This place is absolutely adorable. It has items for every age. Even my sister and I had fun looking and playing with everything. My sons both found several trinkets and toys and fun things to take home. I love all their dress up stuff. You need to check it out. Specially since Xmas is right around the corner. Friendly staff, loads of interesting toys, books, stuffed animals, and crafts. I was looking specifically for Schleich items, and I found a few unicorns and dinosaurs, but no animal figures, so I tried a different brand. There are plenty of HABA toys, Aquarelle paint kits, and MagnaTiles, my other favorite brands. Very nice book selection, all ages. Lots of fidget toys, too. Reasonable prices. Free parking. I have purchased several gifts here. They have a fund clean store. Great options. It's pricey but I expect that. What was surprising was that the staff was clueless and careless. I asked specifically for less feminine calico critters or some road construction equipment to put the calico critters in to make them more appropriate for the recipient of my gift. This little guy wanted calico critters so he could play with his sister and hers. However he wanted his to be "doing" construction. Sounds easy enough. The staff just shut down the idea and one specific employee was I would guess under 27. When I explained I wanted road construction equipment or vest to put the calico critters in, the employee hands me a plastic couple, the woman in hiking gear, the man in a fly fishing vest and a kayak. They were twice the size of calico critters and totally not relevant to the request. I was surprised by this unwillingness. I found an excavator and some other large yellow construction road crew looking thing after I was told they had nothing like that. I spent 300$ and easily could have walked out spending only 29 had I not kept searching on my own. The store was not busy. There was one other person who wasn't asking for help. The wrapping was sloppy, I had to ask for a bag. This was my fifth time and my last visiting this store unless it comes under new ownership or management. I want a store that values local business and patrons, friendly, listens, wants your money, and eager to help. I can't ignore what's not happing here. read more

Small but jam packed full of upper end toys: large selection of Playmobil, Ugly dolls, Calico Critters, Brio, Plan toys, Groovy Girls, klutz, kid oriented craft activities, Rokenbok, Corolle dolls and Kathe Kruse. They have a thoughtful, and fairly large, selection of games and books for a store this size. They always are careful to stock items at every price point. You'll find a nice selection of smaller items,and less expensive things that could be stocking stuffers or affordable to a child spending some pocket money. Or you can go totally spendy - clearly they carry many top of the line brands. I love that you can find Kathe Kruse toys here - they're not so common. Awesome place for kids as well as adults! Most of the toys here are the learning and thinking kind. This toy store does not have things like action figures or anything like that. Definitely more for the younger set. What I was impressed with the most was that they had a great selection of books which contained many classic children's (And for all readers for that matter) as well as books for very young children. Many well known book series are here as well. Really an awesome little shop! read more

We had stopped by looking for fun things for my classes (substitute teacher) and found them to be very helpful. Where else can you get 30 million year old turtle poop - which my classes loved. I also found a new version of a Kaleidoscope that was perfect. They greeted us - came up with ideas - and overall made our shopping experience fun and productive. I don't know who has more fun in here. Me or the kids?? It is a little cramped due to every inch being stuffed with neat toys, but doable....just not with a large stroller! They sell a lot of European brand toys, which in my opinion, are of higher quality. I love, love, love looking at the Playmobil section. It brings me back to childhood....is it wrong to play with it now? Luckily my kids like it too! I like that they offer free gift wrapping and punch cards too. This is our go-to place to pick up a gift and not have to make multiple stops! If I were six, this store would be one of the greatest discoveries EVER. As it is, at 24, I still felt like a kid in the candy store - they carry all of my old sentimental favorites, from Playmobil to Breyer horses, along with a slew of great new toys that would have kept me entertained for hours if they'd been around when I was a wee one! I managed to get gifts for both my new nephew and for a friend's baby shower all in one trip. The prices were typical for toys these days - children's clothing/toys don't come cheaply! - but they were fair, and I prefer supporting a good local business to possibly saving a dollar or two buying on Amazon. Plus, the sales girl was very nice and did a lovely job of gift wrapping on both my packages at no charge. I could have spent a few hours exploring this deceptively large store (they really use every inch of display space!). As it was, I spent twenty minutes looking at children's books alone, waxing nostalgic over all those familiar bedtime stories. I also thought some of the new eco-friendly toys were pretty cool - keep an eye out for the naturally-made PlanToys brand. The best toy store in all the land! Good selection, great staff! When my kids were younger, they use to spend hours in here! I would even use Teaching Toys as a reward! "If you do ___ you can buy 1 toy at Teaching Toys" worked every time! Now that my kids are grown, I buy toys and books for my nieces and nephews and since I no longer know what's popular, the staff is always eager to help out! While I have to say I would set the price at higher than "moderate" (everything is high end and sold at full-price), it's totally worth it. The brands are companies worth supporting, and I never feel bad with my purchases, despite the big monies I end up spending every time I go. I am a sucker for children's merchandise, so I never go in here unless I have to buy a children's birthday present. I am always greeted very quickly by a salesperson, and as soon as I tell them the age and gender of the child I'm shopping for, I get 2-5 excellent suggestions. Then, I end up buying a gift, or two, 'cause they're just so cool, and then getting a whole bunch of other stuff for my daughter or the preschool class I teach. I was in there store about 2 weeks ago and was so stressed by the amount of stuff inside. Not sure how you are supposed to get some of the things off the shelf without making a complete mess. Not sure how anyone can shop with the amount of toys that are stuffed inside. when I asked a question about a toy I was interested in they had no answer for me. REAL toys! The kind that kids play with rather than simply possess! A great selection of playmobil, calico critters, kits to build and make and do things. Lovely dolls that are meant to be played with, not admired from afar, with healthy body images for girls. The book selection is wonderful for such a small location. This is always a favorite stop for us on a stroll through the Proctor district of Tacoma. I enjoy that the toys are NOT all centered on movies or cartoons or other media, but are simply toys that engage a kid's own creativity and imagination. Hula hoops, kites, stuffed animals, puppet, LOTS of wonderful jigsaw puzzles. I don't know how they fit such a good selection in here! We rented one of their party trunks once and it was a fabulous hit with our small guests. They will also prepare party bags for you, full of small treasures, or let you select your own trinkets. This is truly the best toy store that ever existed! It is loved by parents and kids alike. They do not carry the licensed character/ plasticy toys that you find in large toy stores. Instead they have good quality toys that help kids learn. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they even gift wrap for free! I have an infant, a toddler and a preschooler so I had no idea what to get my 11 year old nephew. They pointed out several things that were popular for that age and he LOVED every single one of them.
