I had the privilege of getting my haircut by the owner and founder, David. He has been in the business for about 21 years and is running Squire for about 16 years. I have high respect for men who have been masters of their craft because of years and years of practice. And It shows on how he runs the place - very well organised, tasteful interior, professional environment, and the barbers are just top notch. I came in a little early and I enjoyed watching the barbers do their magic and bring out the personality of each of their client. When it was my turn, David talked me through some hair possibilities. He listened to what I wanted and was thoughtful enough to give his suggestions. We laughed about how crazy my thick and wavy hair gets which is hard to part. The end result was neat! I now have brushed up hair with well-faded sides. The product he recommend, Suavecito pomade (strong hold) just has the right amount of shine and a strong hold but still allows my wavy locks to flow. I was visiting Seattle and called Squire for a cut based on the Yelp reviews. When I arrived the gent whom I assumed to be the owner (shaved head with full sleeves) assigned his offsider, a young cat, to my desired cut - the maintenance of a classic 60s 'Don Draper'. The experience was good and the cut, while far from the best I've had, was almost equally far from the worst - a solid though not spectacular result (hence the solid though not spectacular star rating). I had to do some tidying myself over the next week or so, cutting down some stray groups of hairs and attempting to tame a cowlick at the back that was maybe cut a little short, resulting in some unruly height that had to be subdued with extra pomade for a couple weeks. I would absolutely go here again, but would maybe hold out for a more experienced barber. read more

David moved his barber shop from Pike Place Market recently and his new location a few blocks away is a great space. There is more room and David now has another barber. I've trusted my hair to David for at least 4 or 5 years, as have several of my friends. David can do whatever you want and it doesn't matter if you want a tight buzz cut or some style on the longer side - - he knows what to do! I brought a friend who was visiting from Cleveland and he said David gave him the best haircut he'd ever had. David takes appointments from 10 - 1 and does walk-ins after that. Squire barber shop is my designated back up barber shop (When my main barber is waaaaay to busy) And to be frank...they are very, very strong (Miles specifically) Very good clipper skills with good (but not great) fading abilities. Once the price shot up it was difficult to make these my number 1 but on short notice they do excellent work. Filipino hair isn't the easiest hair to work with so I have to give this barber shop it's due for their ability to manage my hair with little experience. If you're expecting the best fades in the King County/Pierce County area their are other barber shops who can certainly provide you that service. This place is hands down, the best barber shop I've ever been to. I've been to several others in my hometown, but these guys know what they are doing. I had Dan, and he was incredible. I showed him a picture of one of their Instagram posts, and he was able to replicate it with ease. Great attention to detail, and very personable. Showed me the right way to style my hair, and gave me product recommendations as well (didn't try to sell me anything in the store, just recommended good products). If you're looking for a clean, professional haircut, this place is it. Make sure you book an appointment though! They are crazy busy, so it's best to make an appointment. As good a haircut as I've ever had--and baby, I've had 'em all over. Being in the Navy, I have become fanatical about having a haircut that meets grooming standards and yet does not look like I'm in the military. It is my first priority upon arriving to a new duty station. I called early in the morning on Saturday in the summer and it sounded like they were pretty busy. I had the last appointment of the day and my barber took every consideration to make my hair look exactly as I wanted. The best fade I've had since leaving the Middle East. The atmosphere is low key and friendly without trying too hard to capitalize on yuppies looking for that old school vibe. Reasonably priced. I can imagine parking might be an issue on weekends because of it's proximity to the market, but I got lucky and will try to go during off peak hours from now on. read more

I haven't had a haircut in about 8 months due to the pandemic, but I finally got one and damn...its one of the best haircuts Ive ever had. I really needed a haircut for a new job and Dan hooked me up. Dan is not only a great barber but we had a great conversation too. I've been getting slick-looking cuts from Squire for a year now. Bobbye took over for me when Burt left, and does an equally stellar job. I live on Capitol Hill, awash with salons. (Hell, there's one underneath my apartment!) I walk right past them all to get my Squire fix. The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, the prices reasonable and the cuts meticulous. Came here for a haircut, the place is located near pike place. I got a side fade and trip at the top. The cut was okay. For the price of almost 42 with tip, it definitely was below average. I was expecting a cleaner fade with more contrast but the barber cut it in less than 20 minutes. They also don't use a blade for tapering like real barber shops would. Overall if you need a quick cut and got nothing else, I'd stop by but there are definitely better shops at that price range. read more

