We had a walk with Garret today and it was very informative. He not only knows the history of the city but loves the subject of Lincoln.

We took the tour on a recent trip to Springfield and really enjoyed it! The price was reasonable for the 90 minute tour. Our guide was full of interesting facts and stories, none too scary. Being outside the Lincoln home in the still night was our favorite part. After the tour, the guide returned us to the starting point, near our vehicle. Also, when the owner checked us in, he gave us lots of tips on where to go and what to see while in Springfield. We followed his advice and had a great trip! Highly recommend! As an aside, you can call and leave a message that you are coming but the procedure is to just show up a few minutes before the tour, at their sign, near the old state house. read more

We took The Lincoln Experience - Private Tour with Garrett This was one of the best tours we ever took! My husband, granddaughter & I took the train to Springfield to learn more about our state capital and Abraham Lincoln before he was the president. I had not been there in a long time. Garrett went above and beyond with getting sight seeing tickets, sharing his amazing knowledge of history about Springfield, Lincoln the man' May Todd Lincoln (she was misunderstood) and the aftermath of the Civil War. He drove us all over to numerous historical sites including the Lincoln home and neighborhood and a tour of the cemetery and Lincoln's tomb history. I mentioned I wanted to see the Dana Thomas Frank Lloyd House and he drove us there, got the tickets, knew the guide, picked us up after the tour and then drove us to a restaurant. There was no way we could have seen so much on our own or learned all about Lincoln without Garrett as our guide. We did and saw more in one day than we could have done on our own in 3 days. read more

I went on the Lincoln's Ghost Tour: Legends & Lore, and it was a lot of fun. Garrett is pretty good as a storyteller, and it was fun to go to the different sites to hear things about what happened there and significant events in the life of Lincoln and his family. Unfortunately, it was a little light on the ghost lore. That was a bit of a bummer. I did enjoy the tour, and it was only $12 for 90 minutes, but it felt mostly like a Lincoln history tour instead. read more

Fantastic! We scheduled a private tour of the Lincoln sites with Garret. He spent 5 hours showing us around and giving insight to Lincoln's Springfield. His knowledge and enthusiasm made this one of the best tours I've ever been on. He was able to cater to our needs and requests, my Mother is in her 80s and needed to rest occassionally. The owner/operator of the tour was as knowledgeable about Lincoln as any tour guide I've ever been with. I was impressed, and I'm not often. We had a beautiful night for a tour, which helped, but we just had about as much fun as you can have on one of these things. He leaves the haunted stuff for the end of the tour, which was nice because you got a good amount of history up front, and then when you're sitting in a dark street in an 1800's reproduction neighborhood you get all the haunted/spooky stuff. It was a good way to go. Shout out to our tour guide who'd had heart surgery 3 weeks before, and yet came out and walked around with us anyway. In fact, he was walking at a good clip and didn't have any issues with breathing, etc. Good on you, man. That's impressive! My only complaint, which I'm not sure if this company can help, is that restrooms should be available somewhere along the way. Maybe he could work out with one of the restaurants nearby, or get the owner of the souvenir shop where you meet up to open up (I'm sure most of us would have bought a chocbhtke as well). We wanted to absorb as much about Lincoln the man as we could in a single day. We did just that. Garret was able to give us not only an information loaded tour, but to answer questions. I have always enjoyed history and was relatively well up to speed on Lincoln's legacy and still I learned a ton. I asked a few questions that i already knew the answers too and Garret answered them correctly. To leave it there would be enough to catch the attention of someone like my wife and myself, but that would be missing the greater point. Garret Moffett loves his city, its history and its outstanding people, with Lincoln at the top. His love is inescapable as his excellent story telling skills wrap you up and let you taste the time and the tempo of Lincolns town. It would have been worth the fee if we only had experienced the moment when we pulled up to the unimposing train station when Lincoln left his city for the last time and headed to the impossible job of holding together a nation so badly frayed. Garret gave Lincoln's farewell speech, word for word. As Lincoln must have been emotionally staggered by the moment, so was the story teller. It was a beautiful event. I urge you to go see Lincoln as seen through the visit to his home town that he credits for making him the man he turned out to be and while you are there take the extra step of getting Garret to make it come alive for you. We too were on the Dead Walk tour with Dana Quinn... if you want a good tour, go to Gettysburg... if you want a tour you can make into a joke, here you have it. Dana was a HORRIBLE story teller! He turned the tour into a sales plug for his upcoming documentary. The Hickox 'haunted' House was a joke. While I'm sure it will look amazing once the restoration is complete, having people walk around a dark renovation site without signing waivers is a recipe for disaster! The best part of the tour was making fun of Dana along with my boyfriend and another family we met. read more

