Holistic Animal Wellness - Getting a treatment with Dr. Cianelli :)

You'll never want a different vet after visiting Dr. Cianelli…read more My dog wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her. I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible care my dog has received from Dr. Cianelli. When we'd first brought him in, he was in the worst condition of his life. Overnight, all of the muscles in his head and body had deteriorated. His weight had gone from 120 lbs. to only 60 lbs. in no time at all. He couldn't drink any water, and in turn was very dehydrated and in need of weekly IV infusions. Countless visits and thousands in vet bills with our regular vet later, they suggested we put him down or not return. Watching him teeter on death with no support was one of my worst nightmares come true. We were left with more questions than answers, with nowhere to turn and no one willing to help him. That's when I was recommended to Dr. Cianelli through a friend who's pet was a patient of her's. She gave Dr. C 5 stars and beyond, and made her sound nothing short of excellent. I booked an appointment, hoping for a miracle but at least looking to give him the best quality of life for whatever time he had left. Our first visit was the most compassionate, comforting, and fear-free vet experience we've ever been to. Dr. Cianelli and her office exude warmth and safety, putting my dog and myself at ease; it feels like visiting an old friend. We discussed my dog further in person after previously filling out a diligent form online. She was asking questions no vet had ever asked before; no vet had ever cared. It further made me realize that I'd come to the most thorough and caring vet I've ever met. We agreed to try an acupuncture session for him and some time on the PEMF mat as we discussed his history, health, and course of action further. She doesn't leave you in the dark with her plans -- she walks you through her ideas and helps you to understand them, as she works out a better future for your dog. By the end of the appointment, Dr. C made strategic decisions based on her research, knowledge, and experience, and found the right medicine and diet for my dog. In less than a week after the first visit, my dog's health, appearance, and temperament did a complete 180. By the next day, my dog, who could hardly walk up or down the stairs and had so little life in his eyes, was now running up and down the stairs and prancing through the yard! He ran with his whole heart and soul on his walk and was showing everyone his biggest smile. I never thought I'd get to see my best friend healthy again, yet here he was! His spirit is revitalized and that spark has returned to his eyes. It was like he had been given a second chance at life. He was excited and full of life again, just as I've always known him. He is no longer in need of any IV infusions as he started drinking once again, and he is no longer anemic after the weeks-long struggle. His coat had dulled and lessened considerably when his health declined, and now it's back to its full, thick, fluffy, healthy self. My boy, who despises the car, even jumps in excitedly every time he realizes he's going to see her! Dr. Cianelli is the woman for you and your pet. When everyone else had given up on my sick and beautiful boy, Dr. Cianelli shone through. Thanks to Dr. Cianelli's expertise and dedication, our dog is not only alive but thriving. He's back to jumping up on the couch and bed -- something we thought he would never do again. When I think of all the things I'm grateful for, I count Dr. Cianelli twice. Her knowledge is endless, her light is so bright, and most importantly: she cares. As a patient, you aren't just a job to her; when your animal is in need of help, she puts her whole mind, body, and soul into finding the support you need. I truly believe that without her intervention, we would have had to say goodbye far too soon. Thank you, Dr. Cianelli!!! :-)

