If I could I would leave a 0 star. DO NOT USE THIS COMANY AT ALL COSTS! When Spruce took my solar over from Sunnova I had hope they would fix my broken system/panels. Boy was I WRONG! At the start of February 2025 I was notified with proof of broken panels on my roof from a cleaning company. I tried to get Sunnova to fix them but they didn't. Spruce took over and took my case over. On 11/7/2025 Robert from the Spruce Power Homeowner Support team reached out for all my documentation which I provided via email. On 11/14/2025 I received this email "Thank you for sending the photographs of your solar equipment. I am happy to report that your system is now operating normally. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 888-636-0336. Regards, Robert Thank you, Spruce Support Team". I quickly responded puzzled that my system and broken panels were fixed without sending any tech out to replace them. Obviously I did not hear back from Robert, so I called. They informed me that if my system was showing 70% or higher of production they would not send anyone out. This was the last I heard from the company except for my monthly invoice. On Jan 8th 2026 I received this email: "Hi, Sunnova previously opened a work order for your solar system. However, as Sunnova is no longer servicing your Spruce-owned system, all service responsibilities have since been transitioned to Spruce Power. Upon review, it appears you had a previously opened work order which may still require assistance. Before we proceed, we need to confirm with you that you are still experiencing these issues as reported. If your service concerns still require attention, please call 888-636-0336, or reply to this email. At that time, we will also request you provide a photo of your inverter and meter equipment (likely located on the side of your house). Thank you so much for your assistance in confirming your servicing needs, and we look forward to further supporting you." I told this customer service I already provided all this information in November with no response, but I provided the information and I still have 0 reply 6 weeks later. The Spruce Solar company does not disclose that they bill two months in the rear. As a Realtor, clients who are purchasing a home with leased or PPA solar with Spruce is unknowingly agreeing to paying for solar usage when they did not own the home. After trying to speak with several agents with Spruce, they are aware that the information is not disclosed in their contract and are also unapologetic. I included a piece of their transfer contract that discusses payments. When pressed, the escalation officer could not explain how the contract clearly explains the new owner will be liable for months of the previous owners power usage(if PPA). The general public needs to be made aware of this and Spruce needs to amend their contract to properly disclose such information. Someone should not be on the hook for paying for someone else's usage when they didn't even own the home. All other solar companies will prorate the amount, so the buyer doesn't pay for any usage until what they've accrued after they've owned the home. For the photo, #2 is explaining payments. "Which may be based on estimated generation" implies that the bill is not yet generated of usage and they'll assume what you'd owe. If that's the case this would clearly mean the seller will pay up to the last day of their usage. Nowhere does it say their billing is two months in the rears. read more

Do not deal with Spruce Power. Terrible customer service with customer service representatives who seem to be incapable of understanding the stress of selling a home, or the confusion of not dealing with solar power companies every day. They are deceptive and duplicitous and everything has to be emailed with the proper form ahead of 2-4 business days before responses. I've been trying to get Spruce Power to tell me, or the mortgage/title company where to send the prepayment of the solar lease. They've put me in a potentially endless cycle of emailing them specific documents (without indicating if they received what they need) ahead of having 2-4 business days for them to respond. They've done this twice now. Once to request the prepayment amount and now for the wiring instructions. Literally, all I want to do is pay them money at the amount they requested and it's been at least two weeks waiting on this information because apparently a human can't give their customers this information. I've never said or implied they were asking too large a sum of money. I just want to give them the money they say I owe them to complete the sale of the house (which closed last week as I have repeatedly informed Spruce). I guess I will call them back later today to see what their story is this time. I will also be shopping for a lawyer if they can't resolve this tomorrow (which is somehow 2-4 business days after submitting the second batch of info they wanted last week and then paying some other fee that they didn't include in the original information, and which I offer d to pay last week (but the terrible customer service rep forgot to take from me). Based on the reviews here it seems like a class action law suit might be the only recourse against this company. Also going to file with the BBB, but I'm sure it won't matter. read more

