Great centrally located Sprouts store. Friendly employees and good produce! Can't beat the $5 sushi on Wednesdays. The premade sandwiches are good, but the sandwich counter can make a mean meal! Starting at five bucks with unlimited veges and more, there's a lot of options for a great lunch. Staff is friendly and there's tables outside to eat at. In all these years that Sprouts has had 2 stores in Boulder, I apparently never wrote a review for this one. It is less convenient for me and a fairly confusingly laid out store so I rarely use one. But it is the bigger of the two stores and has a wider selection of products and usually more stock on popular things. Recent;y, with all the crises in groceries, I have starting using Sprouts more. They source their items form somewhat different areas than my other stores. I have found elusive items here. I was recently looking for a local product from our favorite Gelato store downtown Gelato Boy. They make pint containers of some basic and popular items. I was missing my favorite summer product, Pineapple blood orange gelato, when I discovered they also make a Blood Orange Sorbet in pints. When it was not at the smaller store and no label to indicate it was a regular item, I came here. It was sold out. I called later that day to ask if they knew when it would be back and asked to be notified. Sure enough, the next day and found a voicemail on my phone that it had come back. Thanks to Jackson in Grocery for the response. The staff member I had asked replied to me. We drove over and picked up a couple of containers. Another time the smaller store was out of something else and suggested I try this store and sure enough they had it. I will continue to use both of the Sprouts in the future but mostly for special items or as a back up to my two old standard stores. It's nice to have choices, as many towns do not. read more

I'm not normally a Sprouts shopper but after after a browse in the health & wellness and the grains/trail mix/candy/nuts (and by the pound!)....I'm a now a believer. The heirloom tomatoes were gorgeous and delicious, I bought more than I needed. I've been enjoying shopping at this store for over seven years. They have amazing sales throughout the year and still have an interesting clearance rack that never ceases to amaze me. They have delicious and reasonably priced catering options for meetings and events (sandwiches, cheese plates, fruit platters, and pastries galore). While the store doesn't consistently honor coupons (in particular the ones received from manufacturers via email that you print at home) there are good deals to be found via their app. Their produce department frequently has hard to find fruits (example passion fruits and jackfruits) with a good variety of both conventional and organic. Staff are friendly and returns are smooth and seamless. If you like deals and bargains as much as me, I recommend not only downloading their app but also signing up for their emails. read more

This is a very clean and organized store. They have a nice selection, though it is smaller so not a huge selection. That being said they have everything for easy recipes and great fruits and vegetables. They are also pretty much the only place in Boulder you can find passion fruit. So I love heading in and getting passion fruit even at weird times of year. Their prices are totally fine on most everything, and the staff is always very friendly. Thank you Phil from produce for not ignoring me and for going out of your way to help me find what I was looking for. I was standing there waiting for a produce employee to finish helping another customer when she just ignored me as I was standing there, she just walked away. I am 240 lbs standing at 6'2 there is not way she didn't see me. Luckily for me Phil was there to help. I drive almost one hour to come here because they have all I need at very affordable prices, is my one stop shop for all my vegetables. There is a super friendly cashier don't remember his name But he was the happiest person I've met in my life. This spot used to house a movie theater when I lived in Boulder. Was hanging around town and came upon this location and decided to check it out. Soooo much nicer than the Denver locations-CO Blvd, and NW Denver-albeit a bit smaller. They are really clean, not terribly busy, even two days before Christmas! This location is not overrun by old people, not that I have anything against them as we will all be there one day soon, but sometimes shopping on CO Blvd, you almost feel like a retirement village bus has just landed with blue hair everywhere and slooooow movers. Great deals on produce, and their produce here seems fresher then in the Denver stores too. Floor is clean, helpful salespeople. The deli is up a few stairs with some grab and go foods, cheeses, sushi, and soups. The parking lot at this location is lame, total Boulder spots that are way too small for any type of car but the smart car. Also, a ton of stores within a small area. Glad that they chose to reuse this space instead of just completely rebuilding. I just wonder what they did with all of those movie seats.?... read more

