I have to admit, this store favorite is a bit of a mess right now with a large remodel underway. But please know, many longtime staff members are keeping track for you to help find what you feel has gotten loss. Some items are now where they should as have been, like peanut butter is now next to jam and jelly jars rather than applesauce and baby disposable diapers! Who ever thought up that choice? But now all the chicken is in sealed packages rather than the fresh case. The staff has offered to open a package to sell only a smaller amount but I wonder how likely they will have time for this? A loss for me as I only buy for two people most of the time. Another change is that the olive bar is stand alone and no longer dished out into containers to grab and go. Much more chance of contamination from a different item from another bin. I still prefer this store for many things though both of the smaller Whole Foods location have a usefulness too. The previous in store location of Birdcall is now gone the the free standing location at Twenty Ninth Street Mall is still open and has seating a parking better than when it served here. It's nice to see staff members still working here for 20 years but also nice that some turnover happens for new energy too. This Whole Foods location is large and clean with a good amount of seating if you're a fan of the hot food bar like I am! For about $15-25, you can have a selection of your choice of healthy, delicious food items. That's pretty hard to beat when nowadays it seems like it is getting harder and harder to enjoy a meal without spending at least $40. They also have a separate alcohol section that has a good selection. One thing I would like to point out is their 12 oysters for $12 deal on Fridays. If you're a fan of oysters like I am, this deal is too good to pass up. I am not entirely sure if it is one kind of oyster or if there is a selection but either way $1/oyster is a hell of a deal. read more

This is the largest Whole Foods store I've ever been in, and they even have a separate beer/wine/liquor shop next door. I visited this store when I was on vacation, as it was a short walk from where my husband was training (BJJ). I browsed and also hung out for a bit in the beautiful outdoor patio area. The buffet is full of hot, fresh foods as well as a salad bar, pizza station, and a chicken sandwich "restaurant" inside the store (they also had a vegetarian version of the sandwich, but I didn't try it). The beer/wine/liquor store next door had a great selection with many local products. Unfortunately, we didn't have room in our suitcases to stock up and had to fly back to South Carolina the next day. Discrimination and bullying in a so-called professional environment. I wrote them a letter about this. Gave them every chance to deal with it ethically. Brought them a sensitive community issue regarding discrimination and bullying. Didn't get a response from a manager, a human. Instead got a close-lipped email from a corporate lawyer. Not even responding to the issue, leaving it completely un-addressed. Now the store feels even more inhuman and disconcerting than before. I will choose to get up every day and believe their is good in the world, and do my best to embody it, in spite of what appears before me. I must be the change. This ethical poverty is so sad. Discriminated against for living an alternative lifestyle, for having a disability, for caring about the human species and the direction it is headed. Whole Foods and Amazon milks alot of fiscal value from the apparition of "local" at stores like this yet does not establish an infrastructure that meets that invitation at the ethical level it exists. They still have a historical opportunity to embody a completely different corporate expression if they choose to learn from these moments going forward, about how to create an actual local infrastructure, rather than merely the apparition of such. read more

I was ready to pick them up this afternoon. at WF on Pearl. I just got the email saying that there was "an issue" and my order was cancelled. It says I can reorder the item by clicking the link. Well surprise! It is now $7.99/pound! It smells illegal to me, at least very unethical. One sells a ball at $1. You bought 3 balls at $3. Then the seller says "oops, we have an issue and we cancelled your order. But you can reorder the ball at $5/ball now." Does this sound ethical to you? One of the best places to shop in Boulder, and it is because they have figured out how to manage a huge store and keep it feeling small and customer friendly. It starts with their parking lot, which is ginormous, and the store is located near the CU campus, a brief bus ride from the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall, and it is only a short ride from both Highway 36 and the Diagonal. Google staffers work right across the street and many are regulars. Whole Foods is well-staffed, and their personnel has a good feel for their product and clientele. They are not your typical level of staffers that we are sadly getting used to in many stores. It is a full-service venue, complete with a terrific food selection that is a popular stop for many, offering healthy and tasty options throughout the day and evening. They have multiple dining areas within the store and also feature an outside section that has an awesome sun-drenched view of the Flatirons. Fresh sushi, a deli, soups, pizza, and numerous options highlight the east side of the store, with buffet-style offerings in abundance. The customer service is consistently outstanding, and Amazon Prime members catch great breaks on items throughout the store. read more

Pearl St Whole Foods has been my place literally since they opened, and while things have slowly been going downhill with the Amazon purchase, I still basically enjoyed my one stop shop and the wonderful employees. They still had 90% of my heftly grocery bill....until recently, when they put in extra strong LED lights. I now have to spend a few minutes adjusting and focusing my eyes, the produce looks weirdly unnatural under this lighting, and I'm seriously worried about my son who has epilepsy getting a seizure. Day two: attempt #2, but stir-fry area is closed down due to 'being short-staffed.' Day three: It's a miracle!--they are open and making fresh food. I tell the person working the wok what I would like. She mumbles something unintelligible. I ask again, and she puts down a sheet of paper in front of me and walks away. We came here around dinner time to grab a quick bite from the hot bar. We were expecting to see a larger selection. One of the hot bar lines was not even on/didn't have any food in it. My friend went ahead and ordered something warm from the Chinese counter, and I just picked on some things from the cold bar since there was nothing on the hot bar the looked fresh or anything like that. My issue with Whole Foods is that it is so incredibly expensive for what it is. Our two total meals were about $30.00 and I don't understand why. It really wasn't a lot of food. The Chinese food was way too saucy - and the sauce was so full of soy sauce and sugar. Wow this Whole Foods is a destination experience. I went specifically to check out the Biju's Little Curry Shop located in the fresh foods section on the east end of the store. Biju's has great Indian-inspired food options made from fresh ingredients prepared daily. Today there were great vindaloo, tika and curry options as well as specials on samosas and a beef masala. You can sample whatever looks interesting. Also Biju's does great tailored-menu options for catering events from 5-1000 attendees. read more

This is the largest Whole Foods I have ever been in! It offers so much and everything is so fresh, eye appealing and organized! There are employees everywhere available to help customers which is nice so you aren't waiting around looking for someone to help you. They have an entire bread area with the freshest bread, it was so good! We had our loaf sliced which only took a second, various samples of food including aged cheese are displayed throughout the store. They have a huge area dedicated to providing ready made meals as a Buffett style satisfying virtually any food cravings, again everything looks fresh & delicious! You can get your food to go or you can dine in for lunch as there is ample seating available. They have an express line, a Whole Foods app, reusable bags for purchase & an awesome outdoor play area for toddlers and children. The cashier asked me if I had linked Whole Foods to my amazon prime for additional saving on sale items, I was happy to learn about this and think it's great to add additional savings. Out of all of the Whole Foods, this one is easily my favorite. It is much larger than the others and the hot bar and salad bar are unrivaled. The food is always fresh and hot and well maintained with anything you could want. The surrounding specific stations have mostly anything else with my favorites being the pizza and the ramen stations. The pizza is actually really good for its price, and the ramen station is even better with very good tasting broth and meats. I also really enjoy being able to pretty much build your own being able to gather things from the hot bar and theyll add em to anything for you if they dont have something specific youre looking for. The store is always stocked with everything and kept clean regardless of the time of day. Even going in during the peak times after work or during lunch you can still get in and out pretty quick. If you want any kind of food you want this is the place to do for fresh food, with a vast seafood and meat department and an even larger produce section which is great to get the rarer produce used in some dishes for cooking. Also for fresh pastas like ravioli and tortellini, there is no better place. Overall if you want it fresh this is your place. read more