Interesting history, but not so much "ghost" on the ghost walk. A few stories mentioning examples of rumored occult activities and sitings of spirits were included in the historical oration. Was a little bit boring for my 12-year-old. I think most of the adults enjoyed it. It was nice to find an evening outdoor activity. read more

We went on the "Dead Walk" tour with Dana Quinn, and you need to take it! Great tour and the guide was wonderful (he's the head investigator of the Nighthawk Paranormal Society)! I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in ghosts and the paranormal. read more

I recently went on the Lincoln Ghost Walk with 4 relatives who were visiting from out of state. Garret Moffatt was our guide, and he was fabulous! I am spending a week in Springfield for a work training and I was looking for some activities to occupy my evenings. The city of Springfield seems to roll up the sidewalks at around 5 PM, but I was excited to find the Lincoln's Ghost Tour on weeknights at 7:30! It was the one of the first tours of the season so the crowd was small (just me, an Abe Lincoln fanboy, and his girlfriend). Garret was very personable and seemed genuinely knowledgeable about all things Abraham Lincoln. He is obviously well connected to the city and its culture, and was able to answer questions about Lincoln and also about the city in general. His stories were interesting and engaging and he delivered exactly what was described in the tour description. Overall, this was an incredibly quirky and fun way to spend an evening solo in Springfield. read more

I stumbled upon this tour on my way to dinner. I saw a sign outside of Lincoln's law office advertising a ghost tour at 7:30. No reservations were required, so I decided to eat quickly and check it out. There were about 15 of us on the tour. Garrett is a great guide and clearly knows a lot about Lincoln. He walked us from Lincoln's office by the court where he practiced (which I think is now the old capitol, but I'm not sure). We then walked through the Lincoln park where Lincoln's house is located. We heard stories about the psychic Lincoln consulted and how Mary conducted seances in the White House. We walked past Lincoln's house which was beautifully lit up at night. The tour continued to the train depot where Garrett explained how Lincoln had 12 funerals and Mary attended none of them. We learned how Lincoln's body was relocated numerous times and how his friends kept opening his casket to make sure he was still there. This was a great tour, and Garrett was happy to answer everyone's questions. This is a great way to burn off a few calories after dinner. read more

Stopped in Springfield on our road trip journey from California on Route 66. We enjoyed all of the Lincoln sites, but the Ghost Walk took the cake! Hearing the stories while standing in the exact location these events took place - it was awesome! Guides really knew how to make the stories come to life. Spooky and fun! Had an amazing time on the Lincoln haunted tour! I'm from chicago and we drove to springfield just for this event. The price is 15 bucks they do offer military discounts ( the price is well worth it ). We had Garrett as our tour guide he did a great job with the story telling. He was extremely educated on all things Lincoln. He wad very discribted I felt as if I was back in the 1800s. It was a great balance of Lincoln history and haunt storys. I would definitely add this tour on the must list for things to do in Springfield! read more

Went on the Lincoln Ghost tour and it was lacking in a lot of areas. I've certainly been on better ghost tours. It was mostly a walking history tour of Lincoln and not much else. When I asked about another house in the streets where Lincoln lived, the tour guide dismissed it and said it was nothing. The house I was referring to was from the underground railroad and probably had significant historical facts. Also, the tour guide claimed she has been doing the tour for 10 years, yet she was constantly referring back to "cheat sheets". I was majorly let down. read more

Terrible experience! We saw an advertisement for the Lincoln ghost tour in an online advertisement. The directions state to be on the corner of 6th and Adams at 7:30pm. No reservations required. We arrived at exactly 7:30pm. There was a total of 3 people at 7:30. At 7:34pm 3 more people arrived. The group was talking and one of the people in the group said that he had been on the tour several times. He said the guide is dressed in period costume and carries a lantern. We looked around for the tour guide (Garret) but we could not find him. about 20 minutes the gentleman that knew Garret saw him. We all walked over to Garret. He was not dressed in period costume and he did not have a lantern. He had an attitude and clearly did not want to do the tour. He said that it was 20 late and he was not going to do a whole tour. We stated that we were at the corner at 7:30 and he was not there. He said "I saw you but I ignored you because there were only 3 people" REALLY, what kind of a business man are you. Why wouldn't you come over and explain that the tour only runs if there is more than 6 people and not leave us hanging there on the corner wondering were you are. Instead he lurked in the shadows like a child. My husband and I left and did not take the tour. Garret's attitude was very off putting and I would not pay a penny to that man. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to go on the tour as we are big history fans. BOOOO!! read more

My kids and I recently went on the Ghost Tour and really enjoyed it. While it is not for the people who are looking for a terrifying experience, it was filled with wonderful stories and a lot of good historical information. I believe that Garrett was our tour guide, and he was excellent. We highly recommend it for families or people who are looking for a tour of this city in a different way.
