Purchased a sectional and console table from the Ocean store. Was a good experience, price was fair, delivered an a few weeks. Good quality.

Live and learn! My husband and I were thrilled when we found the "palette" furniture sold at Squan Furniture and meet Mike our salesman to purchase are custom-made palette furniture. Mike our salesman said We pick from their selection styles ,woods , colors, and they create your furniture. We purchased a high top table seating for 8. Then went back 2 weeks later and order a matching buffet / server. Mike also reviewed the order with the manager who gave full approval of my selections - who I later dealt with on numerous occasions, his name has slipped my mind because I probably choose to forget the bully in the room. The table arrived. Craftsmanship was good not great as they portrayed the product (and not for the price) the seats were leather covering did I say that right covering. No that's not what it is, the leather seat looked like a moveable cushion on top of the seat, but it was stationary. We ordered fully covered seats. The two tone chairs we order to match the table and the buffet did not happen. They were stained 1 color! Let's remember this furniture is supposed to be built to our specifications custom furniture. The buffet arrived, this time the craftsmanship was disappointing. Repairs were required which due to covid and only 1 repair part time person for Squan took months! And let me say oh how oblivious Mike became to everything once there were problems! Bottom line is the product was wrong after they took payment and delivery made we were told I could NOT get the table and chairs as ordered, it's not an option. Funny how it was an option as they were taking our money!!!!! I literally was bullied into accepting the table and chairs at a discount, which is a ridiculous price for not custom furniture. They could not reorder the product as originally ordered they would NOT give a refund / return, so I was bullied into a discount. Everyday I sit at this table aggravated that we were taken advantage of. I wish I never walked in there! read more

Horrible customer service. Terrible quality in their furniture. we bought a kitchen set with them just last year. Set was delivered with a big peel mark on it. The set is gray and the delivery person wanted to touch it up with brown. Then they send us a new tabletop for the same thing to happen. It began to peel and we were told that we should put something under dishes before we eat and not to drag anything across it. They will not stand behind their garbage. Disgusting. Save yourself the aggravation and shop elsewhere. read more

The worst customer service I have ever encountered. They delivered my grey couch but sent beige pillows with it when I called to exchange the pillows I was told they would not replace them even though they had the grey pillows in the store. I bought a Brown Leather Recliner Couch with Recliners on each end. The first one was defective and was replaced. The second one was damaged. They brought me a third one. I think it was the one from the Show Room in Toms River NJ. The Recliner on the one end looks like it was used. Also the two back's of the couch on each end are higher then the middle. I called Customer Service to ask if it was the floor model and was told no. I still feel it was the floor model and I think if it is they should take something off. read more

#1. Do not dare to step into the store when they are close to closing. #2. They close at 6pm on Tuesdays. Maybe other days as well but I'll never go back to find out. Okay, so I walked in to look for basically a house full of furniture. I have just moved from a small, furnished apartment in L.A. to a large home in the area. Not thinking any furniture store would close at 6pm, I walked in after browsing at the other big box stores. Well, a short, bald, impatient little man came running over to inform me that they close in 5 minutes. Ok. I apologize for keeping him and proceed to the showroom (4 minutes to go, right?). He follows me the whole way and let's me know that the back end of the showroom has already begun shutting off the lights. So, what you really need to know besides an owner/mgr/salesperson (?) not giving a crap about you, is that the section does not make this place stand out at all. Yes, I only spent 5 minutes there. But in that short stroll through the store I saw nothing that raymour and flannigan or Ashley don't sell for much cheaper. Trust me, I was hoping for something different. I hate the big box styles and I don't want to pay restoration hardware prices. Was hoping for a good middle ground. On my way out, before I even hit the front door, short, bald guy yelled out to someone in the back, "START SHUTTING DOWN!" We were treated like family and A LOT of time and attention was paid to find us the perfect fit for our new home. Right before COVID hit I purchased a couch at squan. A very expensive couch. I was even stupid enough to buy the insurance. The snake oil salesman saw me coming and I fell for his BS. I am old enough to know better but I thought by buying at Squan I was getting a better business persona that cared about their customers. I was specific with my needs -and explained I needed a durable couch with equally durable fabric. I have two dogs and I was abundantly clear about that. FF, I get the couch super fast and I thought how lucky I was. This was March. By April the couch started showing wear. I contacted Squan and they sent the mfg to investigate. I was told that it was normal for fabrics to pill and there was nothing they could do for me. I spent 2k+ on this couch was told to buy a tool at Joanne's to depill the couch. Back and forth I went with the cs rep who claims the fabric was a durable one and that there was nothing she could do since they discontinued the fabric. However since she felt bad, she replaced Two cushions( wonder where they found that lot) All I can say is don't shop there. Don't trust them. I forgot to mention they told me the insurance doesn't cover the piling and I even got a lesson on how to take the fibers off. Lesson learned. read more

