Needing to spend a weekend in Bellingham for a public function, we chose this new hotel because, frankly, the price couldn't be beat and we figured we couldn't go wrong at a Marriot. This hotel is only about a year old, so it is in near perfect condition. We arrived earlier than the prescribed 3pm check-in time (which I had noted in my reservation), so the king room we reserved was not ready. We were offered a double queen instead and since the size of the room and amenities were comparable, we decided it was fine so we could make our function in plenty of time. The room was spacious and well appointed. The water closet being separate from the rest of the bathroom was a surprise, and sliding doors for both that and the shower/vanity areas were a nice feature. A lovely sofa seating and a roomy desk area make up the front of the suite; a large, almost walk-in closet and two dressers are provided. The room has a microwave, fridge, hair dryer, mini coffee maker, ironing board, and large tv (which is difficult to see from the bed unless you're sitting up because the dresser it sits on is low). We were disappointed that the room failed to provide a local entertainment and dining guide (which is however, available at the front desk) and that the trash cans had no liners (putting the coffee packets in an open, wire trash basket was unappealing, so I used the bag that came w/ the ice bucket.) That little coffee maker was a disappointment as well and we did end up asking the front desk to send up more coffee and creamer. For a couple that regularly drinks coffee, the little "one cup at a time" was aggravating. We ended up stopping again at the desk late at night to get more sugar and we washed and reused the little foam cups provided for coffee during the entirety of our stay. The beds are what I would consider comfy and offer plenty of pillow choices. I slept great, while my husband complained he tossed and turned all night. I did have to turn the heat down to 64, even with a raging snowstorm outside, because it got stuffy quite quickly. Now, the rest of the hotel's amenities, lessee. The pool. Great pool area, could use another changing room as we waited and waited for an entire family to finish showering and finally gave up and went to the nearby restrooms to change into our suits. The bromine, or whatever they use in the spa, bubbles to the point of foam. But, it wasn't overly strong smelling and didn't cause any eye irritation, still, my husband got a rash the next day. Could have been the temperature, it was pretty hot and the pool, in contrast, was too cold for me to enjoy. I also discovered what looked like cottonwood tufts, floating all over in the pool...ewwwwwwwww. After the spa, we did use the changing room to shower off and it is really great. Again, two of them would have been nice. The exercise area is cool, except, I wish they had a rowing machine. The biggest pitfall, IMO, for this hotel is the layout of the lobby/entertainment areas. If you want to use the pool/spa or exercise area, you are essentially forced to walk from the elevators leading up to the rooms, all the way through the lobby/dining/bar area. (if there is another elevator available on the opposite side, we couldn't find it). Evenings at this hotel offer an open bar/dining option, so the entire area was filled w/ people when we went to the pool...something that many people may not be very comfortable with. It's why we chose to wait till we got to the pool area to change. Walking through an area full of people drinking in just a swimsuit and towel is not something I aspire to do. Perhaps the hotel should offer pool robes in each room or at the desk upon check-in to lessen the angst? We also didn't like the excessive noise in that area as we moved through on our way in and out. In the morning, going to the exercise area, you get the same feeling, wading through a sea of humanity, all trying to get to the free "continental breakfast". I think dining/drinking areas are better served behind partian walls or separate rooms. After all, this is a Marriot, one of the leading luxury names in the hotel industry. Guest comfort should always be a consideration, even in terms of personal privacy. We had a late night, so we were up later than usual the next morning. Unfortunately, after working out, and getting showered, we also missed the breakfast, which is served from 7 am to10 am on the weekends. When we did pass the area, it was packed, as the hotel was quite full for the weekend. It looked like it would have sufficed, but I am unable to speak to the variety or quality of their food. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the quiet room we had. But because of the layout of the lobby area and the noise of the entertaiment area, as an older couple, it was not our cup of tea. First stay at SpringHill and was very pleasantly surprised. Room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Loved that shower head could accommodate height and fixtures seemed new. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, especially Coley, and the price was right. read more

The complimentary breakfast provided a filling plate of options for a four vegans family; we ate a variety of fruit, fresh cooked oatmeal, bagels, and walnuts. The overnight accommodations were quiet and comfortable. The fact that the toilet and shower were separate was also a nice perk for 4 travelers in 1 room. Really enjoying my stay. The staff is not only professional but very friendly. They have complementary laundry and instead of selling me the detergent they just gave it to me for free. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. And quite fancy for a good price. read more

