We managed to hurry past it on the way to lunch, but I knew there was no way we were getting back to the ferry without going inside. Not with a two-year-old, a five-year-old, and my mother in our crew. To our kids' credit, I wanted to get them a souvenir, or at least allow their grandma to buy them something small with my supervision (she can't be trusted on her own). The store was colorful and appealing, and I couldn't deny my boys the pleasure of a quick, moderate visit. Calico was well stocked with toys and games, and my two-year-old immediately went for a giant cement mixer set that would board the ferry out over my dead body. I told the kids and my mom that they could buy one toy each, and that it would have to be something we could easily take home. There was a large selection of stuffies at the front of the shop, and I strongly encouraged them to find something in that area. Our older son obligingly picked an adorable baby turtle, but his brother refused every little stuffie I offered. Instead, he found a cheap disposable pinwheel that cost $3.99. He's been obsessed with fans for about half of his life and apparently, the pinwheel counted. My brother and sister-in-law got a couple baby toys for their babies and we went on our way, all the kids happy with their loot. We've been home for over a week and the baby turtle, now named Baby Turtle, has a place of honor in our five-year-old's bed. The pinwheel pops up in random spots in our house, sometimes waved with aggression in front of our faces. I liked Calico Toy Shoppe and would definitely shop there if I lived on Bainbridge Island. I'd recommend stopping in if you're visiting with kids. It's a great place to pick up a little souvenir.

When we walked into the store, we were struck by the vast amount of stock on the floor and on the shelves for a relatively small place. But, my wife found the perfect gift for the child and at a very good price. She also found two sets of Magna Tiles, which are very popular with the older daycare kids--at prices that beat Amazon's. The ladies on duty were warm, friendly and welcoming. It's just a nice, no-stress place to shop with fair prices. Judging by how many customers filled the store, a lot of people feel this same way. My wife used to buy those birthday gifts here in town at a local supermarket that apparently will no longer sell toys. We are very glad of that decision and of our tax person's suggestions. We're going back this weekend to buy those Magna Tiles.

I didn't know what to expect but was super surprised by how much cool stuff the store had! I was looking for a gameboy game but ended up finding about 10 things I wanted to buy on my next visit. They had tons of old toys that I used to have or have been wanting to get from pretty niche series like Monsieur Bome, Masamune Shirow figures, and even my old favorite army vehicles from Mega Force. The owner was playing Pokemon on the big screen when I walked in but was super helpful and friendly. I am definitely a fan of this place and will stop by any chance I can get when I'm down in the area.

I'm a little disappointed with myself that I was not aware of this shop in all this time I've resided in Tacoma. They have a neat interesting variety of toys and video games. This review is going to focus on my interaction with Alex and Alex from a seller's standpoint. I have a fair amount of collectibles and there were a couple action figures I was looking to (reluctantly) unload (a 1983 Inspector Gadget doll and a NECA Ada Wong to be exact). I had looked online and consulted various other stores in the area and the few offers I had received were far from fair. I'm happy to report that Alex and Andy knew the market and what my items were going for online. We even looked them up together. We had some obligatory endearing haggling and in the end they offered me a fair price for my beloved items. They were the only store that I had spoken with in the local area that were not only fair in their evaluation but even in the same league as the market value. They even appreciated the items as much as I did so I knew they would end up in a good home. Again, I only wished I knew about them sooner. I will definitely keep them in mind for the future when I inevitably decide to sell some cherished childhood treasures. Cheers, guys.

We spent a good half hour or so in there, and could've easily spent another hour! What's good too, is that the sales associates didn't hassle us at all. Asked what we were looking for, pointed us in the right direction, and just let us look around and discover!
