Such good authentic Korean food!! It's hard to find in Chicago so I'm glad there is a place to get chicken ginseng soup. The cold noodles was so flavorful and yummy. The bulgolgi was okay but would definitely come back!

Cha-Oreum Samgye Tang

We ordered Uber Eats for lunch and tried: - Seafood Pancake - Cha-O-Reum Samgye Tang - Yukgae Jang At first I was questioning the prices, but the portion size doesn't miss. Everything was essentially two servings. Surprisingly the seafood pancake was my favorite, it was absolutely packed with shrimp, octopus, and more. I wouldn't personally say the Yukgae Jang was spicy. It reminded me a bit of kimchi spice, but it was still good. Definitely give them a try, especially when it's cold outside!

Fried Dumpling (Gun Mandu)

I ordered delivery. The food was exceptionally delicious. The fried dumplings were nicely filled and flavorful. The BBQ beef ribs were so well seasoned. They were delicious. The Royal Rice great. Nice serving of all ingredients. The beef and rice cakes were very tastes Definitely ordering from here again.

Chicken Soup, Steamed Egg, Grilled Mackerel, and Banchan

The food here comforts you and makes you feel like you're getting a lovely home cooked meal. If you're looking for authentic Korean food, then this is the spot for you. The owners give it a cute mom and pop feel. We ordered their signature chicken soup with ginseng and herbs. It had a lovely aroma that felt like it could cure your body and soul. It was a little on the pricey side, but we did enjoy it. The grilled mackerel was extremely flavorful and a bit salty, but it paired so nicely with the white rice it came with. The steamed egg was fluffy and warm; I highly recommend getting this on the side. The banchan were tasty and a good pallet cleanser. The service wasn't bad; the lady took our order pretty quick. She got straight to the point and didn't seem as welcoming. I wish we knew if we could get a refill on the banchan, but I wasn't sure enough to ask. The ambiance is very simple; there are a lot of ginseng references in the wall. They pride themselves on using it, so I love that! It's a small restaurant on the corner, but I love the vibe it gives if you're looking for a simple comforting meal.

Service and food was so fire ! Great hang out spot to catch up w friends! it was pretty empty when we came so the ambience was very chill and cozy

I had this place bookmarked and finally went with a friend and we had such a delightful meal here. I liked the banchan, especially the tofu skins. But my absolute favorite thing was the seafood pancake (haemul pajeon). My friend loved their samgyetang (the chicken soup) that I'd heard they are known for. I probably would skip the sweet beef stew soup I got (I forgot the name), but I'd definitely come back here. I also liked how crispy their mandu was, and I don't always like the mandu at other restaurants.

The food is very tasty very tender and nice portions service was excellent and the ambience of the place gives you a taste of nostalgia retro New York Overall, I would recommend this place if you see it and you think that it is a shut down warehouse trust me it is not food is priced relatively well and again services pretty speedy. The waiting staff is very patient and they do not overwhelm you constantly asking you if everything is OK until you can get your food in your mouth, but yes eat here. Come here and enjoy.

Their Samgye Tang is so good...I'm still craving it now... My friends and I ordered a seafood pancake, a stir fried squid, and one Samgye Tang for each of us. All were so amazing!!! The only thing that we were not super satisfied with was their service speed. We waited for nearly a half hour for the dishes to come. Others were good, especially their dining environment, not greasy like some other places at all.

Really delicious! Took my friend out for lunch last weekend. I've been to a lot of the Korean restos in the area, but not this one. We kinda went all out...we got the chicken and ginseng soup they're known for, pan-fried mackerel, steamed eggs, and japchae (because I love it). Everything was absolutely delicious. We rolled out of there completely stuffed, but not in a gross way.

Giving this spot a 3 since we came for the Korean fried chicken but they sadly no longer have it. Their service is fairly good and the restaurant is spacious. There are a few parking spots behind the restaurant but other than that it is street parking. For food I would recommend getting at least their seafood pancake. I would say it is one of the best I've ever had. Other than that everything else was standard Korean food.

10/10 recommend!!! Such a really great Korean spot!!! Highly recommended coming for the soup/stew!

This Korean restaurant is very clean and the food came out very fast. The food was fresh and the food was very good. Not salty and very healthful. The bibimbop veges were really good and authentic and super fresh. And I am mostly vegetarian but can eat high quality low fat beef or chicken. And the beef in the bibimbop was super low fat and very tasty and not salty but still flavored like bulgogi. There's another room for diners which can also act as a private party dining area if needed. The bathrooms were very clean also with paperless hand drying and it was odorless. They even had a bench inside that came be used to place bags or to sit. This place has great food and it's very clean and the parking on the street is free. Will definitely come back.

Great food ! It's very homely and perfect for cold rainy days which there are so many in Chicago ! Would def recommend the original or the premium chicken ! Would def come back !

About the worst take out I've had. Mushy meat - floppy dumplings. I cook Korean and this was plain bad.

Considering I am from Texas, I will admit I can be a little particular when it comes to BBQ, but this was pretty good BBQ, especially this far north. The smoked meats were flavorful, tender, and had a good slow-cooked taste. The brisket, pulled pork, rib tips, and sausage all brought something different, and the variety made the meal feel like a true sampler experience. The sides were just as good. The mac and cheese, red beans and rice, collard greens, apple slaw, and cornbread all had that comforting soul food feel and paired really well with the BBQ. Overall, Soul & Smoke delivered on both the smoke and the soul. Great flavor, generous portions, and a satisfying meal from start to finish. Definitely a spot worth visiting if you are in Evanston and looking for good BBQ and soul food.

