Nightmare experience Went to fix low battery charge and air-conditioning problems. When picking up the car after having paid the repair, I noticed that a red warning light on the dashboard was glaringly on. Went back to discuss with the manager. He flatly said that the light was on when they first moved the car into the workshop. He hooked up the car with an electronic device and told me there were a bunch of problems, including a malfunctioning electronic thermostat. Largely the car was not safe to drive. They charged me $42 for checking. Fixing the thermostat would be a $500 plus job. Took the car home. Fining out the battery was still not charging properly a few days later. Went back to ask them to re-fix the problem they should have fixed before. The manager was not there but they could charge the battery overnight. When I picked up the car, they handed me another bill for charging the battery. They were pretty mad after I refused to pay. Got into the car, the red warning light was off. Apparently, the red warning light was triggered during the repair - most likely when the battery became critically low. Went back again to ask them to fix the battery charge problem. They rudely refused. They told me that the battery charge problem was due to the other problems I had and they recommended to go to see a dealer. I let them know there were no other problems. The red warning light was due to low battery charge. The other problems were their misdiagnosis. Days later, the air-conditioner stopped working as well. All in all, I spent about $400 to have loads of headaches and none of the problems fixed. read more

Very dishonest. They "fixed" my hood that would not latch, and two days later the hood would not stay closed. The man working the desk went to speak to manager and they refused to remedy the situation and refused to issue a refund for a job never completed. Missed work and had to pay another shop in town to actually fix the problem. Based on my experience, I believe all of the bad reviews I have read to be accurate. read more

Brought in a car for a used car inspection, they broke a wheel bolt off the wheel hub of one of the tires of the car! Then threw away the cabin air filter! To be fair they informed me of what happened, replaced the cabin air filter with a new one and offered to repair the bolt on the wheel hub of the tire. read more

Trying to overcharge college students I don't not recommend going here tried to make me pay over a hundred dollars just for an estimate

For the past 3 years my daughter has had her vehicle with her while in college in Oxford. Since I am 14 hours away, it was important that she found a reliable auto repair shop for her '04 Chevy Silverado Pickup truck. From the first time she brought it in and saw Andy, I felt at ease. Andy is a true professional. I've had my car in for somewhat major repairs twice in the last year, and they've done a fantastic job both times. They never tried to up-sell me, and charged me fair prices for parts and labor. I just came in this morning for a noise in my car that has been driving me nuts. Andy was nice enough to take the time out of his day (about 30 minutes) to take a ride with me and answer my numerous questions, when we got back, he told me have a nice day and didn't even charge me! I've stopped in here a couple times to have my car checked out for some repairs and work to possibly support a local shop but each time I've had a nagging feeling that the head mechanic is trying to rip me off. I know a little bit about cars and know what I can and can't fix on my own and know roughly what certain things should cost. I do my research before taking my car in anywhere and it's funny how Spring Street always tries to scare me into spending hundreds of dollars there for repairs. My most recent visit the head mechanic explained that my car was not safe and looked like it had not been driven and said the amount of work required would total about $750. It also took them about 7 hours to determine this and that it would take another two days to complete the repairs. At first he had me quite concerned since he is quite the salesman and actor but I knew better. I told him I would think about it and took my car to a shop in Cincinnati the next day. I told them the report from Spring Street and they inspected my car. They agreed on some things but said my car only needed a few repairs and only cost $225 total and the entire visit from walk-in to end of repair took 3.5 hours. I probably won't be going back to Spring Street again. It's a waste of time for sure and if you're not smart...a huge waste of money. read more

As a woman, going in to a garage to have work done on a vehicle can be challenging. I got hit with the MOST condescending attitude here, the minute I walked in the door and began speaking with the head mechanic. It got no better the next day, as we talked through some issues my car was having. I ended up leaving, it was THAT bad. I will drive to Cincinnati rather than have any work done here. read more

I would highly recommend going elsewhere for your car needs. In short, the manager at this location is one of the rudest individuals that I have come into contact with at a business that is supposed to serve the customer's needs. We were originally quoted at $26 for a conventional oil change. Thinking this was a fair price, we brought the car in. When we received the bill it was for more than $55 because they had put synthetic oil into the car instead of conventional. Confused as to why this happened, I asked to speak with the manager. Instead of the manager apologizing for misquoting the price and fixing the situation, he was hostile and rude (and he even blamed us for "not knowing our car"). At every other car place, they always explicitly ask if they can put a higher-grade oil in the car, especially when they quote another price to the customer. However, at this location, they blame the customer, and are even hostile when they are in the wrong. There other auto places in Oxford that have significantly better customer service (e.g., Jeff Pohlman) and I would recommend going to those places. Plus, the service is much faster at other places. To make matters even worse, the manager even makes up false statements to try to convince you he is right. He claimed our car "required" synthetic oil. This statement is incorrect because our car manufacturer only "recommends" synthetic oil. Most new cars "recommend" synthetic oil, but if you do your research, nearly every car is just fine with conventional (which is nice if you want to save money). In sum, I would not trust this car shop to do any work on your vehicle, since they are willing to make false statements about your vehicle in an attempt to make you pay more. read more

I came in to replace my battery for my car. BUT when i picked up my car, the driver side door handle was nearly ripped off and just hanging on! my handle had been fine when i dropped my car off! when i got my car back, the battery was replaced, but the door handle was broken! i told this to the the owner and he said, "well, how do i know you didn't break it?" "because it was completely fine when i gave you my car" i said. he refused to cover the damage or admit that he or his men had broken my door handle. he said i could come back and they'd fix it for me, but i'd have to pay for that! are you trying to make more business for yourself, breaking peoples cars so they'll come back for you to fix more things?!?! i got my handle replaced at another place, and it cost me about $225. that's $225 i never should have had to pay for damage i didn't cause.
