This is for my experience TOURING the apartments ONLY. Mayra is amazing and really helpful. There was a lot of back and forth and she was so patient with me, showing me 4 different units. Ultimately, I found one I couldn't pass up with a different complex. The location of these is great across from Howarth Park and I wanted to be in one of these units that I was patiently waited two weeks for a unit to be ready. The only reason I didn't was because I found a different unit right down the street with an additional bedroom for the same price. I want to Thank Mayra, our Community Manager for her prompt assistance in calling a plumber within an hour of our call to her, and for the further assistance she gave the plumbers to get our plumbing unplugged. I am not aware of the plumbing routes to this complex, but you and Will, our maintenance person were! You both helped the plumbers figure things out. My husband and I and our son moved here about 5 months ago. We've been living in big cities and Santa Rosa in general and this apartment is exactly the suburban living we've been needing! I love our apartment so much!! We are in a 2 bed 2 bath townhouse and we couldn't be happier. It's completely updated which I love. My favorite part is the kitchen as I love to cook. The backyard has been an added bonus as our son and our dog love being out there. I love being across the street from the park and all the nature trails. I also love how close we are to our son's school and the neighborhood is amazing for walks and just so calming when you want fresh air. We haven't been able to trick or treat in an actual neighborhood in years and last year (24') being here and being so close to other neighborhoods made it so fun for us. I just love it and truly never want to move ever again. We've definitely found our new forever city! read more

My first review was while I was living here and being asked by management to write a review. At the time, I was fighting to get a reimbursement for costs that we incurred while our bathroom was fixed after finding black mold under the floor. I felt pressured into writing a review or I may face more fights for what we were owed. Here is the simple answer about Spring Lake Apartments. It's a horrible place to live. Run by Sequoia Equities, this company couldn't care less about the tenants. When we moved in, it was going to be temporary as we looked for a house. The rise in the cost of living in the area though prevented us from moving and we ended up living here for 7 years. It was the worst 7 years of our lives. The last 5 of those 7 years our unit was plagued by an ant problem. After a tree was removed in the yard of a unit two doors down, an ant colony living in the tree moved down the units to our place. For 5 years we submitted Maintanance requests for the ants. Right when the pest control company servicing the apartments figured out the problem and found the right treatment for the type of ant, the pest control company changed. So, the treatment went back to the wrong treatment and the ants returned. This wasn't just an ant line every now and then. This was a colony living in the walls of our unit. If the ants were treated in one part of the unit, the ants would move and appear in a whole new area of the unit. There is a rat problem as well here. They were living in our walls and ceiling. One actually got into the wiring of our stove and died after chewing the wires. We started smelling the dead rat and having giant flies in the unit. We would cook and the smell would only get worse. Then maintenance found the dead rat. They didn't replace the stove that stank to high heaven like a dead rat. They just cleaned the dead rat up and called it good. Apparently we were expected to keep cooking in a stove that a rat died and decomposed in. We dealt with all kinds of horrible management while living here. The property managers change so often it seems they sign a one year lease themselves to manage the place. Nothing gets fixed right either. The management is so keen to come in under budget and get their bonus that it's nearly impossible to get something repaired the correct way. My back screen for example on my bedroom window was replaced. The maintenance manager at the time cut the frame the wrong size. It was about a quarter inch short on the top and bottom. Now, a normal maintenance manager or handyman even would fix that. Re cut the frame again to the correct size so it sits in the window frame and doesn't fall out. Not here. He simply found a rusty nail on the ground that was bent and wedged it between the window frame and the screen frame. Then proceeded to spread caulking in the gap till it was spilling out of the frame. After 7 years we finally had enough when after one maintenance manager (who was the only one in 7 years that fixed things right) came out to fix our fridge that we had been having issues with for 6 years. He decided the fridge, as old as it was and the history we'd had with it, was due to be replaced. So he submitted a ticket for a fridge and told me it would be overnighted and in the unit by Monday. Turns out, the manager fired him and canceled the ticket. However, when this was done no one called me. I was left in the dark till almost a week later. The manager then sent out a different Maintanance person who downplayed the problem and said the fridge coils just needed to be cleaned. Cheapest fix, remember? I emailed sequoia themselves regarding this. Now, after me raising a stink about it all, they finally replaced the fridge, but this was basically the straw that broke the camels back for us. We were saving to try to buy a home, but we just wanted out. We used our savings to find a new place to rent. Since moving from here, our anxiety levels have gone down to almost nothing. Living here was a constant stress that we just had to live with. They say "you're experience matters" at spring lake apartments. It doesn't. If you want a good living experience, live elsewhere. The rent here is ridiculous. Everything is outdated and or broken. We are now renting a 3 bedroom house about 10 minutes away from the apartments for less than they charge for their 3 bedroom apartments. They say they adjust the rent based on the cost of living in the area. The problem is though, they are looking at rent for single family homes, not multi family. It's good to be away from here. read more