So I was excited to buy spices and food in bulk here but was informed that they no longer allow customers to bring in their own containers, citing a new state law that requires the use of their plastic bags. This seems ridiculous to me that a place like Colorado would outlaw the environmentally responsible thing to do by bringing your own containers. Also can't find any word of this supposed law on the internet. On top of that I was over charged for spices, which I'll own I made harder but not having the PLU code, but still! I tried to return and get it sorted out, but more or less the employee did not want to help me and I was still over charged for the spices. Sadly I will not be shopping here again even though they have great deals on produce. read more

Used to love this place. Vitamin specialists are great. However a cashier told me I didn't have the correct mask. Seriously?? She starts rattling off all the rules such as don't put anything down in the roller until I say etc., etc. I know honey. Pushes for me to buy their mask. Uh does it have to be a certain color too? I only go here because it's right next to my gym. Otherwise, I'll go anywhere else first. I only shop here for staples in a pinch, so my typical excursion is 4 minutes or less -- until I hit the checkout. The lines are consistently long -- 9 out of 10 times I'll wait 2-3 times as long (as I took to shop) to pay and the cashiers do not hustle in the least. The whole vibe is incredibly leisurely and frustrating. I'm also regularly treated like I'm invisible. Of course, there are eons of employees all over the store and several lanes that are just closed, so it's not like they're lacking in resources. Also, like others have stated, the fruit is frequently almost rotten. Maybe that's why their prices are lower, because they are getting seconds. Like the TJ Maxx of produce, haha! Anyway, with so many options for natural groceries in Boulder, go somewhere else! I recommend Trader Joe's. read more

It's not that the Sprouts Markets are awful - it's the Boulder Arapahoe that is truly awful - the Baseline is much better and the Longmont is actually a pleasant grocery shopping experience. I'd guess that it's the Arapahoe management - the place is dirty, as in filthy - unorganized - many of cashiers throw the items you're purchasing down the table - and the employees just seem unhappy to be working there. Not enough open cashiers - plan on waiting. That's bad management and training. They don't have the smaller carts available in the store - they're left in the parking lot. Last but not least - the first hassle in just going there - the parking is absolutely ridiculous - one-way directional in and out - never an open spot - & small spaces. Sunflower Vs. Whole Foods: The Price Comparison Showdown! So I've noticed my bill always rings up to more than I expect, at SF, given the assumption than this place offers such killer deals. So I did some comparison research between Sunflower and Whole foods and this is what I found: Bread: Cheaper at WF (Alvarado St. Bakery $2.99 at WF, $3.99 at SF Crackers: Cheaper at WF, because Sunflower does no have their own brand like 365 Cheese: WAY cheaper at WF Deli meat: about the same- each have chicken/turkey on sale for $8.99 Bulk stuff: Its really a wash. Oats are cheaper at WF, trail mix is cheaper at SF, nuts are the same Vitamins: The multivitamin that I take (rainbow brand) is cheaper at WF by $2.00 a bottle Produce: This is the only thing that Sunflower consistently has cheaper than Whole foods, but the quality is pretty inconsistent at sunflower. Broth: Chicken, Beef, Veggie, all cheaper at WF ($1.99 vs. $2.19) So, I actually did the math, and the same bag of groceries is CHEAPER at Whole Foods. I don't buy pre-made, pre-packaged frozen meals or canned soups, etc. Most of what I buy is basic ingredients for cooking from scratch. But Whole Foods won. I think Sunflower has better sales, but I just don't have time to run all over town from store to store looking for the best deals. So Whole Foods it is. read more

