Under the present, astute, savvy, thoughtful direction of Linda Hiles, Executive Director, Spring Senior Assisted Living has been transformed into a senior home that is far more pleasant with better coördinated, integrated services than before her arrival where directors came and left like a game of musical chairs. Due to declining health of a relative, I have had more interaction with the staff and found them to be responsive, caring, empathetic, friendly. Sometimes the cleaning staff does unwittingly throw away esoteric, specialty food given by friends & relatives to my resident relative since the staff is not sure of its shelf lIfe, but the complaint by my relative's earlier claims of missing personal items possibly by staff members now seem to be unsubstantiated. Overall, Spring presently is a desirable assisted living home. The residents are from middle class backgrounds so there is an air of civility and dignity. The facilities are clean with a comfortable "living room" for residents to gather for directed activities & occasional entertainment. My past review and others' reviews were not as complimentary, but under Linda Hiles and the amenable staff, I feel Spring would be good to look into for an assisted living situation. Very caring staff clean facility seem like a very homey environment and quality of care is a five out of five. Had my aunt in this facility for several months and the staff is very good with supporting her and encouraging her. After I broke my hip, I really had nowhere to stay. My son found this facility. He said I would like it and I certainly did! Linda, the director was great. She wheeled me all over the facility and introduced me to many, many residents. The entire staff was wonderful, not just to me but to all the residents. Our activities director, Frenchie, made sure we had plenty to do - from morning exercises, to making sure that the residents with heart problems got exercise also. She would plan outings, movie trips and since it was around Christmas, go thru candy cane lane. I was there approximately 3 months, made some good friends and if something ever happens to me, I'd love to stay there again. read more

We placed my father in Spring Senior assisted living back in November 2018 on a recommendation from another friend who had his mother in the facility. My Dad is 94 years old, walks with a cane and pretty much has his full faculty of brain cells. It took a bit of convincing, but when his home sold quickly he didn't have much choice. I'm realizing what a blessing Spring has been to my Dad, as well as, to me and my siblings. It's not easy to make this decision but my Dad can't say enough about how great Linda and her staff is. Very attentive, warm and encouraging. This has definitely made this process easy for all of us involved. My Dad participates in exercises, various outings to include eating out, Target runs and gambling (a little) at Pachanga. Linda has a great team and my family knows this was the right decision. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Spring! The home itself is warm and welcoming and very clean, and they are navigating the Covid pandemic very professionally and carefully with the health of residents and staff as a priority. This care home seems to me to be the perfect size: big enough to have activities and diversity of residents, but not so big to be impersonal and sterile. My elder is so much healthier and happier here than he was living alone. I think that anyone in the area who has concerns about a transition of a loved one into assisted living would be wise to take a look at Spring as it is a great example of how that can be a very positive change. 5 stars! read more

The experience at Spring for our family member was exceptional under the administration of Linda Hiles. Her background in Physical Therapy and rehabilitation made a world of difference with the care and safety of residents. Compassionate staff outweighed a few architectural barriers like the 1 wheelchair size elevator. Cost is very reasonable and there aren't hidden costs like other facilities that charge extra for medication management or bathing assistance. Meaningful activities were provided by Frenchie and Fatima. Our family member loved the many eating options close by especially her favorite, Black Angus. Cassey, Chrisie, Ron, and other caregivers provided care with humor and friendly banter. Deliza expertly provided medical and nursing intervention with companion and empathy. As with any facility, family member presence is alway recommended. Keep on top of medication refills. Be aware of discussions brought up by the resident council meetings. Bring up any discrepancies observed; at this facility, feedback is welcomed and addressed. Our family member thrived at this facility instead of being home alone, made great friends and enjoyed the dorm-like atmosphere for seniors. We have made recommendations of this facility to others. As someone who has cared for several older adults, I have visited many care facilities in the South Bay as well as Palm Springs and the San Francisco area. I know what to expect when I enter one, and it's often not a pleasant experience. When a friend of mine entered Spring Assisted Living in the Fall of 2017, I steeled myself for my first visit. Upon entering, I could immediately tell that this facility was different. Spring works very hard to keep the place clean. It is homey, pleasant, well-decorated, and absent of any "hospital odor." I observed that the residents were nicely dressed and in clean clothes, and that the beds were made in each room. Often when I arrived, games and sing-alongs would be happening in the front room. But what really makes Spring a cut above is the staff. I have never seen a more dedicated and consistent group of people. No matter what day or time I visit, a staff member has greeted me. When they interact with residents, they are respectful and very patient. A lovely staff member, Frenchie, manages many of the activities, and her fun-loving personality makes all the residents feel welcome, The executive director, Linda Hiles, is really a great asset to this home. I know that her door is always open if I have any questions or concerns. When my friend was recently hospitalized, two of the staff members came to visit him, and then visited again when he was transferred to another facility. This was after they had already worked their day at Spring....I was truly impressed and thankful, and it made such a difference to my friend. To say that Spring has "gotten it right," would be very accurate. I am so thankful my friend has a real home here! read more

