Not ADA friendly at all. I am a caregiver for two elderly people who can hardly walk. At the end of the event I pulled the car up to the door to get my clients with walkers. It was all I could do to get them to the wedding. The venue person said I couldnt park there. I expained I wasn't parking but bringing my clients out. He said, "no matter, you have to take your car back to the parking lot until they are outside". So it took me several minutes to go back to the parking lot and walk back. I went into the venue and brought my clients out into the cold then went to get the car. Absolutely no compassion. The attendant was just a kid and seemed indifferent. read more

My response to the venues reply: All I will say is I did not respond negatively to your offer for couples and I don't appreciate any slander of my best wishes for everyone. I am simply happy that the money we lost will go towards helping 10 couples hopefully decrease the cost of their special day when everyone is in need. I sent a private message to you all, and was blocked for it and felt it was time to share my experience. You all will continue to be successful and loved by many. I felt I wanted to share what happened to us and how saddened I was by the outcome. Not once were we offered to reschedule our date and offer our date to a couple who wanted a more intimate wedding in October that could comply with guidelines. My original review: I have waited awhile to write this review because I didn't want to do it out of anger or frustration. While Spruce Mountain is a gorgeous venue and captivating from the moment you arrive, I cannot and will not ever recommend anyone to support this business. We booked our Wedding for October of 2020. I don't need to explain to everyone about Covid, risks, CDC guidelines, restrictions etc that everyone had to endure and figure out last year. I kept close watch on what Spruce Mountain was doing to accommodate their clients during this time. Our wedding would have been around 200 guests, with at least 80% of them traveling from out of state and country. Not only did we feel it irresponsible to try and have a gathering of this size, they wouldn't have been able to accommodate our guest count due to current restrictions (which means they couldn't hold up their end of the contract). I could go on and get sappy about our situation and that we've been together for over 20 years so the wedding was to be a true celebration of our love with our friends and family, but I'll leave those details out for now because they made this strictly business and transactional. I contacted Spruce Mountain at the end of July, about 9 weeks from our wedding date to see what our options would be for postponement (I was inquiring because in an earlier policy they posted online about government restrictions they said a decision couldn't be made until 45 days before the event). I was simply told they were "open for business" and I would be canceling our contract with them. They didn't stop there, they actually tried to explain that our date was a highly desirable date and they wouldn't be able to rebook on short notice. I couldn't believe how insensitive their response was. They didn't address the pandemic , the safety of others. They told me we would be losing our $5000 deposit. They did offer a 20% discount for a new contract in 2021 (and reminded me it was booking up quickly). I understand this pandemic was unprecedented and affects all types of businesses.. I am not oblivious to that fact. I am, however still absolutely stunned that such a successful venue wouldn't work with couples to try and salvage their most special day and deal with each couple on a case by case basis. I wasn't asking for any money to be refunded, just for a change in our date because of safety for everyone. All of my other vendors were absolutely amazing and compassionate and probably struggled even more than the venues that charge so much to rent their properties. As I said before, Spruce Mountain is very pretty and I left the day we chose the venue in tears because I was so happy it would be the place I walked down the aisle to the man I love. However, I also cried many tears in disbelief at the unwillingness to waiver during such a crazy and unsafe time to have large gatherings. I write this review in hopes that if someone wants to sign a contract with this venue, they know what they are getting in to. If we had asked to post pone due to a family issue or something out of control but only affected us, I would have been disappointed but understanding of losing our deposit. This was not the case, it was and is a situation where I would hope everyone would work together for the best outcome for everyone involved and for the celebration of true love. read more

We recently had our daughter & son-in-law's wedding venue cancel one month before the wedding. We reached out to Spruce Mountain Ranch for help and they delivered. The wedding venue is Colorado through and through; beautiful views, great interior hall with dancing outside on a large patio. The bride got ready in a historic home while the groom had a great room with pool table & bar. The wedding ceremony was outside in the gardens and somehow Spruce Mountain Ranch provided perfectly stormy clouds with no rain. I had my wedding here. Spruce mountain Ranch is gorgeous! It is an extraordinary wedding venue. With that being said, PLEASE be careful about who they assign to be your PROPERTY MANAGER for the day of. This is randomly assigned and you will not know until the day of your wedding! We had Jen (or Jessica... can't recall but it was a J name) She was so awful. Horrible attitude. She apparently actually talked sh*t during my entire wedding ceremony to another vendor, or her assistant. My bridesmaids could hear it! Fortunately I was so consumed in the moment by getting married she did not bother me at the time. She was extremely rude to my guests and was anything but helpful. Advice: lockdown someone who knows how to be a professional and behave appropriately at a wedding, especially if you are getting married at such a nice, expensive pla. Aside from that, I would highly recommend Spruce Mountain. read more

Our review is based on our tour (or lack thereof). We scheduled a tour and drove from Fort Collins. The email I received back said the tour would be at 12:30, I alerted her we may be early depending when the other tour finished. When we got there, there were no signs for where to go so we drove around until we found something that looked like the pictures online, I guess it was the "upper venue". They had a maintenance man there who said we could wait downstairs, the tours usually started at the Upper Venue so the tour guide should be there soon, then he texted her. At 1:00 PM, he came down again and turned the lights on for us and said we could walk around. So we did, we didn't know what was what or where anything would go, because we had no tour guide. We left a 1:15 PM, 45 minutes after our tour should start. I got an email from the tour guide about an hour later, saying we didn't find the tour guide who was at the lower venue. We couldn't even find a lower venue, much less we didn't know to go there. We weren't sent a map or anything. She said she waited by the front at 12:30, but that didn't help since we arrived closer to 12:15 like I said we might. The venue was pretty, it comes off as a cattle ranch that does weddings. Not just a wedding venue. UPDATE: Responding to the comment from the venue, my early arrival was not a last minute request. I said it in an email 3 weeks prior, that we may arrive between 12:00-12:15. I think sending a PDF map to clients, telling them where to meet for tours would be helpful. I didn't see the map they are referring to, but I would have known to look for it had I been told in the email where to meet the tour guide and where the map was. read more