This is my new favorite grocery store. The prices here are truly 'silly" as they advertise. I wish I could upload a receipt for my last shopping trip here. I purchased more fresh produce than I could consume in two weeks for just over 20 dollars. Literally, the prices are half of major chains like Safeway, and easily a third of the price of Whole Check. Some of the organic produce is prob. almost as expensive as Whole Check, but the regular fruit and vegetables are seriously cheap. They also have a pretty cool meat section, which fresh made daily sausages, skewers,battered fish, etc. If you live in Boulder, check this place out. Also, their coupons runs through Wednesday, and the weeks actually overlap on Wednesday, meaning you can get last week's and this week's deals; crazy savings. read more

I know this is Mike Gilliland's new enterprise, and that the main offices have always been in Boulder, even though the first Sunflower was in South Denver. Mike and Libby Gilliland are the people who started Wild Oats...many years ago...the original WO on Baseline and Broadway in Boulder and all the other Wild Oats that are now morphing into Whole Foods. I was here, at this Sunflower location, on Grand Opening day, April 16. Just missed the special for the first 200 shoppers to enter the store. Oh well...life goes on... Though it's in a relatively compact space and the aisles are a bit narrow, this is a friendly and pleasant store. I did not find prices that were impressively lower than anywhere else, but I'm hearing that other people did, so I must have missed the specials. I'm not very good at shopping in massive crowds, so I plan to go back when it's reasonably uncrowded to try again. And I'll use my special Sunflower bag for a 10 cent discount! (Any bag will do, though, and they also recycle plastic bags here en masse, so feel free to bring in bunches of old plastic bags you've got laying around, too.) Though I tend to prefer Vitamin Cottage, I'm hip to the fact that this place has different sorts of merchandise and a somewhat wider selection. So I'll be back after awhile. read more

Like everything I've seen in Boulder thus far, Sunflower is just so darn cute. This organic, health-bent and high-ceilinged grocery store sits on the foundation that Whole Foods may have been built from. They've got an extensive organic beauty, vitamin and home section like their powerhouse conglomerate cousin and the produce department takes over the largest square footage in the store. The smaller second level area houses a fresh meats and deli section and there's a strong leaning towards local, organic and Colorado grown with everything they sell. Their motto is "Serious Products, Silly Prices" and while it's not as cheap as a real outdoor greenmarket, I'd say that Sunflower is definitely a steal standing next to Holy Foods. read more

If you really look at most of the food at this store it is low quality, regular old highly processed crap. If you look at specific items of high quality they cost the same at Whole Foods. It kinds feel like their thinking is "if we say it's natural and cheap enough times people will think it is." For my buck, if you want standard and cheap go to King Soopers. If you want organic and cheap go to Vitamin Cottage. If you want quality and selection go to Whole Foods. PS This review was removed on a prior occasion. I've decided to give Sunflower a third star because a) I'm in a particularly positive mood 2) had I been there with a different grocery list I may have been a happier customer. So, I was told Sunflower is like a cheap Whole Foods. Ugh, if cheap means lower quality and fewer options then, yes, i suppose it is. I agree that the produce is a steal. But you've got to consume most of it asap, as it seems like it's nearly past it's maturity, as evidenced by the multiple garbage cans filled with expired fruit set up around the produce area. BUT, I did get a couple of organic avocados that were perfectly ripe for eating that day, and they were good. I was advised not to purchase condiments, and as I didn't even find any that I would have like to purchase, I easily took the advice. I even was looking for some ready made fresh guac and the assistant helping me told me NOT to buy the stuff they sell. On a positive note, they do have a fantastic selection of healthy living items like vitamins, neutraceuticals etc. If I lived in Boulder, I'd sure use Sunflower as a place to get cheap, organic produce that's ready to make home made baby food as well as for any meals that I was preparing that day. read more

I do all of my grocery shopping at Sprouts because I believe in the quality they offer for a good price. I appreciate organic produce and the ability to get it without breaking the bank. I've been pleased with every experience I've had here from the friendly staff to the stock of food that they have.