Okay for independent person. Facility has two floors and clean. Second floor can be reached via elevator. Resident rooms are nice and clean. Dinning, and recreation/ television room is located on the first floor. Food is decent. Volunteers provide group exercise, entertainment, etc. The staff is not good. They could not follow doctor's hand written directions and forgot resident doctor's appointment even when given appointment card and jotting down information on calendar. Transportation to medical appointment stopped for no reason. Meals are placed on table in resident's room if resident is unable to go to dinning room and resident left to fend for him/her self. I gave this center one star because it was nicely decorated, clean and food is decent. Quality of care is poor. read more

My 84 yo father recently moved from his home near Seattle into Spring Senior Assisted Living in Torrance and despite both his and my apprehension is thriving and truly enjoying his new home. I think this has everything to do with the staff and especially the director Linda Hiles. From day one (and even on initially visiting to see the facility) both Linda and the staff were warm and friendly and made us feel welcomed (huge shout out to Casey and Ronald!). The care is efficient, professional, and clearly shows personal attention. I have been contacted whenever they have any concerns about my dad and he feels very well cared for. The only downside I can come up with is that parking at the facility is a bit tight but for all the critical aspects I have nothing but praise and am very thankful to have found this facility for my dad. read more

I'm familiar with lots of assisted living places in Southern California and elsewhere, and this one excels, maybe because it is smaller and has a more personal touch than most. Staff and residents seem happy, with not much turnover. Always clean and welcoming. Food tastes and looks good, with special holiday events that are well attended by family and friends. Our relative has been there 3-4 years, and she visibly brightens when her favorite staffers walk in the room. We are happy that she is happy and well cared for at Spring. We noticed plenty of improvements after Linda the current manager arrived, including boxes of flowering vines on balconies ,and a more organized and individualized approach to care. She is always involved, easy to reach, and has a great attitude about anything that will improve the lives of those at Spring. read more

I sleep at night knowing that my dear friend is well cared for at Spring Assisted Living! My friend has been a resident since September 2017. Spring is a smaller facility with a consistent staff. Elderly do not do well with change. I visit at different times of the day and I love that when I walk in I know the staff on duty because most have been there since he moved in a year and a half ago. They are caring, attentive and friendly. Most recently, my friend was hospitalized and the staff came to visit him and many called me deeply concerned about his well-being. I have participated in holiday events and was quite surprised by how delicious the food was. My friend says the meals are good and the kitchen staff works so hard to get everyone served. We were fortunate that soon after he moved in, Linda Hiles joined the Spring family. She works long hours and wears many hats to assure things run smoothly. A big THANKS to the Spring staff. I have a history with Spring Assisted Living as I play cards with a resident and have for as long as she's been a resident. We played cards while she was living at 2 other places...and there is no comparison. She has always received kind, compassionate, and efficient care at Spring with many opportunities for socialization and interaction. I've been so impressed with her care that I've moved my mother out here from Kansas City, and Mother is now a resident. Now, I'm even more impressed! Mother can now remember that she played gin rummy in the morning and went with the walking club one other day. I pop-in several times a week, and the caregivers encourage participation in all sorts of activities. During the holidays, for instance, the residents created the centerpieces holiday dinner. Mother went into detail with how they created them. That's pretty darned great for someone who can't remember that she took her pills 5 minutes earlier. There's been cookie decorating and then eating, memory games, gardening, root beer floats, etc. The piano concert was her favorite. And, the food's excellent. Mother is getting the care that she needs at present and giving back to the community as well. We weren't aware of how she would be with a roommate, and she enjoys it. Mother feels like she's helping her roommate, and it's just a good situation for them both. It gives them each a companion even if they don't talk much. Spring Senior Assisted Living is providing an excellent quality of life for its residents and developing them into a community. I haven't seen another assisted living residence that has this level of quality and community, and it's appreciated. read more

