Once they got me there they put me in a diaper! After putting up with this for several days I threatened to require transfer to another care center. Then they promised to get a commode for me for my bedside. They kept promising and promising, and never did it for the 6+ weeks I was there! In addition, the first space I was assigned had a TV that would only turn off if you unplugged it. Also, their TV channels did not include KTLA, a major local channel. Hygiene was also an issue. The curtain between me and my neighbor had smear of snot or other bodily fluids on it. It took more than a week for them to change it. Later on I had a chest infection and I got some fluid on the new curtain. When I told the cleaning crew, all they did was rehang the same curtain with the side toward my neighbor (who was there for cancer treatment)! There was also a security issue. One male resident, who apparently had some form of dementia, kept wandering the halls and entering my space, claiming he was visiting a friend (no males were in my unit, and the other resident also did not want him in our unit). I told the staff and they cautioned him ("you don't want to go back to the hospital (mental?), do you?"), but he continued to poke his head into my unit. I observed them lying to residents. They took away my neighbor's wheelchair because they didn't want her wandering unaccompanied in the halls, but told her they didn't know what happened to it. They promised physical therapy four times a week but I never received more than 10 to 15 minutes two or three times a week, and when I asked for more they said staff were unavailable.

The facility is extremely busy, and nurses are frequently checking in on patients. Rooms are shared (two patients per room) and include a private bathroom, a TV for each bed, and a dresser. The facility itself is clean, though the nursing staff often seemed short-handed. During especially busy times, it was not unusual to wait 5-15 minutes for a response after pressing the call button. Physical therapy was provided once or twice per day in short sessions. Some drawbacks included physicians making care decisions without always coming to check in directly with the patient, as well as occasional miscommunication regarding medications. While some staff members appeared more short-tempered than others, the majority were friendly, attentive, and patient. We also experienced some issues with laundry, clothing went missing, and at times other patients' clothes were mistakenly given to our family member. Overall, we are grateful for the care received, but there is clear room for improvement, particularly with staff-to-patient ratios to help reduce call-button wait times and improve overall communication.

When our mother arrived a month ago, she was unable to stand or walk, and her progress has been remarkable. We were also very impressed by the medical care meeting provided for our family. It was well-organized, with up-to-date lab work and clear documentation that allowed us to easily understand her medical progress. This last stay was her 2nd time. Both were for orthopedic issues/fracture and they were amazing at making her as comfortable as possible. Park Vista goes above and beyond regular care. You can tell the people there do their job with care and concern. Things run smooth and they always seem to be at least one step ahead as to what we needed. German, a caregiver was fantastic. The physical therapy dept. was so flexible and made sure things went smoothly. Bianca in Social Services was always on top with help and resources with amazing communication. That can't be said about many places these days. There are many others, I can't remember their names. But everyone is gentle and caring and I wouldn't want my mom anywhere else. Oh and the food was very good, fresh like home cooked food. The facility is immaculate and on top of everything.

When my mother came by she had to yell at the people in the front desk to tend to my Grandma. Why did it have to take a person to yell at them to tend to an elder who is literally screaming out in pain so loud you could hear her as you walk into the building? The nurses came to tend to her gave her some kind of strong pain killer after getting approval from a doctor they were talking to and measured her oxygen and said she was fine and kept insisting she was, my mom told the nurse to call for an ambulance multiple times and the nurse kept telling her they did. Ambulances DID NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 15-20 MINUTES LATER. Garden Grove Hospital is THREE minutes away from the care center, UCI Medical Center is FIVE MINUTES away from this care center. They absolutely did not call the ambulance until it WAS TOO LATE, my Grandma had fainted and probably when she passed away and thats when they measured her oxygen and couldn't get a reading and started panicking, when the paramedics arrived they had to start her heart up again and take her to the hospital where the doctor had told my mother she was long gone and she had not received oxygen for FORTY MINUTES. It is absolutely disgusting and terrible how these nurses do NOT care at all this care center should be investigated. If you have loved ones that you love and care about DO NOT send them here, if anything were to happen to them YOU CAN NOT expect the "nurses" here to do anything to help, they will brush your elders off and ignore them. this is disgusting and disgraceful behavior from so called nurses and they should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. The dated entire facility has a smelly permanent stench, so bad you can smell it just walking up to the front door. The staff does not greet upon entry because they're too busy on their cell phones. You can literally hear patients screaming in pain and nobody's doing anything to help. I would seriously reconsider sending my loved one to Chapman Care Center.
