased my mind. Dr. Mark Mcdaniel wanted to neuter my senior dog becuase he claimed that was the solution to a lump my dog had so I went to another clinic to get a second opinion & it turned out to be that my dog has a tumor & needs surgery to remove it. Very professional and caring staff. Dr. Mina has been treating my dog for chronic skin issues. He has always been very caring and attentive. I've had a vet who made my dog seem like a hopeless case but Dr. Mina is the opposite. He's always eager and hopeful we are on the path towards my dogs full recovery. I also appreciate that he is also patient with me to answer all my concerns while still maintains professionalism and compassion. Got here my accident. Staffs were very friendly. We brought our rabbit here yesterday for gender reveal and fleas problem. The only comment I have was how the rabbit was handled. My daughter was stunned on how they picked up her rabbit; it was not as gentle as she expected. She was in shock. But, we explained to her that probably the veterinarian was busy. Paid $79 for a less than 3 min visit. But, overall, the fact that they can see exotic animals is a plus. We will be back again. Enough parking for everyone. read more

The front desk and vet techs have sometimes been a bit short in what's already an uncomfortable time for a pet parent however I'm also aware that this can't be an easy job. My dog is being treated for a severe ear infection and boarding while I'm out of town. He's an 85 pound pitty. He was happy and calm when he came home from his first treatment and boarding in October.