Today a nurse came over to asses my mother to see if she would be a good fit for this facility. After the assessment. The nurse tells my mother that the facility can take her. They even gave her a price, but in hindsight, it seemed a bit to expensive. I say that because this morning I went by to pick up a brochure just to read about it myself. The nurse quoted me close to 10.000 dollars. In my experience this would more memory care prices. So I get a text from a gentleman that's was helping me find a place for my mother, and this company works with all the facility for placement. So I get a text saying that the nurse said no to accepting my mother. Now I'm confused!!! Maybe it's a mistake?? But after speaking with my placement helper person, it' wasn't a mistake. The nurse straight out lied to my mother's face. Plus telling her all the extra amenities the facility has. I'm not sure why anyone would have go out their way to lie to a senior that's looking for a place for assistance. It really wasn't necessary. Maybe this was a sign that there would have been other lies down the line. It's appears to be nice from looking through the window. But I wouldn't trust their staff. I'm still waiting on a call from the manager. My 1 star is based on the unprofessionalism of a staff member/nurse. read more

My 89 year old mother stayed at Spring Senior Assisted Living/Genesis immediately following her release from the hospital after having total hip replacement surgery on 8/9/18. She stayed for a total of 3 weeks, and collectively as a family, we all very much appreciated our experience at Genesis. First and foremost are the people. The residents, staff and leadership all were highly engaged, cheerful, thoughtful, and helpful. Without naming names of other places, the staff from Linda the Director down to the kitchen and custodial staff all cared about the residents. There was an overall spirit for life here; while each resident has their own story, everyone we met and engaged with were most welcoming, polite, and cared for one another. I sat/attended several meals with my mother, and very much enjoyed the conversations I shared with residents and staff alike. I found the staff extremely attentive to my mother's needs for assistance whenever she needed help with mobility, food, and the dispensing of prescription medications. The place is also very warm, homey and clean. There was never any concern for finding a dirty this or that, and we very much focused on this during our research of various facilities. The Spring Assisted Living facility has been a great place for my mom. She has been at Board and Care homes and a larger facility but Soring is the right size. Not too big and not too small. The staff and caregivers are very caring and always do their best to care for my mom. It has been the best place for my mom. She even likes the food. I sat with her for lunch in the cozy dining room and I also enjoyed the lunch! I recommend Spring to anyone who is looking for senior care. read more

Spring has had a lot of directors the years my parent was there. Some were wise and caring, others were not. As my mother changed from walking to wheelchair bound the care got worse.. We found her sitting alone in the hall by the cafeteria, she disappeared from spring for a few hour and was found blocks away. Carelessness. In laundry in spite of labels led to mom wearing others bras and clothes. Good employees were let go when poor directors came.sweet helpers visited her in the hospital though. I was disappointed even though it looked nice. But all homes are like this. Very sad. read more

After dealing with the unscrupulous owners of small assisted living houses in the area, I found Spring Senior Assisted Living. The Directress, Linda Hiles and her staff are knowledgeable, helpful and most of all caring. The facility offers many amenities including outings, in house activities, relaxing spaces, good food and much more. It is clean and well maintained. However, the thing that sets Spring Assisted Living apart is the Team of staff. They are professional and well trained in providing the many different services and may be required, 24/7. Most of all they make your loved one feel cared for. My Uncle was in the Hospital last year, and Linda and members of the staff went to visit him on numerous occasions. They didn't have to. This made him feel loved and wanted. Linda routinely visits the residents throughout the day. She takes the time get to know them, find out how they are doing and what they may need. She listens and offers sound suggestions based on her years of experience. If you are looking for a place that your loved one will feel comfortable, safe and eventually call an Assisted Living Facility home, Spring is the right choice. Thank you Linda! read more

I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the Assisted Living Facility -Spring Senior Assisted Living- located in Torrance on Earl Street for the wonderful, compassionate and kind care given to my Mother for the past three years. Although there was change of managers during that time, the transition was very smoothe and seamless where we experienced no drop in optimal care. As a matter of fact, care was enhanced and was exemplary and very satisfactory. I should not fail to mention the various members of the caring team who each in their own way set a superior standard in caring. Linda, the manager there, never failed to show compassion and care for my Mother and for the members of my family who went to visit. She is a hands on manager that goes way and beyond the call of duty. While my mother was admitted to the hospital, Linda went to visit her in the ER and made sure that all my Mother's needs were taken care of. Where do you find people like that? Deliza, the nurse there, also was so caring, loving, and compassionate towards my mother. She would always go and make sure that my mother was comfortable and relaxed. Rosemary, my sweet Rosemary, with her continuous smile, always jumped at every occasion to meet our needs and requests. Chrissy, Mario, Chris, Eric and all the staff there were incredibly professional and so loving. I'm sad to say that we had to leave the facility because my Mother needed more medical attention than what the Spring facility would offer. I will miss them all with no doubt.