If you're looking to get a haircut by professionals then Squire is the ONLY place you should go. These guys know men's hair. There's a reason this place is considered the best in Seattle. I've been going to Dan for about 6 months. He's always keeping up with the "next look". Always professional, always on time, takes the time to explain to you the best cut for your head shape, and help you figure out what product/shampoo/conditioner, if any, to use. Don't be scared off by a $20.00 haircut. I get my hair cut once every 3 weeks. Truthfully, I could easily go twice that and still look clean cut. That is how clean the cuts here are. I must admit I went to squire with little expectations so they were easily exceeded. The place has a real men's barbershop feel about it without making me feel like I am in the mob. I was not only given an amazing haircut by Bryan but he also did all the extra things involved beyond just cutting the hairs on my scalp. He got the back of my neck, my ears, he vacuumed my head after he was done to avoid any uncomfortable loose hairs in my shirt collar. I came in for the first time after hearing good things. I scheduled an appointment over the phone with Myles... this dude is the real deal. He did his thing and when he turned me around to look in the mirror my first thought was "holy $hit!" Just left the shop and I was complemented TWICE on the new cut before I had even made it to the car. I called to make an appointment as it was my first time through the shop. Less than 48 hours later I'm beaming from ear to ear with this sh@! eating grin, all thanks to Myles. I was anxious to cut my long curly hair, as the last haircut was a disaster. Being almost 6 months since then I was well overdue. Myles not only took the time to listen to what I wanted and reiterate, but also the time to explain what his plan of attack was. I could tell he was busy, yet he made the most of the usual chit chat and didn't forget my name... It definitely added a personal touch, unlike other chain barber shops. Squire is a no frills barbershop staffed by barbers who clearly take what they do seriously. The atmosphere has a classic old school vibe to it complete with vintage barber chairs. The whole experience from waiting to be seen to the mini vacuums for cleaning your neck is total comfort. I have gotten two cuts by David to date and couldn't be happier. I can't imagine ever needing to go elsewhere in Seattle for a cut. He takes his time with my fade and just nails it. Super clean and sharp. Got a great haircut here, but I showed the barber exactly what I wanted and then he didn't do it. o.O He had to go back and re-do it, which caused him to hurry to get to his next appointment and I don't think he gave my haircut the TLC like he did on the guy before me. I think the next time I go back it will be better because I can communicate better what I want, but this time I was a little disappointed because this is definitely the most expensive haircut I have ever got (worth it if it's good). I just moved to Seattle and was debating where to risk my first haircut. Lucky for me, I stumbled into Squire after some Yelping! I didn't have a reservation but happened to be walking by en route to another errand in Pike Place. I was told a 15 minute wait which was totally awesome for a Saturday afternoon! I had a little trouble describing exactly what I wanted (I'm not the most articulate when it comes to hair) but luckily we worked through my babble and I ended up with a fantastic haircut. Even a month later, it's aged quite well (usually the tell-tale sign of whether a haircut was "good" or "great"). To top it all of, the prices were very reasonable by Seattle standards (I think I paid around $25 with a tip) I know where I'll be going back shortly! read more

Went and saw Pancho Ladinos aka @Delpanch... I've been to barbers far, and barbers near, I've had them tell me "Man the barbers around here in Seattle don't know s*** about cutting hair like I do." I've had good and bad experiences. My experience with Pancho was beyond great! He is the first barber ever to cut my hair to the exact way I have always wanted, I showed him a few pictures of what I was wanting and he worked his magic. The result was a masterpiece! His attention to detail is that of a mouse taking cheese from a trap, super meticulous and he won't stop until you and him are both satisfied. I can't say enough good things about Pancho. Sad to give this review - I've gotten reasonable haircuts at Squire in years past. Unfortunately I got a haircut with Pancho today before a special trip and it was a disaster - I don't think he has any idea how to cut curly hair. I asked him to just tighten up the sides a bit, which he did - and then he inexplicably extended the definition of "sides" and took off at least a third of the curls on my head, leaving me with a bizarre group of curls in the middle and a tight fade everywhere else. Girlfriend and I were horrified. When I asked him why he did this without being asked, he said he was "blending" the top with the sides (quite poorly, actually) - unasked for, uncalled for, and totally different than the picture I showed him. He didn't seem to mind and inexplicably tried to tell me I somehow told him to do this to the top because I asked for tight sides - no point arguing once your hair is gone, so I just paid and left. 2 stars because I know some of the other barbers here are fine. If you have curly hair, avoid Pancho unless you don't want your curls anymore. read more

I have been getting my haircut at Squire Barber Shop every 2-3 weeks for the last two years, and have always walked out feeling and looking great! I have had my haircut from Myles, Dan, and Erick, all excellent barbers that will give you the look you want. Even though I'm nearly 40 years old, the idea of everyone having different types/textures of hair never occur to me, I simply thought "hair is hair". When I showed a barber a picture of a hairstyle I wanted, I learned that my hair didn't bend/lay a certain way, so the barber suggested a slight modification to the hairstyle that works better with my hair type. I really like the online booking system, I can easily pick a barber, date, and time. A tip to customers, book a week in advance... maybe 2 weeks in advance around holidays! read more

I had haircut with Eric today. TBH, it's okay haircut , but definitely doesn't received as much detail as the photos posted here.I don't think this less-than-15-minute haircut worth $37 ($32 charge and $5 tip). The website saying a regular haircut is from 30 mins to 45 mins. After paid, I talked to Eric about my opinion, saying that he could pay more attentions to details. He replied that I didn't have a idea of what I wanted for my haircut when I walked in, so there weren't much he can do with my hair. I said you were an experienced barber, you may have ideas of what you could offer customers from your experience. "You can bring a picture next time". Just wonder for all those good haircut photos posted on here, you can see they are good because of details, like a line of divider. Are these customers who received the haircut were instructing the barber of very detail? Before today's haircut, I had a haircut by David a while ago. The appointment was at 1pm, I arrived about 20 minutes before the appointment. David finished the previous customer haircut about 5:10 and he took about another 10 mins for a smoke break before cutting my hair. It's understandable not all things is on time, and I waited with patience without much complain. David was cutting my hair very careful, and I can feel he was paying attention to every detail. It took him about 35 mins to finished my hair. And I was quite happy with it, even after the long wait. Went in the first time this last Saturday and Brian cut my hair. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun and the hair cut was okay. It was still kinda bulky on the top and there was a strange cow-lick I discovered after a day.