My brother and his labrador were relocating from Maine so we were charged with helping him find a new place to live. He's the outdoorsy type, so we wanted to find him something near Spring Lake that would take his big dog. After touring several of the complexes in the area, we chose Spring Lake Apartments. What a pleasure! Ashley was extremely helpful, and eased our minds about the hassle of doing an out-of-state move. She explained all about their online leasing and offered to reach out to my brother directly so I wouldn't have to be the middle man. He works a lot so I frequently had to ask questions for him. Ashley responded to all my emails so quickly and courteously and when my brother arrived with his dog and a car full of his belongings, he was moved in and getting settled in all of 15 minutes! The apartment itself is really big, something like 900 square feet (the biggest one bedroom apartment I'VE ever seen!) and was in great shape when he moved in. And he loves living so close to the lake. I'd definitely recommend Spring Lake Apartments to anyone looking for a great place to live. read more

Anytime I have a service issue it's fixed faster than I ever imagined. The manager is great at communicating what's happening and explaining any changes taking place. We have fun activities and the pool area is wonderful place to hang out. With Howarth Park and Spring Lake across the street, it's the best place to live in Santa Rosa! **Update~I have to take back some of my comments. I just received my renewal and my rent is going up 10%. I'm not sure about you, but my salary does not go up 10% each year, neither does the cost of living. There is no loyalty to current residents who have lived here and paid their rent on time, every time. Their renewal prices are pricing out good renters. The corporate office only cares about profits, very sad. I feel very betrayed. I guess if you can afford to live here you will like it but be prepared to be priced out so they can move in new renters and charge higher rents :-(. read more

My husband and I and our 80 pound dog have lived at Spring Lake for a year-and-a-half and cannot say enough nice things about it. Ashlee, Carlos, and Tiffany have responded quickly and courteously to every request we've had, and the location (across the street from miles of hiking/biking, swimming, etc., two blocks from a great movie theater and the fabulous East/West restaurant) cannot be beat. The rooms are really spacious -- we downsized from a 2800 sf house to a 1200 sf apartment and yet have never felt cramped. Our particular unit is in the middle of a block, so it is relatively private and quite, and get lots of light. Our carport is conveniently located and there is ample street parking for our second car. My only complaint was that it took me six months to figure out that our particular laundry room doesn't have hot water (gross!), though other nearby laundry rooms do. This was a temporary location for us, so we now have to move on, but we are honestly going to miss this place -- quite a surprise for someone who never ever wanted to live in apartment complex! Spring Lake is definitely worth a look. read more

From the misleading advertising online, to the domestic violence drug dealers as neighbors,to the laundry never working & when it does it steals your money, not to mention moving into an apartment with urine left at the bottom of the toilet and cat hair all over the carpet!!! And the grand finally.. After leaving the apartment cleaner than it was when we moved in, they screwed us out if the deposit!!! DONT LIVE HERE!! I lived there almost five years before my family and I were forced out. Carlos is a wonderful maintenance man. The apartment we had was mice, except the cabinets were old. The knobs kept falling off. The kitchen drawer runners kept coming off, even after Carlos fixed it. The appliances were old and the carpet had stains when we moved in. Mimi is the third manager we had in the years we were there. The owners broke our lease so that they could renovate the property and rent it for a higher price (from $1601.50 to $2198.00). The property was supposed to be smoke free, but the neighbors across from us would go out on their balcony at all hours to smoke cigarettes. read more

I went to look at an apartment here and the beautifully renovated units surprised me. They were spacious, modern and they accept pets! The townhomes give you enough space between neighbors for a bit of privacy too. Sevil showed me two units and was super helpful and friendly! I loved one of the units. It was gorgeous. These are really nice places worth checking out and they're across from a huge park. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

I have lived at Spring Lake Apartments for 4 years now and have enjoyed living here. I love how quick the staff is to address issues regardless what they are about. The property managers have been attentive and kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I have never had any issues with the maintenance of my townhouse. Whenever there is an issue with plumbing, windows, doors, lights etc they are on it! I have owned my own house before and so I know how to do basic care and maintenance, but the heavy lifting I leave for them and they never fail! My family and friends are often jealous that we get to live so close to the park and ours dogs love the area too. I love that we can have our 2 dogs and that our neighbors have animals too. I truly enjoy living here and hopefully will be staying several more years! read more

This apartment complex is amazing. Everything in my apartment had been renovated from top to bottom. The appliances are awesome, I don't think I've ever had a better dishwasher in my life. The management is so helpful, Mimi is always quick to reply if there is ever an issue and Carlos does a great job at maintaining the property. Everyone in our household... Even the four legged one that meows, LOVES our new home at Spring Lake. Carly is fantastic and a pleasure to work with. Moving up to the area from the central coast we weren't sure what we were looking at in what we could get for our budget and somehow we ended up in a spacious townhouse that is perfect for us. I lived in spring lake apartments and give it the worst rating I can. The management are untruthful they ignore the law and have still not returned my security deposit despite giving me stories and assurances that it was in the mail. They deducted extraordinary amounts from what I was to have returned for common wear and tear items, and every chance they had would increase the rent. They have loud tenants and it was not uncommon to see the police dispatched on domestic violence calls and the park aacross the street is filled with homeless people that sit around drinking 4loco and seem always on the brink of violence. Do not rent from these people they don't care about anything but conning you into renting and then you are irrelivent. read more