Toms River Store - Great Sales help; Poor service. We bought furniture in the Toms River Store. Salesman was very helpful. When the items were delivered however, several pieces were damaged. Called the Toms River store for help. Service said that 2 different people would handle the repairs; 1 for fabric and 1 for wood issues. Told them that we could only accommodate service on the weekends, as we live 100 miles away. They said it wasn't an issue. The individual repairing the fabric called about 3 weeks later and said he doesn't work on weekends. Still never heard from wood repairman. Called the store service dept. again, and was told he would follow up, but he never did. Went to the Toms River Store on 6/23 and confronted the salesman and service mgr. They were totally unsympathetic and offered no apology. I guess this is why God made lawyers. read more

I really enjoyed shopping at Squan. I went to countless large stores only to be so confused. At Squan, I was given undivided attention and great ideas to help me focus on what I wanted. I ordered a sofa custom made. Sofa with side chaise. Very nice. I would go back for future purchases. read more

The SQUAN FURNITURE staff, and "Mike" in particular, have no idea of customer service. I asked for an adjustment on my order, and the Dave and Mike became abrasive. Mike called me a "bitch" and "mother fucker" in response to my request. The male staff is strongly misogynist, quickly resorting to abusive language, and making a reminder that they are not Macy's. Shoppers, stick with Macy's for customer service. read more

Extremely disappointed in the response received from Carol Jean regarding our Klaussner electric recliner. Within 1 year and 11 days the foam within the chair has shifted causing it to clump up and now a tear at one of the seams of the upholstery. The store offered zero assistance in rectifying the problem. Shop elsewhere, stores that do not stand behind their products and offer no recourse other than to say your 1 year warranty is up do NOT deserve your business. JN Tinton Falls read more

We ordered a Chair that was over 600 dollars. We were told 45 days and it did come as promised to the warehouse. However when we got to the warehouse we checked to make sure that it was the correct chair. It wasn't. There was a mistake at the factory. We called and spoke to the representative who offered us to use the incorrect chair until the correct one came in. We decided that would have been fair and would return the chair when the correct one came in. I was put on hold and transferred to their "Customer care rep" She told us that the chair we were promised to use was already loaded onto the truck and was leaving on Thursday. We had this conversation Monday. When I asked to pull it off the truck she said "We can't do that" I asked her why and I got no explanation other than "we just cant" I understand mistakes happen. But to promise me a chair to use in the meantime only to go back on it is unprofessional and the woman started to get upset with me when her only excuse was "because we can't, that's why" I will NEVER go back, not so much for the mistake but how it was handled after the matter. read more

I wanted to let everyone know what a GREAT experience I had buying furniture from Squan, I wouldn't go anywhere else. My salesman Mike was great gave me space and good suggestions, really worked at understanding my objective. I bought the furniture early and upon delivery realized the coffee and end table we're too large for the space. I decided to go in and see if anything could be done, Dan was a dream. He said don't worry we'll work it out it happens. Boy I didn't expect that response. I picked out a new coffee table and two days later they picked up the old and dropped off the new. No fuss. Go to Squan for furniture you won't be sorry, and it's way bigger than it looks!!!! read more

