After childhood and adult dental trauma, I avoided care for many year making issues worse. Dr. Sommer and his team used trauma-informed techniques to make me comfortable and calm. I felt understood and safe. They not only repaired my dental health but also gave me a safe office to bring my family. One of my kids said this is the best dentist they've been too. I love this place. I drive down from Denver for the care. Which is not close! But it is very so very much worth it. The care here feels different because it IS different! It is a (an?) holistic, attentive, engaged, enthusiastic experience. The technology is top notch. I just had repeat radiographs and it is, without a doubt, my best experience with dental Imaging that I've ever had. I am self-pay, so the pricing for me is different than for people who come in with insurance. But they accept many different insurance types. The pricing seems to me to be quite fair and reasonable. And as I mentioned earlier, the quality of care is outstanding. The practice has 2 dentists in it, and the new dentist Dr. Martins is continuing practices unique, forward thinking, whole person attentive care approach. I'm happy to make the track all the way down from Denver. This is the best practice I've visited. read more

I had a wonderful appointment with Dr. Sommer, dental hygenist/dental assistant professional Micahyla and the other staff members who welcomed me with a friendly check-in this morning. I had an appointment for the first of 2 difficult week-after-week dental appointments: cavities in my 2 wisdom teeth - hard for the dentist to get to in the way back of my mouth. When I sat down in the dental chair Micahyla asked if I wanted to get both wisdom teeth taken care of today - YES PLEASE!! What a bonus to not need multiple trips! One tooth was laser drilled and filled in what seemed like 15-20 minutes with minimum discomfort - wow they're experts! The next tooth a more difficult challenge for Dr. Sommer but again in 20 minutes or so I think, all fixed with minimum discomfort (even though I chose to have no novocaine for the work on either tooth - unusual for me). Dr. Sommer and Micahyla asked me several times whether pain was bothering me during the procedures - it wasn't. What a blessing to get both difficult fillings done in one visit - I've been treated for all my dentistry needs for decades by Dr. Sommer - - it goes without saying - I'll say it anyway, he is a talented professional and Micahyla assisted him flawlessly anticipating what was needed, very smoothly - a great team! Through the years Dr. Sommer has removed my mercury-containing fillings from my youth years and replaced them with modern new tech fillings, and crowns as needed. This morning's appointment was a joy - after the procedures Dr. Sommer and Micahyla visited with me to make sure I was OK after the dental work was finished - a professional, capable, friendly appointment at less cost than I expected. This place doesn't know the meaning of "holistic" and they do not listen to their patients. They are just another run of the mill dentist trying to fill their pockets with money. I went in for cleaning and came out with a large bill and unclear expectations. The worst part was their comments about how they won't clean my teeth as it wouldn't do me any good,. They said I'd first need to fork over $1k for a treatment they know won't work for me.... Do yourself a favor and find another place. I would not recommend this dental office. They do not provide accurate information in regards to insurance. They stated that I would not have to pay for my exam prior to my appointment so I continued with my appointment. After I finished, I was charged $82 and then a month later I got a bill for over $100 and I am currently disputing with my insurance company. It is frustrating that they are not honest and upfront and it seems they are more concerned about filling their pockets full of money then helping people within the holistic community. In addition, I was told that a crown would be over $3k and that was after insurance. It just makes me sad that even a holistic doctor is more concerned about money than helping patients. Complete scam. They charge me $150 out of pocket and never told me they'll be charging me for lasers. Then they decided to send a bill of $77 to my home. Complete scam don't recommend going if you want to keep your money. And they make some bs excuse saying "insurance doesn't cover it all something's wrong with your insurance" like seriously? Every dentist I go to doesn't have this problem. Don't recommend at all. Stay away if you're looking for a dentist. read more

6 days ago I just moved to the area and let my dental hygienist know I'm hearing impaired and was not wearing my hearing aids as I should be. My visit with Dr. Sommer was unprofessional and was rushed. My xrays were reviewed as he was sitting behind my chair and I'm having to look over and he has a procedure mask on during this time making it difficult to hear him and to feel comfortable when things are rushed. I didnt feel like there were any holistic remedies or recommendations, and feel like it's a marketing tool to pull clients into their practice. read more

Excellent dentist - caring and highly experienced. I am extremely picky about the dentist that touches my teeth after having many missteps. I have been seeing Dr. Sommer for years - my teeth have never looked or felt better. He has replaced almost all my caps from other practitioners due to quality issues or age. He also did a restoration on a baby tooth that was still hanging on but looking old and discolored - I should have had this done years ago - the work done was excellent and looks so natural. He also refers work out to other excellent professionals when needed. I would highly recommend this dentist. read more

My issues obviously aren't as complex as you are stating. As I have had all of my dental work completed through a "regular" dentist. He did a phenomenal job and my teeth look beautiful! Dr. Sommer told me I had 5 cavities that needed fixed and I've never had a cavity in my life. After seeking second and third dentist it turns out I didn't have any cavities. ZERO. He's a scammer. Stay away. read more

I came to the office, was checked in, handed over my insurance and was almost immediately brought back to the back. My daughter and I received a full check up on our teeth and then my wife started hers. Halfway through her check up, I was called up to the front desk and informed my insurance would not cover my visit and $740 was to be paid out of pocket. My insurance was not verified BEFORE receiving care and when I asked for a refund I was told that it was my fault because I didn't bring proper insurance info. But they were able to find my insurance to tell me I wasn't covered??? I thought they didn't have my insurance??? They simply didn't have the patience to check my insurance before giving me care, which resulted in me having to pay out of pocket. No refund has been issued. And they have refused to refund it. read more

I visited Dr. Sommer to get a second opinion on a tooth issue I was having. He was wonderful - thorough, professional, and gentle. He explained the issue to me, showed my the X-rays and photos he was looking at and made me feel really great about his recommendation - which was not to do a crown at all! Rarely do health providers tell you that you don't need work, but Dr. Sommer was honest and trustworthy and I would absolutely recommend him for dental work. read more

They told me I had 8 cavities. I've only had 2 or 3 in my entire life. I got a second opinion and the new dentist made it clear this was an unethical diagnosis. I had zero cavities. Really this guy should be ashamed of his practice. I have another friend who had the exact same experience in this office. Not only that but they grossly overcharge for dental work. And, even worse, a large filling my newly adopted daughter received from them (from some hygienist with "extra" training) only lasted about 4 months before it fell out). Steer clear. Another five stars!!! This is the best dentist in the Springs! Today, we began removal of mercury fillings and the process could not have gone smoother. Dr. Sommer's bedside manner, patience and terrific staff make going to the dentist FUN. And, he's so funny.... When I said "Are you sure you numbed me, I felt nothing," he said... "I'm sorry, I could try better next time!" And, a couple of weeks before, I had a terrific deep cleaning by Melissa that was totally painless. Super job from start to finish! I had a cracked tooth and Dr Sommer put a crown on it to keep it from self-destructing - would've been bad to lose the tooth. Dr Sommer prepared the tooth for a crown and built a temporary crown - had me in and out in record time, then at my next appointment he installed the permanent crown (also a pretty quick appointment) which looks beautiful and will probably last forever - well maybe not quite for eternity, but I'm sure eating comfortably now. Dr. Sommer also removed my mercury fillings in past appointments and has my COMPLETE CONFIDENCE. He's the Best - friendly, tells you what's going on as he makes your smile better and fixes what needs fixing. Dr. Sommer and his caring staff almost make his dentist office the place you want to hang out for fun. :-) read more