I have never left a negative review for a veterinary hospital because I understand that most…read moreclinics are understaffed, managing emotionally charged situations, emergencies, rising costs, and significant burnout. That said, I feel obligated to share my experience. I initially brought my cat in for an examination and urine culture. The appointment took approximately three hours, which was surprising given the nature of the visit. I have experience working in shelters and veterinary settings, so I came prepared with detailed notes in an effort to make the appointment as efficient as possible. I was later told that extended wait times in exam rooms are not uncommon at this practice. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Lindo. She was knowledgeable, collaborative, conversational, and open-minded. Based on my interaction with her alone, I would have been willing to return. Unfortunately, the remainder of my experience raised serious concerns. During the visit, a manager assisted in handling my special-needs cat. The handling was unnecessarily forceful, including scruffing and allowing him to struggle excessively. As someone familiar with handling practices, I found this troubling and inconsistent with low-stress and fear-free techniques. The most concerning issue involved my cat's urine culture. I paid approximately $700 for the visit, which included sending out the culture. I routinely request urine cultures because they identify the specific bacteria causing an infection and help ensure the correct antibiotic is chosen, reducing unnecessary antibiotic use and helping prevent resistance. In my experience, these results typically return within five days. More than three weeks have now passed, and I still have not received the results. Because of the delay, I ultimately had to start my cat on antibiotics without the benefit of the diagnostic testing I paid for. At this point, even if the results are eventually provided, their clinical usefulness has been significantly diminished by the passage of time. I have called multiple times seeking an update. On each occasion, I was told someone would call me back, yet I never received a return call. When I did speak with management, I found the communication unprofessional and concerning. I had originally planned to have my younger cat spayed at this hospital. However, given the handling concerns, lack of communication, and failure to provide the diagnostic results I paid for within an appropriate timeframe, I no longer feel comfortable entrusting my pets to their care.

Not only does she has the experience to diagnose our family dog, but she also has the BEST "Dog Side Manner" I have ever experienced in a veterinary office. Dr. Clair's professionalism was like talking to a family member. She took the time to explain in detail our doggie's ailment. The intake staff was absolutely a member of the team. Best of all, our hats off to Raza. You will not find anyone better in any veterinary clinic that can fulfill his role and support "patients" and clients. Dr. Claire's group is really one of the best. Having come from Southern California, where veterinary clinics are large in numbers, we found a home for our Samantha under the care of Charlestown Animal Hospital.] The team really deserves more than a five-star rating!

He told me during a consult he had to hold my very small dogs mouth closed and she turned blue and couldn't breathe...when I simply and respectfully asked for more details about this, he cancelled her procedure and told me we weren't welcome. He would rather my dog suffer or even die than provide more info. He clearly has a big ego problem and is too rough with animals...my dog was clearly scared. I can't believe I let him take her for a consult in the first place. Additionally, he rushed the conversation, made me feel like an idiot, and rudely told me nowhere else would be able to fit me in before September (4 months from now.) He also gave incorrect info about another diagnosis he clearly knew nothing about. Marie in the office was fantastic, I wish I could work solely with her. But if you want to keep your pet safe, healthy, and unharmed, stay far away from "Mike". I wish someone had warned me, I feel so bad for not trusting my gut and feel like I let my sweet girl down for even letting him take her for a consult in the first place!

Here's my story...friends' dog who has an awful habit of stealing and eating anything that's not nailed down got hold of a cat ' nine tails and an empty milk carton. Some time around 4 a.m. we all could see he wasn't doing well and we knew he needed to be seen by a vet...fast. We called and got Dr. Mike McIntire on the phone. Notwithstanding the late hour he told us to come in with the dog and we did. For the next five hours he checked the beast, gave him fluids, provided medicine and got us so that we could head home with a healthy, recovering dog. He took care of things in a calm, reasonable manner that obviously came from experience and from realizing we were quite nervous about the pup. Dr. Mike wasn't shy about telling us what he thought was happening and was quick to ask us to help with the procedures he undertook on the animal. There was a welcome unpretentiousness that calmed us down a lot, and that was refreshing. Place isn't cheap...but it's certainly worth visiting if one has a sick animal. I hope I don't ever have to go back there, but if I do, I'm glad to know it's such a good place.

They have adapted to the COVID pandemic by collecting pets from their parking area and returning them to you at your car in order to keep everyone safe. Their treatments have always been helpful to our pets and they give us tremendous peace of mind. They've also been super helpful in dealing with paperwork. On top of that, they are ethical enough to refer out to specialists when a pet needs one (our older dog has needed specialized canine dental care, so they referred us to a specialist for that. She also needed a surgery that another office had more modern equipment for and referred us out). They make these referrals even though it means someone else gets the money for procedures, which strikes me as showing how honest the folks at W.A.H. are. Top marks all around, would gladly recommend.
