Tried to go through website for a homeowners quote. Initially Jordan called me, I returned the call no answer. A week later I tried again, this time Tom emailed me needing more information. I answered his questions...no response. One week later I tried again on website. Again, website took me nowhere. Jordan phoned again, I answered all of her questions. Asked her to follow up as Tom didn't. 4 days now and still no response. Not only does their website not work, but the agents don't seem to work either. TL;DR Tom Cooper got mad that I changed providers and got angrier after I told him why, even though he asked. All words exchanged through email because no one in their office knows how to pick up a phone. Oh man, I did not want to write this - really - but Tom Cooper decided to continue a pointless exchange in why I decided to move onto Progressive Direct. SGI has provided me with insurance for about a year and half and it had been mostly pleasant until I finance a car on a Saturday. My policy needed adjustment but SGI was closed that day. I went through a different brokerage and agreed to the ~$400 premium just so I can drive the car off the lot, figuring I can change it Monday when SGI's office is open. I left a phone message and waited for their call till about 8:30 that Monday morning - nothing. So I sent an email and reached out to Tom. He asked me one questions and passed me along to a different agent. She tried again to find a better premium but only reduced it to ~$300/mo. I still was not satisfied so I looked around for a good quote and got one for about $160/mo - not bad right. So instead of immediately hopping onto this quote, I told the agent Tom passed me to what I found. I feel that this was a reasonable way to give SGI a chance to retain my business. The agent told me she would get back to me by the end of the day. She didn't. So by that evening, after their office had closed, I decided to go with the better quote and cancel my policy with SGI. THIS WAS TWO DAYS LATER! The process of changing to the best premium took about 20 minutes over the phone. Wednesday evening comes around and TOM COOPER wanted to know why "blah blah, we were working on it, blah blah". So I told him why I changed providers and he tries to clap back about what he and his office did or didn't do, but it was too late. I got a great rate without this office. I was contacted by Spring Grove Insurance through a direct mail piece. They were claiming unheard of savings that I knew were a bait and switch tactic, but I was having issues with my insurance provider, so I reached out for a quote. I spoke with Tom Cooper and he confessed that the savings mentioned in their direct mail piece were not realistic. My biggest mistake was continuing with a lying sales person after he confessed that the mailer was BS. The quotes came back from a company I've never heard of called National General Insurance, a.k.a. NatGen Premier. The quotes were compelling, but I had to investigate this company for myself. I found a site that had a ton of negative reviews on this company. 99% of the negative reviews had to do with policy cancellations that occurred after home inspections. I've never had a home inspection completed for home owners insurance prior to this, so I brought up all the negative reviews and cancellations with Tom Cooper. He assured me I had nothing to be concerned about......more BS!!! 2 months after switching over, and I received a cancellation letter today! The reason stated in the letter.... I am redoing my deck (approximately 1,000 sq. ft.), and had a work permit in the window of my front door when the inspector came to my home. They're giving me less than a month to get the job completed or my policy is cancelled. Guess who is getting cancelled? Tom Cooper (full of you know what); Spring Grove Insurance and their NatGen Premium partners in crime. WOW! We have never been treated this way before at an insurance agency! After getting a $643 increase at policy renewal we asked Spring Grove Insurance, our current agent, to get new quotes and also contacted another agent in town. After getting a much lower quote from another agent, we went back to Spring Grove Insurance and asked them to flat cancel our policy; meaning to not renew it but stop coverage at the end of the existing policy period. Spring Grove Insurance owner, Tom Cooper, berated us for dropping him and cancelled our current policy three weeks before it was too expire.