My Room was very nice. Very clean lobby and workout area. Workout area was missing a set dumbbells though... Overall not a bad experience. Only thing that kept me from rating the place higher, Was that one of the staff was wearing sweatpants. And he was going in and out of the kitchen. Being a kitchen manager before in my life, I never imagined a kitchen would allow this. Let alone a highly rated hotel. I think his name tag said "gabe" Not very professional and looks bad for the company he is representing. read more

I have to say this was the best experience Kevin at the front desk was awesome and so accommodating to my needs I flew in early I was able to get in my room early and I was going to be at a conference and my fiancé and my 8 month old were able to have a late check out. This hotel was very nice, and is conveniently located just off I-5, and is within a few miles to the Bellis Fair Mall. The staff is very nice and friendly. I will say that they are extremely busy. Every time I walked past the front desk, there were people ready to check in. It is also connected to sister property Towne Place Suites. I've seen properties side by side before, but you can actually walk from the hallway of one, to the hallway of the other. The property itself was very nice, most of the front of it was parking (which was free, they give you a permit for your dash). However, they had a nice little atrium out front with some really pretty flowers. They had a great little bar area, that seemed to be hopping not too long after they opened at 4pm. They also have a free breakfast in the morning, but I didn't have time to eat it. Despite being busy, the staff is very friendly and helpful. They give you a very nice welcome letter upon arrival. The rooms are typical Springhill Suites, very big with a big living area, office area, mini-fridge. microwave and coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. The closet was very big with shelves and drawers. They also had a great thermostat with the awesome "constant fan" feature. I never know what the deal is with the bathroom. They have one part that is a toilet in a small sink and then next door is the part with the shower and the big sink/vanity. It's good I guess if you have a traveling companion that you're sharing the room with. One person can go to the bathroom while the other person is showering or getting ready. It's just unusual. Now, the only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five, is that you could hear a lot of the hallway noise and noise from the rooms above me. The walls seemed to be very thin. I had a bit of a hard time going to sleep. But overall, once it got to be about 9 or 10pm, it was quiet. Also, I thought my remote's batteries had died, so I took it down to the front desk for the batteries to be replaced. They did so, and I still could not get it to work. However, only the power button was broken on it. I was able to turn on the TV manually and the rest of the buttons on the remote worked. The TV Cable was great, plenty of selections and the wi-fi worked well. All-in-all, it was a very good stay there and I would definitely stay there again. read more

The kitchen/wait staff who brought us our food looked as though they'd just finished cleaning a dumpster. Breakfast consisted of intermittent eggs and Costco junk food all served on paper plates with plastic forks - a far cry from the images they use to market this place online. read more

I love that someone with a sense of style and hotel room ergonomics designed this hotel. No longer the silly bathtub that's a slip away from a disaster. Beautiful tiled shower (though the floor does get wet b/c water drips out three door a bit, so use the mat provided!). Very very functional workspace -- desk chair OUTLETS! Great thoughtful lighting. Fabulous modern design. Walls a bit thin with Gabby Lady in next room, but overall quiet. Perfect for one person or two. Family? Could get noisy. Fitness center surpassed any I've been to in the last...5 years? of travel. Plenty of machines, nice looking pool area. Great workout, and walked all sweaty right through the aforementioned crowded lobby. Very kind staff. Decent parking, good location. Marriott is building a Townplace Suites RIGHT next door, like the workmen were pulling hoses thorough the Springhill parking lot. So I'm guessing when that property opens the parking may change. Great rooms and wonderful staff. Excellent bar and bistro with great bartenders/servers (Matt, Lauren, Becky). At least, the bistro is great during happy hours but unfortunately after happy hour is over, the prices are very expensive ($7.00 for a draft beer) so the place goes dead. It would be nice if the prices were more in line with the surrounding area so you could relax at the hotel in the evening rather than go downtown. Otherwise it is a great place to stay in Bellingham. read more

Very clean and modern interior. The room I stayed in was very modern and looked straight out of an IKEA magazine (not a bad thing in my opinion!). The front desk and manager were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The manager--I think his name was Damien--even took the time to brew me a fresh batch of coffee in the breakfast room after I arrived too late to get a cup at breakfast (it was past breakfast time--my fault). Speaking of breakfast; it was 5 star all on its own. It was (good) restaurant quality. Much better quality than you would get at a Best Western or Holiday Inn, by far. This is now my first choice of hotels to stay at in Bellingham. read more