This company is a scam. For over 3 years, Spruce Power been playing games with us. At least 6 out of the 20 panels are NOT generating power. The system is only producing about 60%, well short of the 90% thresholds that the industry promises. They took over ADT systems and I was contacted by Spruce after they signed a partner agreement with ADT. That said they needed to close out some permitting paperwork that ADT did not complete with the city. I spoke to the person that emailed me and they said they'd research the issues and get back to me. I pulled the permits on the city system myself. It took all of 15 minutes. I found one that expires in less that 30 days. I emailed it and all the other permits to the Spruce Asset Operations rep that contacted me. Stated there was a time limit on response. No response in over a week. Tried phoning Asset Operations. I was disconnected 5 times in 6 hours after holding and being told by a recording that the wait was less than 5 minutes multiple times. I t+ried the 'call me back option' and never got a call back. Absolute worst company I have dealt with in a while. read more

Spruce Power will not provide service as needed when requested until many months after request.Spruce Power took months to replace solar panels that went bad. The Inverter went bad Spruces Power contracted Energy Aid to replace inverter after many months. Energy Aid wiring was faulty and wires burnt. Spruce Power took 5 months to fix the burnt wiring and that is only because I filed a complaint with the Arizona State Attorney General office. I have to increase from zero to two stars. Spruce did have a contractor replace all my panels. They were 12 years old and about 4-6 panels a year were failing and the production was below the guarantee. Of course I have nothing good to say about the process of this happening, nonetheless they have been replaced. Keep complaining, file complaints with the BBB every time you have an incident. Sooner or later they might get to you. For me, they made a showing, maybe I'm the fortunate one? They have no repair people local in New York and they have to try and locate someone local to work on the system which could take weeks . I also sold me house and tried to tranfer the lease over to the new buyer and that was nightmare . 6 months in and still can't resolve the issue of transfer . One issue is everytime you call CS you speak with a differnt person and have to explain everything over again. my system has been down from a burned up wire that spruce is bound by contract to fix. they have told me there's a part on order for 3 months now and they still want to be paid for a system that is not producing power and are threatening to turn me over to collections. I would never purchase or rent solar from this company based on my current experience with this company's customer service. My father passed away and I am the court appointed representative of his estate and i have tried now for a month to get his account transferred to the estate.Though I have provided all the information requested and now have had three service ticket numbers with emails that claims someone will contact me in 1-2 Buisness day which does not happen i have called four times to get answers but I am told that because I am not on the account they can't help me. Dear Spruce Power, I am writing to formally express my extreme frustration and disappointment regarding the ongoing issue with my solar panel system, which has been non-operational since March due to a faulty inverter. The only reason I became aware of this issue was because I received a very large electric bill--something that should not happen given that I have a solar panel system installed. After having someone come out to inspect the system, I was informed that the inverter was not working. Since April, I have been calling and following up regularly. Each time, I am told the same thing: that the part is available, I'm on the dispatch list, and there is no further information available. It is now August, and nothing has been done. This is unacceptable. I have incurred months of high electricity bills as a result of this delay--costs I should not be paying. The original company that managed my system was responsive and proactive. Since your company took over, the level of service has dropped dramatically. At this point, I am demanding the following: Immediate scheduling and repair of the inverter--no more delays. Compensation or reimbursement for the excessive electric bills I've paid while my system has been down. A written explanation for the prolonged delay and lack of communication. If this matter is not resolved immediately, I will be forced to escalate this issue to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), state utility regulators, and consider legal action for failure to uphold service obligations. Spruce Power has continued to bill us estimated rates when they could not communicate with the system. During this time solar power was not being sent back to the grid, therefore we were paying both the Spruce bill and the higher rates of PG&E (California utility). Have tried multiple times to resolve the issue in good faith. They will not communicate in writing, and they will not escalate the matter except to their collections department. I suggest heeding the advice of all negative reviews and staying away from them. If you already have Spruce and are experiencing problems, file complaints with every agency you can think of that can put pressure on this company. I have sent demand letters, notice of breach of contract letters, customer abandonment letters, etc and intend to pursue binding arbitration as soon as deadlines allow. Two of my panels are not working. When the first one stopped Spruce Power sent me parts and I was going to have to pay another company over $700.00 to fix the panel. I wouldn't do this and Spruce power was of no help. Now the second panel is out and I was given a case number and told a service provider would be in touch. Two weeks later I called again and was given a second case number and asked to take photos of all the equipment which I submitted. Two more weeks and my third call and I was told that no repairs would be made because I was above my guaranteed production level. Even after threatening to halt any future lease payments I received a polite "too bad" and that was my prerogative. Now I see why there are so many lawsuits against this company. read more

