My husband and I walked in on a Sunday evening for dinner and were able to be seated right away. The atmosphere is dark and moody, and it made sense once I realized it was the same owners as Gretel. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy but we were able to snag a table right away. I split my meal with my child which was plenty of food. We had the bad burger (two patties with two slices of American cheese, house made pickles and red-onion mayo) and upgraded my side for mac n cheese (bacon, scallions, toasted bread crumbs) for an extra $5. LBW is a large space, with a large bar area plus dining up front, but also a large dining space through an arched hallway. Come here hungry because their food will fill you up! We started with the lumpia and Brussel sprouts. The lumpia was surprisingly really good and the sauce it came with just spot on. The brussel sprouts on the other hand, I'd skip. It tasted a little bland and the sauce which was all the way at the bottom wasn't that great. For starters we got the chips and salsa as well as the chopped salad. The chopped salad was really good! Chips were awesome but the salsas and guac were just fine. For my main I ordered the double cheeseburger which was really solid. Some say it's the best in the city, I wouldn't go that far but it definitely hit the spot. This time I ordered the little burgers with a side salad. According to my dinner partner who got the bad burger, the little burger meat patties weren't as thick. I really enjoyed little burgers nonetheless. They were easier to handle than a regular sized burger. The highlight for me was the side salad. This salad wasn't a just a few green leaves. It had red onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes. It was a hearty salad and more than twice the size of a regular side salad. Almost another meal itself. There are plenty of seating arrangements including a patio section in front. The patio is covered and popular on warm days. We went on a Sunday evening. The wait for patio seating was 30min. It's easy to find something you like on the menu. It's medium in size and diverse enough. And like the atmosphere, it blends bar comfort with contemporary. They've got a charcuterie board, trout, shrimp, and brussel sprouts - like a nicer restaurant. But they've got burgers, tacos, Mac & cheese, and chips & guac - like a bar. Plus they have a wide Bao selection and elotes to mix it up. The food itself was far better than anything you'd get at a bar and better than many restaurants. Everything was either excellent or good. Little Bad Wolf is a place that does not miss, and landed in my Hall of Fame. None of the three or four time I've visited have I had anything but good things to say. The food, the drinks (including non-alcoholic), the service, the vibes, all phenomenal! On my last visit, I ordered the "Bad Burger," though it was the furthest thing from bad. This is what I assume the cheeseburger Anya Taylor-Joy's character ordered in The Menu must have tasted. Patties perfectly seasoned and juicy, sauce done perfectly, and just enough pickles for a touch of crunch and acid. Then there's the cheese, which melds so perfectly with everything else! Go to Au Cheval when you want to impress guests from out of town, go to LBW for something which will 110% cure any burger craving. The fries were also cooked and seasoned perfectly, with just the right amount of crispness outside and softness inside... something I think is hard to do with shoestring/julienne-cut spuds. On previous occasions, I had the pleasure of trying the Pork Taco & Pork Bao, as well as the Duck Taco & Duck Bao. While my memory is a bit foggy as it's been a hot minute, I will do my best. The proteins were cooked to perfection with tenderness and just a teeny amount of crispness on the outside, the veggies were great in adding flavor, crunch, and a little bit of acid at times. The sauces complemented everything nicely too. Finally, I recall one of these having just a little heat, not enough to overpower, but enough to be present and add a new dimension to the experience. Now, let's talk about the drinks! While I am typically not a fan of pineapple or rum (no aversion, just a lack of fandom), I decided to be adventurous and ordered the El Chupacabra. To my surprise, I found it immensely enjoyable! The Mezcal added a delightful smokiness, the Fire Water some heat, and the tartness and sweetness of the pineapple worked wonders within. Sometimes with cocktails, acid, alcohol, and heat fight each other, but here they were best friends. I would have happily ordered several more, had I not been curious about something else (plus I have a 2-3 drink limit when going out). That something else was the Diamonds & Rust was not as mind blowing, but still terrific. It had a light sweetness, some spice (rosemary & black pepper, not heat), and a terrific booziness. On that note, both drinks were strong enough that it took only two for me to be feeling it and cut myself off! However, bear in mind I'm a lightweight. Now, remember how I talked about the vibes? Well, they are Immaculate! Little Bad Wolf is one of those rare restaurants that does not have a TV inside. It's a place dedicated to focusing on the artwork (the food and drink) and/or on talking with a friend, stranger, or date. The lighting is soft, the atmosphere is dark, but in a warm and cinematic way. Finally, there is the service. Despite being a very busy establishment (come early or be prepared to wait), the food and drinks come out reasonably fast. The bar staff is also friendly, personable, and attentive. I'm going to let you in on a little secret: Many friends who are not super-familiar with Yelp believe half-stars are possible.
