For me, this is a bit of a game changer. I've gone here with several friends and we're all amazed that you can get the delicious dishes you expect from So Gong Dong, in a nice food court setting. While it's not exactly cheap, this is still very fairly priced (without tips required) with a lot of different food offered (including a full assortment of banchan). Outside of a bit more banchan choices, more comfortable seating, some more dish choices, and nicer decor there's surprisingly little that you're really missing by dining at this location. The food here is of the same high quality that you expect at any other SGD location. For me, the main entrees are large enough as well that you can share one between two people, making this actually a fairly economical option for dining in Hmart. The flavors and textures are on point, and the cooking speed is pretty good. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're an SGD fan or looking to get a fuller set of dining options while shopping in this area. While the Korean BBQ and Bento boxes will stand out to most people right away, do give their tofu stew a try if you haven't before.

I'd give 4 stars for SGD Tofu & BBQ Restaurant. It's located inside the H Mart Grocery Store in Niles in their food court. The menu is huge, and the food that I tried was delicious. I was able to try their beef dumplings, their beef bulgogi plate, and their bulgogi bento box. All of the food was amazing, especially the meat for the bulgogi, good quality pieces and marinated very well - a ton of flavor and 100% authentic. They are on the pricier side, but they do give you a lot of food. I'd recommend if you're in H Mart - get the bulgogi for sure!

Service was friendly but a bit slow. I'll take slow though as long as the food is good--it was. I had the pork belly with kimchi. The pork belly was not soggy, nicely browned and seasoned. It sat atop a bed of kimchi and onions. It also came with a kimchi side dish and some soy marinated radish. Great food. A bit overpriced imo. The restaurant is in the Super H Mart food court so not much as far as ambiance.

My family and I recently moved to a place near H-mart in Niles location. As SGD Dubu (so gong dong) can be found in many different locations in IL as it is a franchise restaurant, but! this SGD Dubu place serves the most well prepared and very delicious SGD Dubu soup the way it should taste. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely visit again!! Thank you for the delicious food !!

The service was super fast, and there was plenty of seating inside of HMart to enjoy the fresh hot meal. Portions are large, so bring $.50 for take home containers, cash only for those. Perfect for a quick filling meal before shopping.

I love silky tofu soup! I like it spicy as well, so I picked level of spiciness as 4 Spicy out of 1-5, with beef. And ordered a kimchi pancake. I appreciate the crunchy edge of the pancake, but the taste of it was blend, and the soup too, unfortunately had very blend taste. They need to use richer broth that takes longer time and more effort. We barely touched the soup as it was just.. blend. I don't even know how else I describe them. They opened not too long ago and I do wish them success tho.

Compared to the Tokyo Lunch Boxes and What A Dumpling, I would say this location of SGD Tofu and Bbq restaurant has great value. You get that tofu stew, a bowl of white rice, an egg to put in the tofu stew, and the 3 banchan dishes. Food quality was above par. Service was very friendly and fast. Since it's in a food court, they have plenty of seating. Prices were fair and inexpensive.

We usually eat here when shopping at H Mart in Niles. The jjigae is pretty good, although I would pas on getting the summer soup again, because it tastes rather bland even when adding the salt it cane with. Service was efficient , and you have to find a seat in the foot court on your own.

Soondubu seafood prices are reasonable. Always full on mornings every weekend. One of my lists of Korean restaurants.

I ordered the chicken kebab sandwich and it is flavorful, tastes fresh, and it's not a skimpy. You do get a choice of the type of bread you want, I went with pita. Consistency is so important in restaurants and In so happy that this sandwich hit the mark every single time. We also have tried the pink sultan (beets/yogurt spread) and the baba ghanoush. Both are really good. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the doner and other sides! Service is friendly. Interior looks nice, but we carried out each time so I can't speak in detail about more in-depth service. Great place to have in the neighborhood!

Given their high ratings and thus our expectations, we ended up having but a meh, ok lunch. The wife and I split a lunch special combination plate ($17) and a bowl of lentil soup ($8). Complimentary bread was provided. The lentil soup was a bit watered down. The combo plate content was an average value but it was disappointing mainly as it wasn't hot, and everything was barely lukewarm. Ali was our friendly and gregarious server, hails from Istanbul, and has only been there a few weeks. There's a 2% credit card charge, so I just paid cash. It's a one and done for us here, but best of luck to Cappadocia!

Most classic Korean dishes are available and the food comes out pretty quickly. We ordered neang myon, mackerel, and the seafood pancake/pah-geon. A nice variety of side dishes/banchan comes out shortly after ordering. The cold noodles were perfectly cold and there was hot mustard and vinegar to customize. The fish was perfectly grilled and savory. The seafood pancake was crisp, savory, and had more veggies than typically seen. All of the food was delicious. The only knock was that the appetizer and entrees all came out at the same time. Large portions with good prices make this such a great value too!

I already had some Kalbi marinating at home so I figured I do something that isn't too Korean to save those flavors for later. I saw that they had a beef udon soup on the menu so I figured that would be nice and comforting. They also have a bunch of fried food on the shelf next to the counter and they will actually heat it up for you. The fried squid was warm and crunchy but the squid was tender. The soup was very filling. It was a lot of food considering you also get an assortment of pickles with it. While waiting for the food, I did notice that they have pho available so I'll definitely have to try that for next time.

First impression walking in was NOT great. We immediately smelled what can only be described as a VERY DIRTY bathroom smell. Other than the smell which we couldn't stop smelling until we ate and had some wine. The server was great to let us know that it was half off bottles of wine. And since the glass we initially wanted they didn't have this was a great option for us. We weren't able to finish the bottle so the server closed it up and sealed it in a bag for us to take with us. (Tuscan blend which was delicious) We ordered the Lobster Bisque to share to start with. The server/kitchen were kind enough to split it for us into two bowls. Overall the soup was good but NOT great. Then we ordered a bone in Ribeye (22oz) which came with crispy new potatoes and some some sautéed brocollini. We ordered the steak Medium Rare, it came out Medium + and since we were never checked in with on the temperature we ate it anyhow. The flavor was good but definitely far overcooked. The crispy new potatoes were perfectly crispy and the broccolini was sautéed and cooked very well. At the end of the day the service saved our experience. BUT because of the smell and the mis-cooked steak we would not return.