My standards for hotels are typically pretty basic: clean room, soft sheets, hot water. Most places perform these basics just fine, so very few establishments stand out to warrant a review, be it positive or negative. However, I felt compelled to write a review for this hotel based on how pleased I've been. The value you get when staying here is truly outstanding. The room: not just clean but big, open, and well laid out. Staying with two children, my wife and I never felt too confined. The small partition between the sleeper sofa and the bed provided just enough privacy. The water closet and sink--its own space, separate from the shower and vanity area--was welcomed when multiple people were getting ready in the morning. The staff were super helpful and accommodating. The morning breakfast crew busted their tails to ensure everything was well stocked. They also provide gluten free offerings, if that's your thing. The front desk personnel always greeted me with a smile and a "hello" when entering. Overall, I have zero complaints for my three nights' stay. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay here again. read more

Such a high quality hotel that allows dogs under 40lbs. The lobby bar is so nice. The breakfast is buffet and has bacon sausage & eggs. The only issue I have is while most everything is somewhat high end, the bath tissue is like sand paper! Really, grocery stores and rest areas have better TP than this hotel. read more

This hotel has been nothing but amazing. I had to stay here for a whole month, that being said you kinda wonder at times how the hotel is going to be for you for such a long period of time. In the time I was here...there were people who stayed for a couple days to a couple weeks. I can honestly say the staff goes above and beyond for the customer. I have no complains about any of the staff at this hotel. Everyone is very hospitable and they all have great customer service. They had great recommendations for us tourists. The facility itself has great rooms!!! Very clean and new. Bar downstairs is great. Great small gym too but if you like running like I do you can also run around the block. They do have a hot tub and pool and free laundry!!!! You can never go wrong with that!!! Breakfast was great..and you can get super creative with their food selection so it never gets old. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and especially my family. read more

The staff is Great which is why I am even giving this one star. Whoever designed the layout and type of bathrooms is one brick short of common sense load. A numbnut who thought so called 'design' was more important than actual function. For starters, the toilet is for all functional aspects sitting in the middle of the room. It affords no privacy at all. The stupid rolling doors with glass panels? Really, who thought that was a good idea? The little room itself is like an amplifying box. No sound privacy there. And yes Maynard, you can see through the frosted panel. The rolling door makes all kinds of noise so waking up your roommate is going to happen just with that action. Then you flip on a light switch and blam, the whole room is lit up like a swat team raid flash bang grenade. And then you have to listen to the amplified sound of whoever is in there peeing/etc. Why don't you just put the toilet on a pedestal in the middle of the room? The shower area is no better. How about some design sensibility? A little privacy. These so called 'suites' cost enough. Why did someone think it was a fashionable idea to do this? Won't stay here or any other Spring Hills now that I know this. read more

Do not stay in room 255. I stayed here with my wife and family on Jan 15th 2017 in a one night getaway from the Seattle area. We had a loud beeping noise going off on roughly an hourly basis throughout the night which continually woke me and my family up. In the morning, I discovered that our room was next to a laundry room. After talking to the front desk, they informed me that they had guests who were up all night and that they like to do their laundry at night. A night away turned into a night without sleep. The thing that really annoyed me was that when I told the front desk, they were aware of the problem but still rented the room. read more

We have secured a significant federal government contract and are in the process of setting up direct billing arrangements with this hotel. I am here this week for the first time for project meetings. I want to thank Anna Johnson for working with us for the discount rate and direct billing arrangement for me and our employees that need to stay here. I also want to say that I have enjoyed my first stay here. Being a business traveler I appreciate good service and a hotel staff that make a difference for me when out of town on business. The staff has been positive, friendly and kind to me. I want to compliment Stephanie who helped me during breakfast on April 10. She is an energetic, positive and friendly person that can and did make a difference for me. This was my first time at the hotel and so she made me feel welcome and helped me with some of the breakfast nuances. Stephanie was very helpful, professional, and energetic and was engaging with witty conversation beyond the traditional customer/server situation. I also observed her being friendly to other weary guests waking up with breakfast. I find Stephanie to be one of those people that makes a difference and I just want the Marriott Springhill Management to recognize one of their employees that is a difference maker to this business traveler and perhaps many other guests. .