Music is pretty loud in this small space. We decided on the 3 entrees for 69.00 with a glass of wine. We chose the pepper steak, smothered chicken, orange chicken, catfish and spaghetti, and the bbq catfish. Overall the food was ok., The bbq fish was a little to fishy and the smothered chicken was heavily salted. The star of our 6 dishes was the fried piece of catfish. The food came out quickly but nothing was piping hot. The server was OK as well, he did exactly what we expect of a server nothing more nothing less. I will say next time I would take the drive to the West side location, to me the food choices are better as well as the service.

There were nine of us dining, and just a heads-up--make a reservation if you plan to go. We didn't have one and ended up sitting at the bar, but honestly, it worked out just fine. The ambiance was great, the bar was spacious, and the service was top-notch. Everyone ordered something different, and of course, I had to sample a little bit of everything from my family's plates just to see if the hype was real... and let me tell you, nothing missed. Every single dish was amazing. I ordered the three chicken wings with macaroni and cheese and collard greens, and it was hands down some of the best I've ever had--so good it made me question my own cooking! I also tried the stuffed chicken breast, baked beans, hot honey chicken sandwich, and a sirloin beef burger. Every bite was flavorful and on point. I can't stress this enough--if you're ever in Chicago, do yourself a favor and check out Soul Vibez. You won't be disappointed.

We get there and there is a cute young girl who greets us with an apron and chef's hat on. She seats us and takes our order - she was our waitress which surprised us. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup to have before my meal. I'm glad I got a cup and not a bowl. The cup was only half full. The soup was lacking flavor so I added pepper. The woman who is GrannyMa delivered the soup. She didn't speak to us or anything the entire time while we were there which didn't feel too nice. They were sold out of the beef liver, beef shortribs and sweet potatoes. We ordered the fried chicken (menu states it takes 20-25 minutes for the chicken) and the salmon croquettes. Each dinner comes with 2 sides each so we got the macaroni and cheese, green beans, dressing and mostaccioli (slight extra charge for the mostaccioli). Fried chicken was crispy and delicious! Seasoned well. The croquettes were good also - they give you two big patties in the dinner. We weren't impressed with the green beans as you can tell they came out of a can. The dressing was only okay. The mac and cheese was pretty good but the best side was the mostaccioli - it had a layer of cheese on top and was really yummy. I wish I had gotten that as a meal, it was that good and highly recommend it. For dessert I got the peach cobbler sundae which is peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top. The cobbler sauce was very thin. I like cobbler that has alot of flaky crust but this didn't have that but it still was good enough to eat the whole thing. The young girl brought us our bill. The prices are so reasonable for what you get. Our bill was only $62 with tax for all of what we had. The place is bright with warm colors inside. We conversated with the son-in-law to GrannyMa's, he was very nice and personable. Although the young girl was sweet, I felt some kind of way of her being our waitress because clearly she is underage to be working. We were told they have a Sunday brunch from 11-3 that includes a DJ. To my friend and I, the food overall was either hit or miss. One review mention about GrannyMa engaging them in conversation - she never came over to our table except to drop off the soup and she is the owner of the restaurant. Not a good way in customer service if you ask me. Overall, okay.

There seemed to be a steady flow of takeout pickups, but there wasn't anyone dining in, so we had the entire place to ourselves. Our waitress was a young girl who was pleasant and friendly. My sister and I both had the catfish. I ordered the greens and mac & cheese while she had the dressing and greens. We both loved the mac & cheese. My sister kept stealing bites of it off my plate! Lol She enjoyed the dressing as well. Neither of us liked the greens, though. I believe they were turnips, and we prefer collards. We also didn't care for the Johnny cakes. I prefer mine a little sweeter. The catfish was good but could've had more flavor. My brother had the fried chicken, and his mom had the salmon croquettes. All three of them LOVED the croquettes! I didn't have any, but they were definitely a fan favorite! My brother loved the chicken and sweet potatoes. I had the brownie for dessert, which I didn't care for. My sister didn't like it either. It was dry and was just okay taste-wise. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Since we were the only ones dining in, it was really quiet and relaxing. We sat at one of the large tables, but there are also comfortable benches along the wall and window. The service was excellent and you can tell that the family takes pride in going the extra mile. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and I'd go back.

My "plate" (styrofoam container) was so heavy it cracked! I was given a second bag to catch spillage. I commented that this would be dinner and probably lunch tomorrow. The cashier and serving gentleman chuckled and agreed. I saw the passion tea and ordered that also. Now, the taste. The pork chops are delicious. Gravy is good, meat is tender and not too salty. They're good size chops, I didn't finish one. Max and cheese is very cheesy. Well seasoned and noodles are firm and not mushy. The dressing is not it for me. It's a little "mealy" and not much flavor. I can taste the sage but it feels undercooked to me. The cornbread muffin is okay. Not as sweet as jiffy mix, but too sweet to be hot water cornbread. I will return and try some other sides. Prayerfully next time they'll have the turkey wings or fried ribs I wanted to try. However the gravy from the pork chops on some mashed potatoes would be heavenly.
