I love the reclinable comfy seats, food and drink options (they have a bar too!) and the seat warmers ...a nice place to see a movie

    Where the crawdads sing !

Have to say on my return to this theater after the renovations I was immensely impressed. Before it was smelly, dirty, and all kinds of other words I dare not use. I've been here twice in a week now and I love the new seating with heat and reclining chairs. You can pick your own seats now too when you buy your tickets. The bathrooms are much cleaner too. Thankfully. They have added a bar! Not sure how much all that is but it looked nice and well stocked. If price of popcorn and soda is anything to go by I'm sure it's not cheap but a nice option. They have better and more variety on food too. Great sound and Visual during the movie. Just a lot of previews before the movie but that will never change! Lots of parking and and great restaurants around ! Finally a theater close by I don't have to cringe to go to. Hopefully they keep up the cleanliness!

Heated recliner, buttery popcorn and 3D glasses ready for 3 1/2 hours of Avatar-Way of the Water!

Went to see the new Avatar flick and it was decent. Kind of dirty for the matinee and the concession staff didn't even ask for proof of ticket. Definitely expensive for a drink and medium popcorn but it served the purpose and the recliner was heated! I'll give a 3 1/2 and half is for the fact I will probably go back and try the plant based chik'n nuggets next time, but the next Avatar may be out by then!

    Screening cinema, solo.

Any theater that has matinees and/or weekly special deals already has my attention because I'm a true movie buff! With this particular cinema, not only is it extremely close to where I live and easy to get to, but there's always more than enough parking for everyone. It's never crowded whenever I go, which is always a plus considering there's still a pandemic going on and social distancing is steel a smart thing to practice, even today with vaccines. The only thing I wish this theater had was better seats that either massaged you or reclined more so that its patrons could enjoy their viewing experience even more. I've even been to some movie-theaters where they serve you alcoholic beverages and have miniature tables at their seats... So I feel that all this place needs is an up-to-date upgrade.

    Reclining seats!
    Sarah C.

Reclining comfy seats with heaters, $8 matinee tickets, and it's cheaper on Tuesdays if you get a (free) membership. What's not to love? Seriously, it's a great theater.

It's pricey, but the staff is friendly, the chairs are soooo comfortable, and the picture is crystal clear.

With…read more$7 shows, a wide variety of refreshments sold (from beer and wine to popcorn and assorted candies) and an all-male comedian roster, this was truly a treat that left its sold-out crowd guffawing and gagging, literally, over the deliverances of jokes that ranged from raunchy adult to downright childish and silly! These groups of comedians did not come to disappoint as they approached everything from crowd interactions to tongue-in-cheek monologues performed. Marriage, modern day behaviors and protruding manholes were just a boisterous bit of memorable subjects discussed, leaving the crowd both stunned and stuck in their seats, doubling over with laughter. Myself (and my friends that I brought along) arrived just 15 minutes before the sold-out show only to enter a jam-packed theater house full of comedy-lovers. Seated directly in the front row (because there were absolutely no other available seats), I confess to feeling a tad bit anxiety over the possibility of becoming one of the comedians' targets to tease... but as the show commenced, I/we was/were left more than thrilled to have the best seats in the entire house! Would I go again when these "idiots" return to the soapbox & silverscreen in Salem? Uhhh, duhhhhh! Should others be sure to check out whenever they do make their way back to perform? At that affordable price, you'd be an idiot not to!

Delightful old school atmosphere. Inexpensive snacks. Friendly staff. I might be wrong about this, but I *think* they play pre-show trailers before the start time, so your show really starts at its posted time. Seriously, I went to buy an Icee, the machine was still getting going, and the staff member offered to walk it to me at my seat when it was ready!

My wife and I have been coming to Aperture several times over the years, and every single visit has been great. We're actually here tonight to see Wuthering Heights, a movie she had to drag me to but if history tells me anything, I'll end up loving the experience anyway. That's what this place does. It makes you glad you came. The staff is always genuinely friendly, not the forced, robotic kind. The snack selection is excellent, and the beer options are consistently solid. It feels curated, thoughtful, and intentional--just like the films they choose to show. Anytime my wife suggests we go see a movie, I immediately say, "Let's go to Aperture," instead of one of the big box theaters. It's just a better vibe. You're in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, surrounded by great food spots, so it's easy to make a full night out of it. If you appreciate independent film, a relaxed atmosphere, and a theater that actually feels like part of the community, Aperture is the move. We'll keep coming back.

We loved having the small theater to ourselves! The snacks/drinks are a little pricey, but that's what you get with most movie theaters. This one offers some of the best snacks though! Some stuff you don't see usually. They also serve beer/wine along with sodas, and they allow you to bring in coffee from the shop they share space with. We just visited again to see Superman and we're in a bigger theater (it seated 82). Again, an awesome experience. If you haven't checked it out, you should! They don't play every movie that comes out, but it's worth the trip if they're playing something you wanna see.