I am extremely disappointed and unsatisfied with my purchase and customer service I have received. I should start by saying I am a return customer and will not be returning after this purchase. I had visited Squan Furniture multiple times over the last few months trying to find the perfect pieces to fit my very small family room (8' X 16'). On my last visit Karen greeted me and proceeded to help me pick out what I thought would be perfect pieces for my very small family room. On our first introduction I explained to her my dilemma with the size of my room, she reassured me with her 20 some years in the interior and furniture business this would not be a problem, I trusted her, I guess that was my first mistake. I choose a Klaussner sofa based on the dimensions and a chair and a half also Klaussner. I asked about an ottoman for the chair, there wasn't one on the floor so I was unable to see it but Karen reassured me once again that it would be perfect in my very small room. I might add I told her and mentioned the size of my room multiple times and what other pieces of furniture would also be in the room because well she has all this 20 some years of experience of course. Without seeing the ottoman and she never giving me the measurements of the ottoman I am now stuck with an over $400 piece of furniture that does not fit in my room or anywhere else in my house. On arrival I was extremely upset because this was not right, after all I did give Karen the dimensions of my room. I called the store immediately and spoke to Customer Service, she pretty much told me in a polite manner that I was screwed and that I was stuck with a piece of furniture that there sales person ordered never disclosing the dimensions to me and charging me over $400 for it. I was also told because this was a "Special Order" there was nothing she could do. I don't know when my order became a "Special Order" nor was I ever told that it was. I ask to please have Karen call me, to this day I have not received a call from her. In conclusion if Karen would stop talking and trying to be a best friends and listened to the needs of her customers this most likely would have never happened and I would continue to be a return customer, instead I'm stuck trying to sell a piece of furniture the size of a small child's bed because of the incompetence of there so called seasoned sales person. We are ( or rather WERE) repeat customers of Squan Furniture in Oakhurst NJ! We won't be going back! We got a "fine grain leather" (according to Squan)couch and loveseat from them 5 years ago! In the past month or so, we noticed that red is starting to come through the brownish red color in spots where we sit the most! From everything I've read or googled, real leather should never do that ! They say it must be fake or dyed leather! I asked Squan and they said absolutely not, it is "fine grain genuine leather". I called their leather man and he too was baffled by it! I wrote letters to the manufacturer HTL manufacturer (twice) which they have not acknowledged! Squan says the warranty is up and these were floor models! I get that! Does that mean my couch should turn red and look like crap now? I've taken care of it per their original instructions, using leather cleaner once a month or so to keep the leather soft! All we do is SIT ON IT!!i feel like, at the very least, they or the manufacturer should stand behind their products, pay to have or repaired! I am so disappointed and disillusioned by their response! Buyer Beware!!! We tried to support a local business vs going to a large retail store and got burned. The store has a no return policy and is completely inflexible if the furniture does not work out. The owner actually had the audacity to say to my face "its not my problem." They are not customer focused at all. I offered to take a loss and pay a restocking fee. They wanted to charge me 50%. He made it like he was doing me a favor in allowing me to exchange and then tried to charge me the same price for a smaller table with only 4 chairs vs 6 from the same line (a retail value of 1K lower). We will sell the furniture on our own and tell everyone we know to stay away. read more

Would have given a "0" but not an option... purchased a couch and love seat in Fall 2017 for a Summer home. To date, older couple has spent every 3rd weekend at house. Material on couch and love seat appear to be "shedding" for the fabric, maybe from the down filling (some feathers are visible and can be pulled out) but also some grassy tan threads. Call Squan Furniture to help us figure out what is going on. They say someone from the "Factory" will come out to investigate. Since this is a summer home, the appointment times are not easy. The Factory guy shows up at house anyway without owners being home and is let in by contractor without owners permission. Factory guy investigates and takes pictures (without owner on property). No word from Squan Furniture or Factory guy. Call Factory guy; says we will be hearing from Squan Furniture. No word from Squan Furniture. Call Squan Furniture; say I can't talk to anyone but Customer Service guy will call me back. Customer Service calls us and says our furniture is "filthy" (how ironic, since that is what prompted my call to begin with; Rocket Science). Customer Service guy says they will do nothing -- no further investigation, no more consideration -- because we must have done something to make the furniture "filthy." So, where do I go from here?! Well, YELP is my 1st Step. Letting my neighbors and friends know about this experience is Step 2. There are now other steps I can take like reporting to the Better Business Bureau, etc. but none of which is actually going to get the problem with our furniture resolved. The lesson in all of this is that if you want to buy from a local vendor, then make sure the local vendor gives you the same service that a big franchise store would give you. As for Squan Furniture, don't count on it! read more