This is a beautiful event location. I attended a wedding here over the weekend and it was absolutely gorgeous property and buildings. They seem to have paid attention to details when designing and building the structures on the property. It was more than your basic wedding hall. The grounds were also well kept. The space is also pretty diverse and I feel like it could work well with many different types of decorations and brides visions for their wedding day. read more

Attended a wedding and reception at Spruce Mountain Ranch this past weekend and it was gorgeous! This picturesque ranch set up wooden church pews for the guests in the meadow (very Martha Stewart!) and a rustic arbor that the bride and groom stood under. The cows in the background were perfect for a Colorado wedding, too. I was very impressed with the staff who ensured every guest felt welcomed, and the food was delicious! (Every wedding menu should include mac & cheese, the ultimate comfort food.) I'm not sure who bakes the pies for the ranch but the blackberry pie should be on every couple's dessert list. And congratulations to DJ and Annissa, the newlyweds! :) read more

Absolutely a picturesque backdrop for our September wedding. Spruce Mountain Ranch (SMR) is a combination (balance) of comfortable and intimate. SMR venue quickly rose to the very top of our list for our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. If you are serious about a place that accommodates your style and personality, SMR is an excellent venue. We selected the Lower Ranch (Albert's Lodge, Colorado Room, Ames Patio and Grace's Chapel) for our wedding and it was immaculate and perfect for our guests. You need to do a little work in finding vendors but it is worth the time and energy to create your special wedding. We are in our 50s and confident in our ability to make selections on caterers/beverages, entertainment, and décor; however, an event coordinator is also required for, at minimum, day-of the event and we are happy that we selected one especially as we were planning our wedding during the initial COVID months. The SMR staff is efficient in responding to emails and provided as much information as possible. We planned for more than a year and everything to include the weather, executed to near perfection. The venue staff was ready and prepared with everything to include setup, sanitation stations, and cleanup. Our guests commented about how stunning the location is and how the staff ensured compliance with COVID requirements while allowing guests to feel safe and healthy throughout the day into the evening. We are grateful to Tara and her staff for the many ways that you made our wedding day the most special event of our lives. read more

My daughter and son-in-law had a picture perfect wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch in September 2018. Our group of 220 took over the upper ranch and we had all the space -- and more -- that we needed. The venue is ideal, whether the weather is blue bird Colorado sky -- as it was for us! -- or inclement and you need to move indoors. The staff cater to your every need and are quick to fix any issues if they arise. (When the bridal party arrived the morning of our wedding we discovered the water wasn't running, but the staff moved quickly to get it restored.) All the vendors we hired told us how much they like working at SMR so that tells you a lot about what a great place it is. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend SMR to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding venue that is run with the utmost professionalism. read more

We recently held a wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch. This place is drop dead gorgeous! Be very careful who your Property Manager is! We had Jen, she was incredibly rude. She was not helpful in any way, all she did was stand around with her arms folded looking very cranky. When the wedding party arrived there was no one around to direct us where to go, no lights on, it was a ghost ranch. After several minutes she appeared out of no where saying, "Oh I didn't know there was a wedding this morning otherwise I would have turned the lights on. Sorry." WHAT?? We were here the day before for the rehearsal for crying out loud!! When we arrived on the day of the wedding there was a chalkboard sign with poorly written wording for our name. That was it for directions. We had 100 guests and only 1 shuttle driver. Needless to say, the wedding ran over 30 minutes late. To top it all off we were pushed out to make way for a far more important wedding party.... as they had rented the place for the day. We paid $950/hour for this place. Jen single-handedly almost ruined our daughters wedding day. read more

Amazing venue and staff! We got married August 2018 on the mountainside near Alberts Lodge. The groom suite and Ruby's cottage are SO amazing for getting ready. All our bridesmaids and groomsmen loved the space. Our guests loved the venue too! Very Colorado and rustic, which is exactly why we chose Spruce Mountain. SMR is beautiful, bottom line! I just had my wedding there at the end of April and am still daydreaming. I live in another state so I planned it from a distance which didn't matter at all. Throughout the entire process Tara and her team couldn't have been more responsive and helpful. She helped me select the perfect team of vendors for my theme and budget as well as answered any and all questions I had along the way. The wedding day came together perfectly and it was a magical day. The flexibility of the venue by having an indoor option if it rains as well as having 2 outdoor ceremony sites is awesome. Spruce Mountain Ranch is an optical illusion. We looked at several wedding venues and selected Spruce Mountain as the place to create our family memories. Now that the event is over I look back and imagine the wedding in the other venues we considered. None of them would have come close to the atmosphere, beauty, class and level of service we experienced with SMR. The wedding pictures came out today and they are absolutely stunning, indoor and outdoor settings. The upstairs area for the Bride and Bridesmaid to prepare has separate makeup rooms with open windows that look out to the event space. This was magical. As the ladies prepped for the day they could see the vendors setting up the event below and everything coming together before their eyes. It does not get any better in terms of build up, excitement and all day immersion leading up to the most important point in two peoples lives.