This place really needs to get it's act together. Since NJRCEV was taken over by Spruce in April, I have been billed incorrectly two out of two times. First, I was charged tax. New Jersey is tax exempt for solar panel service. The second time I was charged $2.00 for a paper statement. I had previously received confirmation that I would be billed $0 because I enrolled in paperless statements. This seems to be a problem with Spruce's billing procedures. I was told via phone that I would receive a credit of $2.00 per month and it would take 3-4 months before my account receives a credit. We'll see about that. read more

We purchased our home and took over the solar lease through Spruce Solar, based in Texas. One month into the lease the system failed. Our contract clearly stated that Spruce would be responsible for maintenance and repairs as required. After dozens of phone calls and promises from Spruce, they finally sent over service, two months later Service immediately shut down our system stating an electrical component burned up in the inverter and stated we were lucky that our home didn't burn down. The system remained down for 16 months. I called almost every week, only to get We understand, We are sorry, We are working on it, Can not find parts, Work order sent for a repair estimate, Waiting for estimates, Estimate too high, sending to another contractor, lost part, and reordering part. 16 months into our lease they finally replaced the inverter, which failed within a week. I filed reports with every solar oversight group I could find. Calls went ignored, until I received a call from a rude person (advocate?) stating they will be cancelling my lease, which still had eight years on it. He stated that it was too expensive to repair compared to what the lease would yield. I received another call from the Advocacy group asking for a decision. I said YES, why would I stay with such a lousy company, and paperwork was sent. I definitely had firm grounds to sue, but didn't want to deal with finding and paying a lawyer until it was settled. Do Not use this company for anything. I later receive a message from another customer of Spruce who did sue them. After 2 years she stated they finally were reimbursed for the system. When you call in the people can not help. They have no authority to do anything. When you ask for a manager most of the time they will not transfer you. The few times they have The manager just says they are looking into it, and they are escalating your case. Literally means nothing. I was able to get a few responses by email, but again they are blanket replies. They just say my case is being reviewed, LOL. Seriously for 2 years!!! This place has been a nightmare since they took over I guess the supposed servicing of our solar contract. They are so bad..I have requested a payoff quote repeatedly just to pay them off and get away from their horrible service and I have yet to receive a payoff amount. The panels I have are not performing as I was once promised in original contract and now I owe Edison 5k once a year to cover their crappy broken panels!! They will not show up to service the panels and their billing has been an absolute nightmare!! I am very open to a class action lawsuit and if anyone knows how to get one started against Spruce..please let me know!! A third-party contractor came out and knows what the issues are. Now, Spruce Power waited a solid two months and decided not to pay the third-party. Well, there is no surprise to me that there are more than enough complaints about Spruce Power here. My parent's system was overtaken by Spruce and boy oh boy what a mess. The system has been showing off-line for almost a year! PG&E have reporting of power generating but there is no way of knowing what is correct. They will not offer a buyout number without starting the process... My parents are in their 80's and I can't imagine the situation if I had not started handling this what Spruce would have done. I filed a complaint with the Utilities Commission. (California). I suggest everyone do this in their state. This company is a joke. I wouldn't work with them if it wasn't part of a home purchase. Our agreement dated August 2024 says: "Seller's final payment under the SA shall be for the month in which the Transfer Date occurs (which may be based on estimated generation). Buyer's first payment shall be for the month following the Transfer Date." These guys wants us to pay the August bill for July Production claiming that the due date for the bill created in August 1 is September 1. So, why should I pay the August bill for July production when I don't even have an electricity account for the home that I buy in August? Their customer service chat and phone is useless since they claim they use due date not bill date which is not mentioned anywhere in the agreement.
